Two-time Olympic medalist Lee Stecklein will be returning to the ice to play in the Winter Olympic Games.
Stecklein believes that the team might have had an impact on the increasing popularity of women’s hockey, and is hoping for support when they go to compete again.
“We may have had some small part in growing the women’s hockey game,” she said. “I know individually when people come up to you I’m always amazed at how many people watch that game, stayed up late to see that game, and to know that we were supported here at home was incredible and we’re hoping for the same thing this next go-round.”
Stecklein is also looking forward to continuing the teams’ rivalry with Canada.
“You don’t need much encouragement to go and play Canada,” she said. “Lots of history there, a lot of respect, but at the end of the day it’s always a battle.”
