UFC Women’s Champ Amanda Nunes Announces Partner Nina Ansaroff Is Pregnant

UFC couple Amanda Nunes and Nina Ansaroff announced Thursday that they are expecting their first child together, according to an Instagram post from Ansaroff. “I am excited to announce that Baby Raegan Ann Nunes will be here mid September! I cannot wait to meet her! I am carrying and still plan on fighter after she is born,” Ansaroff wrote. MMA Junkie confirmed that Ansaroff is pregnant but has no plans of retiring and will continue to fight “not too long after” the baby is born.

Nunes who is the reigning featherweight and bantamweight women’s UFC champion also posted the same picture on her Instagram that showed the couple holding an infant’s dress and pair of shoes with the caption “I wanna tell every single person on this planet that…. Raegan Ann Nunes will be here mid September! I cannot wait to see her.”

The two fighters initially met at an MMA gym in Florida in 2012 and have been open about starting a family together ever since their engagement in 2018. Nunes previously told USA Today how helpful it is to be in a relationship with someone in the same profession.

“For sure, being in a relationship with someone who understands what is going on helps my fighting,” Nunes said. “But on the other side, because we are fighters helps to make the relationship stronger. We understand the work that we put in and we respect each other. We met through fighting, and it brings us closer. If I am cutting weight, she helps. This has helped make me champion. It helps me to be calm because I know Nina understands,” she added. “She knows everything that goes into being a fighter, so I don’t have to explain why I am doing this or that. Sometimes getting ready to fight is a difficult time, but she makes it easy for me, and I try to do the same for her.”

Hours before the announcement UFC president Dana White confirmed Nunes will defend her 145-pound title against Felicia Spencer on May 9 at UFC 250. The event will be held in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
