Texas running back Jonathon Brooks will have surgery after an ACL tear after the Longhorn’s 29-26 win against TCU. The surgery will have him out for the rest of the season.
Prior to the injury, Brooks rushed for 1,139 yards and ten touchdowns in ten games and ranked sixth in FBS rushing yards and seventh in rushing yards per game with a YPG average of 113.9.
“We’re heartbroken for Jonathon. He was having a fantastic season and leaves a void that needs to be filled. But we know he will continue to be an invaluable leader on our team, helping us prepare as we move forward in our mission this season,” Coach Steve Sarkisian said.
Brooks has helped the No. 7 Texas Longhorns to a 9-1 record. He was considered a top NFL draft prospect, but after the injury, it looks like he is more likely to return to Texas for the 2024 season.
