Tight end Gerald Everett has agreed to a contract with the Los Angeles Chargers, though terms of the deal were not announced.
Chargers 2021 tight end Jared Cook is a free agent, and the 27-year-old Everett is seven years Cook’s junior. Their production is similar, so the move to get younger makes sense.
Last year, his first as the top tight end on a depth chart, Everett caught 48 passes for 478 yards and four touchdowns with Seattle; Cook had 48 receptions for 564 yards and four touchdowns.
Everett had his follies, though: he had a two-fumble game and also missed two contests due to the COVID-19 list.
