Houston Texans star receiver Nico Collins suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday’s practice, and it is unclear whether he will play in Week 2.
Team doctors don’t believe the injury is necessarily serious, but Week 2 is not a sure thing because of caution.
In 2024, Collins signed a $72 million extension with the Texans.
He is listed on the injury report as limited in practice due to the hamstring, but no official status has been listed for this weekend yet.

The 27-year-old also suffered a hamstring injury in 2024, which sidelined him for five games midseason.
Collins had seven receptions last week for 75 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills. The close loss makes the upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals even more important, and Collins would be a huge loss for the Texans’ offense against a strong defense.
CJ Stroud’s receiver corps is already thinner than in the past, and having to dig deeper into the depth chart could hurt their chances next week.
Even though the Texans’ loss to the Bills was promising for their ability to compete, losing that game and losing Collins would make this past week’s loss much bigger.
The Texans have the Colts and Cowboys after the Bengals if Collins’ injury keeps him out longer than expected.
