Titans Hopefully New OC Brian Daboll Can Help QB Cam Ward Reach His Potential

The Tennessee Titans continue to build up their new staff with the planned hiring of Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator.

Daboll is the Titans’ first major move since hiring Robert Saleh as head coach. Daboll is still in the running for the Las Vegas Raiders head coaching job, so he won’t officially sign until after their head coaching search is done.

Daboll’s most recent coaching stint was as the New York Giants head coach. He coached them from 2022 to 2025. In 2022, he led his team to the playoffs and won Coach of the Year honors. He was fired in the middle of the 2025 season after several late-game collapses by the team.

Daboll began as a volunteer assistant at William & Mary. He got his chance in the NFL in 2000 as the defensive assistant for the New England Patriots. Daboll won three Super Bowls with the Patriots from 2000 to 2006.

In 2009, he finally got the chance to serve as the Cleveland Browns’ offensive coordinator. After two bad offensive seasons, he was let go by the Browns. He was the OC for the Kansas City Chiefs for one season before returning to New England, where he’d win two more Super Bowls as the tight ends coach.

He coached for one year in college football, serving as Alabama’s offensive coordinator. He added a College Football National Championship to his resume. He has six championships between the NFL and college football.

The Buffalo Bills hired Daboll as the offensive coordinator in 2018. In 2020, he won the Assistant Coach of the Year award.

In their short time together, Daboll and Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart had developed good chemistry. Daboll hopes to develop similar chemistry with Titans rookie QB Cam Ward. Daboll was instrumental in developing Josh Allen.
