VIDEO: Allyson Felix Reveals How She Handled Olympics Delay, COVID-19 Vaccination

Olympic athlete Allyson Felix claims that the hardest part for her was finding out that the 2020 Olympics would be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Obviously it was something that had to happen,” Felix said. “There was such a loss of life and loss of normalcy and jobs and so much loss all around that you felt like you were really going through it with everyone, but I will say as an athlete, everything is timing and for me … personally I feel like my family had made a lot of sacrifices for me to be able to have this opportunity and so for it not to go according to plan was really difficult.”

Felix claims she did her best to use all the extra time she had to her advantage to get “stronger and better and to continue forward.”

The athlete feels excited about the now-2021 Tokyo Olympics and worried about the possibility of the games being postponed once again.

“I tried not to let my mind wander to thinking of another postponement [or] of a cancellation just because I’m in such a heavy training period,” Felix explained. “It feels so good to be hopeful.”

When asked about the COVID-19 vaccination, the athlete mentioned that her parents were vaccinated and that she is “looking forward to when it’s [her] turn.”
