Trent Brown Returns To New England Via Trade

The New England Patriots are making moves this offseason. The Patriots have acquired offensive tackle Trent Brown from the Las Vegas Raiders. Brown agreed to a restructured one-year contract worth up to $11 million.

After restructuring his contract, Brown and a 2022 seventh-round pick was traded to New England in exchange for a 2022 fifth-round pick.

The 27-year-old offensive tackle played with the Patriots in 2018. In 2018, he started every game before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2019. Then the Raiders signed him to a four-year, $66 million contract. The 27-year-old earned his first Pro Bowl honors in his first season with Las Vegas.

Raiders general manager Mike Mayock, said of the tackle, “Trent’s whole thing is when he’s healthy, in shape and ready to go, he’s as dominant as any tackle in football, and he proved that early in the 2019 season. Since then, it’s kind of been a roller coaster.”

Mayock noted that the offensive tackle shines bright when he is healthy and in shape. “So really what he needs to do more than anything is get himself in the best shape of his life and come out and prove that he is a dominant tackle in the National Football League, and really that’s all it takes,” Mayock said.

The trade will not be official until the start of the new league year on March 17.
