Top Two Picks Of 2020 NFL Draft Will Play In London This Year

Along with the release of the NFL schedule, the league has announced the teams participating in this year’s International Series.

This year, the NFL London Games will only have two games. The first will take place on October 10, with the Atlanta Falcons facing the New York Jets, and then on October 17, the Jacksonville Jaguars will play the Miami Dolphins Both games will be played at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Interestingly enough, this means that the top two picks of the 2020 NFL Draft will be playing in the London Games. Trevor Lawrence will quarterback for the Jaguars while Zach Wilson will be signal calling for the Jets.

The NFL’s executive vice president and chief strategy and growth officer spoke about coronavirus concerns.

“We have been working closely with the UK government, the city of London, and the relevant health organizations over the past year in planning the games,” said Halpin. “Through their successful vaccine rollout and commitment to bringing crowds back to sports events, the time is right for the return of NFL football this fall. We will continue to monitor the COVID environment, putting health and safety first, and will adhere to any and all future COVID regulations and restrictions.”

The NFL has planned international games as part of the league’s effort to expand its influences and markets around the world. The International series has been met with success and the league has explored possible expansion beyond the country. The international games feature games played in two countries, Mexico and England. The League labels these international games as the NFL London Games and the NFL Mexico Game.

Usually, the league allocates more games for the London games and one game for the Mexico game. Last year, the league scheduled four games for London and one game in Mexico, but the venues had to be changed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
