The Golden State Warriors‘ season is over after failing to make the playoffs following a play-in loss to the Phoenix Suns, and for the first time in a while, it is unclear where the Warriors will be headed.

Warriors forward Draymond Green spoke on his podcast, The Draymond Green Show, about what he thinks is next for his head coach, Steve Kerr.

Green started by saying, “I hope he’s our coach next season,” but then later added his honest opinion. “You want my opinion? I think not. Just because it feels like that. It felt like that was it.”

Following the 111-96 loss to the Suns, Kerr brought in Stephen Curry and Green for a moment on the sidelines, and microphones picked up that Kerr said, “I don’t know what’s going to happen next, but I love you guys to death. Thank you.”

Kerr will take the next couple of weeks to contemplate his future, but the signs are pointing to him retiring.

“I still love coaching, but I get it,” Kerr said in his press conference. “These jobs all have an expiration date. There is a run that happens, and when the run ends, sometimes it’s time for new blood and new ideas.”

Green added that he has “never been so uncertain since earlier in my career in what happens next.” “But I’m truly at a loss now because you don’t know what direction will be next. … I also hope I’m on this team next season. We also don’t know that. Man, if it was, what a run.”

The Warriors have many decisions to make this offseason, including whether or not to keep Green. Green has a $27.6 million player option if the two sides cannot agree to an extension.

Monday night showed the risks of competitive sports after Golden State Warriors guard Moses Moody went up for a dunk against the Dallas Mavericks and came down clutching his knee in an excruciating amount of pain, which was a gruesome knee injury.

Moody’s knee seemed to buckle in mid-air, losing control and falling to the ground as play continued, leading to a missed Max Christie three-pointer before play was stopped. Moody was stretchered off the court as the entire stadium was holding its breath, including the Mavericks and Warriors benches.

“I saw the looks on the Mavericks’ faces,” Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr said to the media after the game. “Everybody on the floor was just horrified. Players care about players. They know how fragile this business is, how short their careers are, and how injuries can happen and be catastrophic. We don’t know what it is yet. We’re just hoping for the best.”

The Warriors have been plagued with injuries all year, as guard Brandin Podziemski spoke about the horrible injury, saying, “Not really words. You just hate to see it. Especially to the good people in life.”

Earlier this season, Jimmy Butler suffered a torn ACL, effectively ending his season. The Warriors have been without superstar point guard Stephen Curry for quite some time, as he is nursing a knee injury.

The Golden State Warriors have not had the year they had hoped for, with star forward Jimmy Butler tearing his ACL and struggling to find consistency. But it seems as if the Warriors are going for a major splash in the offseason or perhaps two.

According to reports, the Warriors will pursue 21-time All-Star LeBron James after his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers expires at the end of the season. James has been rumored to the Warriors many times, but nothing has actually come to fruition, as James and the Lakers aren’t on the best of terms. This opens up the possibility of James going elsewhere.

The Warriors are determined to maximize their title chances while they still have Superstar Stephen Curry, and that includes monitoring Giannis Antetokounmpo and his status with the Milwaukee Bucks. A trade for Antetokounmpo is unlikely this season, but the off-season gives the Warriors the flexibility to offload contracts like Butler and Draymond Green if they are truly interested in bringing in James and Antetokounmpo.

With the trade deadline on February 5, the Warriors may just hold onto all their assets in the hope that Antetokounmpo becomes available after the season.

If the Warriors were to pull off these crazy moves, a trio of Curry, James and Antetokounmpo would almost certainly go down as the most talented big three of all-time. Between the three, they have eight MVP awards and nine NBA Championships.

James and Curry played together during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Together, they put on a show as they led Team USA to a Gold Medal in a thrilling game against the hometown French Men’s National Team. James has talked many times about how much he would love to play with Curry. The two were the biggest of rivals in the 2010s, but as both have gotten older, they seem to have built a strong relationship and respect for each other.

A lot of factors will have to go right if the Warriors want to pull off these moves, including James deciding to play another year.

In what was already a frustrating season for the Golden State Warriors, they will now be without forward Jimmy Butler for the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL late Monday night versus his former team, the Miami Heat.

The injury happened in the third quarter, when Brandin Podziemski floated a pass to Butler, and as he went up for the ball, he landed awkwardly on his right leg after a mid-air collision with Davion Mitchell.

Butler was in obvious pain immediately after coming down on his leg and being helped to the locker room. Butler was unable to put any weight on his leg. An ACL injury was confirmed early Tuesday morning.

Without Butler, the Warriors face an uphill battle the rest of the season. Sitting at 25-19 and eighth in the Western Conference. The Warriors are looking to avoid the play-in for the second consecutive year, but without Butler, it will be very difficult to make any significant noise, especially in a tough conference. Butler was averaging 20.0/5.6/4.9 in what was another stellar season for the veteran forward.

Butler, 36, has one more year left on his current deal with the Warriors and is owed $56.8 million next season. This injury will almost certainly impact the Warriors’ plans for the trade deadline, which is on February 5. Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga has requested a trade from the organization, but with Butler’s injury, that may change whether Kuminga remains a Warrior.

The Warriors are already one of the oldest teams in the league, with Stephen Curry, 37, Draymond Green, 35, and Al Horford, 39, so the direction of the team is certainly a massive question mark.

Butler faces an uphill battle, as ACL injuries for aging players tend not to be kind, which makes this so much more difficult.

Following an abysmal performance in the Play-In Tournament Tuesday, Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson must now begin considering his next steps in the twilight of his career. The former star, who combined forces with fellow elite shooter Steph Curry in 2011 and went on to win four NBA championships, shot 0-for-10 from the field in the team’s 118-94 loss to the Sacramento Kings.

Retirement may not be on the table yet for the 34-year-old, but many are speculating that Thompson may not return to Golden State next year. His contract with the team ends at the end of this season, and though he improved in the regular season after a poor start, he proved to be a liability in the team’s playoff pursuit.

Despite the rumors of an impending departure, Thompson’s longtime teammates Curry and Draymond Green said they could not imagine the Warriors without him. Coach Steve Kerr, who coaxed Thompson through his slump in the regular season, flatly said that the team needed him.

“It means a lot,” Thompson said in response to Kerr and his teammates. I mean, we’ve been through the highest of highs and lows. Whether it’s losing a championship, winning a championship, or missing the playoffs, we’ve been through everything together, so that does mean a lot. It makes me grateful to have the times I’ve had with them. Like, that was pretty historic stuff.”

In his prime, Thompson was one-half of what is often considered the greatest backcourts in NBA history, teaming up with Curry to form the Splash Brothers. The team strayed away from several core tenets of basketball, focusing more and more on perimeter shooting, and succeeded because of elite shooting talent.

Now, Thompson is a shadow of the player he once was, occasionally providing glimpses of ability but frequently suffering lapses. He was not the only aging Warriors player who struggled this season, which could soon compel the team to undergo dramatic restructuring. Regardless of where Thompson goes next, his goals for the final seasons of his career are clear.

Draymond Green was ejected from the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Orlando Magic Wednesday night. On his podcast Thursday, he took the blame for the inciting incident, in which he yelled at referee Ray Acosta.

“It just can’t happen,” Green said on The Draymond Green Show Thursday. “I said what I said. I deserved to be kicked out at that point. If I’m all the way honest with y’all, kind of was trying to turn my body and angle it to go to the bench, but I said what I said a little too soon before angling my body. … But, yeah, it just can’t happen.”

It was Green’s fourth ejection of the season, setting a new high for the controversial veteran. It also occurred four minutes into the game after Green directed several negative comments at Acosta after an early personal foul.

Despite losing Green almost immediately, the Warriors rallied behind a sparkling performance 17-point, 10-assist performance from Steph Curry to defeat Orlando 101-93. Forward Andrew Wiggins also scored 23 points in the contest, making up for Green’s absence and marking a potential turnaround for the struggling big man.

Green has been one of many players on Golden State who has struggled in the 2023-24 season. Beyond Curry, who continues to produce at a high level, the team has been extremely ineffective in comparison to previous years.

Unlike most of his teammates, however, Green has struggled with behavioral problems as well; he was suspended earlier in the season for a violent altercation with the Suns’ Jusuf Nurkic and has repeatedly acted out despite apologizing on several occasions.

When Green was one of the league’s top defenders, he was a key member of the Warriors’ dynasty. He has been more of a distraction this season, however, and has been one of several players to blame for the team’s skid in the Western Conference. Golden State is currently 10th with a 38-34 record, putting them in danger of missing the playoffs entirely for the first time since 2013.

Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins is taking a leave of absence to deal with a personal matter, the team announced Wednesday. Wiggins did not travel with the team for a game against the Washington Wizards earlier this week and did not play against the Knicks on Thursday.

Wiggins missed the last 25 games of the regular season last year for personal reasons as well. Golden State never provided a reason for his absence, but The Athletic reported that his father was battling unspecified medical issues. Wiggins has again requested that the team keep the details of his personal matters private.

“We do expect him to be back but we just don’t exactly know when,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said during a local radio interview Wednesday. “We’re in a position where Wiggs is a private person and he’s asked to keep it private and we’re gonna honor that. So it doesn’t help for me to sit here and try to explain any of that. The bottom line is we respect Wiggs, we need him and we fully expect him back, but we just don’t know when that will be.”

The Warriors have struggled throughout the 2023-24 season, managing to earn a 30-27 record in the Western Conference, and Wiggins’ regression has been a factor in their backsliding. The 28-year-old forward is scoring just 12.7 points per game this year, far below his typical production. He is stepping away from a team currently in 10th place, just good enough to make the Play-In Tournament.

Despite his personal problems on the floor, Wiggins has been with Golden State since the 2019-20 season and has become an indispensable part of the team’s system. After stepping away from the team last year, he returned in the playoffs and played solidly until the team was eliminated in the conference semifinals.

In just his fifth start of the season, Warriors shooting guard Moses Moody filled in for Wiggins Tuesday and scored 12 points. The seldom-used bench player appeared to provide a spark in the team’s 123-112 victory over Washington and could continue to fill in for Wiggins going forward.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Wednesday that he was still content despite the team’s 23-25 record. The team has been speculated to be looking for trade partners ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.

Kerr told reporters before the Warriors’ 127-104 win over the 76ers that the team could still be “something special.” Led by aging stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, the team has struggled at times in the 2023-24 season.

“The guys who are here, they are an incredibly accomplished group,” Kerr said. “We’ve got some exciting young players, and we’ve got a good group. Every guy on our team has really overcome a lot, individually, this year. Taken out of the starting lineup, to injuries, young players have emerged through hard work and patience, and I enjoy coaching this team. It is a long haul, but I feel like this team could be something special.”

Kerr and the Warriors have four championships in the past decade, but the team’s recent struggles have provoked calls for a roster shakeup. Longtime defensive star Draymond Green was briefly suspended for repeated behavioral issues last year. Thompson, one of the league’s most prolific long-range shooters, has recently commented on losing steam late in his career. With just 17.1 points per game this year, the 34-year-old is on pace to have his worst offensive season since 2013.

“To go from [being] one of the best players — it’s hard for anybody, I’ll be honest with you,” Thompson said Monday.

Chris Paul, who was once expected to be a key addition for Golden State last offseason, has missed significant time with various injuries and has only scored 8.9 points per game. In general, the team consistently has one of the oldest starting fives in basketball.

Beyond Curry, who continues to produce at an elite level, the only Golden State players producing at a trade-worthy level at the moment are forwards Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga. Kuminga is just 21 years old, making it unlikely that Golden State would part with him. Wiggins, a 28-year-old starter, could be a valuable trade piece, but no deal has been arranged yet, per team reports.

Draymond Green Kicks Kyrie Irving in Warriors' Game 1 104-89 Win vs Cavs

The NBA announced that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green would be suspended one game for stepping on Kings forward Domantas Sabonis in Game 2 of the teams’ first-round Western Conference matchup. With Green out and the Warriors down 2-0 in the series, the team will now turn to Kevon Looney to support stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson as they look to come back in Game 3.

“Everybody’s locked in, our level of focus has raised, our back’s against the wall so we have to go out there and play with a level of focus we haven’t played with all year,” Looney said after practice Wednesday. “I think we’re ready and I think we’re excited.”

In the first two games of their first-round playoff game, the Warriors have been struck by a wave of historic momentum, as the Kings have enjoyed a pair of rabid home crowds at the Golden 1 Center. Sacramento fans, who have not seen the team make a playoff run in 17 years, have propelled the Kings to two straight wins against the defending NBA champions.

On the floor, Curry and Thompson have been effective while key contributor Andrew Wiggins has done his part as well. But injury and performance concerns surrounding guard Jordan Poole proved to be a setback in Game 2, and Green’s suspensions will only make matters worse for Golden State.

Players like Looney, a six-foot-nine bench player capable of playing center and power forward, will need to provide size in the paint to counter Sabonis while giving the team’s army of shooters space at the perimeter. He will lead a group of players that coach Steve Kerr plans to cycle through in an effort to compete with a weakened roster.

“It’s more than likely going to be a game where we play a lot of people and we just have to put our best foot forward,” Kerr said after practice. “I believe in our guys. I have no doubt we can go out there and get this done.”

While Golden State has struggled to band together on the road, the Kings have performed incredibly well to earn their lead in the series. De’Aaron Fox and Sabonis have been extremely effective around the perimeter and down low, respectively, with Fox turning in a particularly strong 38-point performance in Game 1. Meanwhile, shooting guard Malik Monk has been a revelation for the team, scoring 50 points combined early in the series.

Steph Curry was ejected late in the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ game against the Grizzlies Wednesday for throwing his mouthguard. Though the star point guard wasn’t present for the end of the game, his 34-point performance was key to Golden State’s 122-120 comeback win.

The ejection occurred with 1:18 remaining in the game when the Warriors were still trailing by two. Golden State shooting guard Jordan Poole took a long-range shot early in the team’s possession, frustrating Curry to the point that he threw his mouthguard in anger as Memphis regained possession.

“You want something really bad, like just getting the win,” Curry said. “I reacted in a way that obviously put myself out of the game and put the team in a tough place, but the intentions and energy around what matters and the sense of winning, that’s what it’s about.”

Oddly enough, Poole later proved to be the team’s savior while Curry was confined to the locker room. The rising talent scored on a last-second layup soon after to put the Warriors in front and complete a 10-point comeback in the final six minutes. After the game, Poole jokingly threw his own mouthguard while celebrating with Curry in the locker room.

With the win, the Warriors improved to 24-24 on the season, a subpar record for the reigning champions but nevertheless an improvement after a turbulent start to the season.

This is the third time in Curry’s career that he has been ejected for throwing his mouthpiece, a fairly common way that the four-time champion has expressed frustration in the past. He was ejected from Game 6 of the 2016 NBA Finals for the same offense, as well as a 2017 regular season game (coincidentally against the Grizzlies).

In isolation, it appears that this ejection was simply a product of the moment, as Curry overreacted to a key play in the game. That being said, Golden State has struggled late in games in recent weeks, dropping games to the Nets and Celtics despite leading for significant portions of both contests. Curry implied that pent-up frustration was also a factor in Wednesday’s incident.

“It was a crucial time in the game, and the way that our season has gone, there’s questions about the heightened sense of urgency,” Curry said. “Every detail matters.”

Since losing Steph Curry on Dec. 14 to a shoulder injury, the Golden State Warriors have lost three of four games, the last two coming in blowouts against the Knicks and Nets. The season to this point has been disappointing for the reigning NBA champions, but without Curry, it’s becoming abundantly clear that the team needs its star to have any chance of competing.

He won’t be available for weeks.

In Curry’s last game against the Pacers, the star point guard had 38 points in the third quarter before he injured his shoulder in an attempt to make a steal on defense. The Warriors continued to rally after he exited but failed to stop Indiana in the fourth quarter, losing 125-119.

The following day, head coach Steve Kerr announced that Curry would have to receive an MRI to determine the extent of his injury. The results were crushing, finding that he was nowhere close to playing and would require several weeks to recover.

At first, the team’s results without Curry were mixed. Though the 76ers were missing key contributors Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey on Dec. 16, they managed to lean on stars James Harden and Joel Embiid and pull away from Golden State in the third quarter to win 118-106. The Warriors recovered well two days later, however, as Jordan Poole’s 43-point performance helped them defeat a mediocre Raptors team 126-110.

The true extent of Curry’s absence has only begun to show in the team’s two most recent games. Against the Knicks on Dec. 20, Golden State was completely hapless from beginning to end in a 134-94. Five New York players scored 15 points or more while Klay Thompson only managed to score 11 on 12 shots. It was a rout in which the Knicks exploited their opponent’s defensive weaknesses while locking down compromised playmakers on the other end. The following night, the Nets took a turn.

This time, the Warriors were also without Thompson, who was held out of the game by Kerr after the Knicks loss. Even without Kyrie Irving, the Nets crushed them 143-113, scoring 91 points in the first half of an eye-watering rout. Golden State’s leading scorer was James Wiseman, a bench player who rarely appears for more than 20 minutes per game.

With a record drifting above and below .500 all season, the Warriors were treading water long before they lost Curry. A dayslong absence for their star guard would have been a decisive loss — a weekslong absence could very well end the team’s season. With Thompson and Poole at the helm, Golden State has no room for error for the foreseeable future.

Warriors star Steph Curry is scheduled to receive an MRI after sustaining a shoulder injury in a game against the Pacers Wednesday. His status going forward will depend on the results of the MRI, and missing time could be detrimental as Golden State attempts to recover from a slow start to the 2022-23 season.

Curry suffered the injury in the third quarter against Indiana when he tried to steal the ball from forward Jalen Smith on a Pacers fast break. The Golden State star had 38 points in the game when he exited. Warriors coach Steve Kerr announced the following day that Curry would require further medical tests before he could comment on his player’s status going forward.

“He’s gonna get an MRI tomorrow,” Kerr said. “We’ll see how he is tomorrow. I didn’t ask about [his level of pain], I just trust [the medical staff’s] judgment and they said he’s not going back in. I checked in with him briefly, but I haven’t had a chance to go into detail with him. His spirits were good. Steph’s always a guy with a great outlook on life so he was in good spirits. We’ll hope for the best.”

It’s still unclear if Curry will have to miss time because of the injury, but his potential absence would have a profound impact on the Warriors following a 14-15 start to the season. The defending champions have struggled to maintain form early on, and prolonged recovery periods for Curry have hurt the team in the past. Playing without him for most of the 2019-20 season, Golden State went 15-50 and missed the playoffs.

If Curry were to miss games, the Warriors’ offense would likely run through remaining contributors Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole, established stars in their own right. The team’s success does seem to depend on its leader more often than not, however, making Curry’s status in the coming days extremely important to the organization.

Golden State Warriors forward Anthony Lamb was accused of rape in a civil lawsuit filed Thursday against the University of Vermont, where he played from 2016 to 2020.

Lamb was not named as a defendant in the case, but Kendall Ware, one of the plaintiffs and a swimmer who attended Vermont, claimed that the NBA player forced himself on her after she repeatedly asked him to stop. The alleged incident is part of a larger case in which the plaintiffs are arguing that the university maintains “deliberate indifference” to sexual assault. Defendants include the school, the board of trustees, several administrators and Athletic Director Jeff Schulman.

“During the encounter, without Ware’s consent, Lamb forcefully anally penetrated Ware as she repeatedly pleaded with him to stop, telling him ‘no’ over and over,” the suit said. “Ignoring her unequivocal demands, he told her to ‘just take it’ and continued to rape her.”

In addition to rape, Ware also accused Lamb of filming her during sex and removing his condom, all without her consent. The two had been dating for six months when Ware claims that the incident occurred at a party following an argument. In a statement, Lamb has denied all claims and welcomes further investigation into the issue.

“The allegations made against me in 2019 that have recently resurfaced are patently false,” he said in a statement. “I have always been fully cooperative regarding the alleged incident, and have welcomed any investigation into the matter. Simply put, I have never committed sexual assault.”

Warriors General Manager Bob Myers also came to Lamb’s defense, claiming that the team looked into the issue before signing him.

“Anthony is not a defendant in this recent lawsuit and, to our knowledge, he has never been charged with any wrongdoing in any legal case,” a team statement said. “Prior to signing Anthony in September, we did our due diligence with the NBA and his prior teams, as we do with all players. If any new information comes to light, we will certainly evaluate it and act accordingly.”

Lamb went undrafted following his college career and played in the G League for a time before finding a spot on the Houston Rockets. He has since played for the Spurs and Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors have won the 2022 NBA Finals, securing their fourth championship in seven years and silencing a lot of doubters. There’s no secret that the Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies developed a rivalry in the last season, but even after the season officially concluded, the exchanges are still going on.

The timeline begins with a tweet from Jaren Jackson Jr. on March 28 after the Grizzlies’ victory over Golden State. Jackson tweeted “Strength In Numbers” as a nod to the longtime slogan for the Warriors during their run of success over the last few years. Klay Thompson referenced this in his Game 6 postgame presser after the Warriors won the title saying, “Strength in numbers is alive and well.”

Thompson said during the post-game press conference, “There was this one player on the Grizzlies who tweeted ‘Strength in numbers’ after they beat us in the regular season, and it pissed me off so much. I can’t wait to retweet that thing. Freakin’ bum. I had to watch that. I’m just like, ‘This freakin’ clown.’

Ja Morant decided to add fire, promptly him to tweet out “got a lot of real estate,” seemingly amused by the fact that a team that the champions would even be concerned with a team they beat in the second round.

Draymond Green, however, continued the spat on Sunday on Twitter. Green, fresh off antagonizing the Boston media and fans, was quick to attempt to silence the young Grizzlies’ star.

“We traded that real estate in @JaMorant the property value was higher in Boston,” Green responded. Following Morant’s response of “I’m spinning.”

NBA Twitter got to work suggesting that the league take the initiative of scheduling the Warriors and Grizzlies to play on Christmas Day.

Morant agreed to the proposition but decided to put his own twist to it, suggesting that the Warriors play in Memphis, although the defending champions usually play at home, a fact that Green was quick to remind the young star of.

Klay Thompson: Dallas Mavericks v Golden State Warriors

It isn’t new for social media influencers and YouTube personalities to attempt to sneak into sporting events, usually using tactics such as fake tickets, employee impersonation, and more. It’s extremely rare however for someone to walk through security, and get on the court to launch some jumpers before being found out. That’s exactly what Dawson Gurley did in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night.

As shown in a YouTube video posted by Gurley, he was able to walk into Chase Center, get through security, who thought he was Klay Thompson, and get to the court before he proceeds to take a few jumpers before he was realized by a security guard. Gurley can be heard saying in the video, “We just walked right through security into the stadium, man!” Security is then heard telling him that he is welcome as a ticketed guest since he had done nothing illegal.

The Warriors however subsequently banned Gurley from Chase Center and Kaiser Permanente Arena (where their G-League affiliate the Santa Cruz Warriors play). In a statement, a Golden State spokesperson said, “An individual falsely impersonated a Warriors player in a deliberate attempt to access unauthorized areas within Chase Center. These actions have resulted in a lifetime ban from both Chase Center and Kaiser Permanente Arena.”

Gurley quickly took to social media to express his displeasure with the ban tweeting, “Technically, I did not trespass. I talked to security, went through metal detectors, and walked right into the building. They welcomed me with open arms. I also never claimed to be Klay… Why should I be banned because their security is incompetent?”

Gurley’s Fake Klay personality has been ever-present amongst Warriors fans since 2017, and he has been present at NBA games, media events, and the Warriors’ ring ceremonies. His shtick once even caught the attention of Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, with Kerr once joking that Gurley looked as if the real Thompson “had one too many burgers.”

For the first time this series, Stephen Curry was not the leading scorer for the Golden State Warriors, that mantle went to Andrew Wiggins, the unsung hero from Game 5, and the player doing all the dirty work for the Warriors all series long. Wiggins had a stat line of 26 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Wiggins was the lone starter to pick up the slack for an offense that has been lackluster during the Finals.

In Game 5, Golden State seemed to be missing everything. Only one starter, Klay Thompson, was able to connect on a three-pointer. In fact, as a team, the Warriors shot a ghastly 22.5% from three, a percentage that saw Curry go 0-for-9 from deep. Although a bad game from him was inevitable, this marked the first time in 233 games that Curry did not connect from deep.

The Warriors managed to put up a winning effort despite subpar performances from key players. One of which is Draymond Green, whose offensive ineptitude continues to show face in this series. Green had eight points, eight rebounds, six points and as many fouls in the win. This was the third time this series that Green fouled out. Even more concerning is the fact that Green is shooting a terrible 28% from the field, 58% from the free-throw line, and has yet to connect on a three this series. He has constantly faced backlash in this series due to his inconsistencies with his play, with his own mom even sounding off on Twitter about his lack of production.

Although the Warriors have been inconsistent, no team has been quite as erratic and frustrating as the Boston Celtics. In this game, the only source of “somewhat consistent” offense was due to Jayson Tatum. The 23-year-old had 27 points along with 10 rebounds while shooting 5-of-9 from three. His counterpart Jaylen Brown was dreadful in Game 5. Following up his stretch of good form with an 18-point performance on a poor 5-of-18 clip. The Celtics have also struggled immensely with turning the ball over all series. In Game 5, Boston turned the ball over 18 times, something that the Warriors repeatedly took advantage of, scoring 22 points off of Celtics’ turnovers. Boston’s struggles from the free-throw line also were pivotal in the result in Game 5. The Celtics shot 21-for-31 from the charity stripe, with Tatum especially going 2-of-6. Missing out on ten points at the line when the margin of victory ended up being ten proves how the Celtics have failed to capitalize on their opportunities all game long.

The Warriors will have a chance to put the Celtics away and secure their fourth title in seven years on Thursday night at the TD Garden.

The 2021-22 All-NBA teams were announced this past week with a few newcomers and regular faces in the mix. The First Team consisted of back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic, Milwaukee Bucks forward and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic, Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker and Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum. This is the first time both Tatum and Booker have made either of the All-NBA teams and marks the first time that all players named to the First Team are 27 years old or younger since the 1954-55 NBA Season. This is also Doncic’s third selection in his first four years in the NBA. He is the fourth player in NBA history to make the All-NBA First Team at least three times before their 24th birthday. The other three are Tim Duncan, Kevin Durant and Max Zaslofsky.

The Second Team consisted of 2021-22 scoring champion and MVP-runner up, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid, Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant, Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry and Chicago Bulls forward DeMar DeRozan. In addition to his first All-NBA selection, Morant also picked up the league Most Improved Player Award after averaging 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists while leading the Grizzlies to a 56-win season and a number two seed in the Western Conference. This also marks Durant’s tenth All-NBA selection of all time.

Rounding out the Third Team were Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, Phoenix Suns guard Chris Paul, Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young, and Toronto Raptors forward Paskal Siakam. With his selection, James now extends his record for most ever All-NBA team selections with 18. Paul also becomes second all-time in selections behind James with 11. There were a few superstars who many pundits deemed “snubbed” from the All-NBA Teams. Those include three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert, and Miami Heat duo Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Further controversies with the All-NBA teams lie within the success of the respective teams of the members. For example, James is the only member of the All-NBA teams whose team did not qualify for the NBA Playoffs this season. As of now the only members of the All-NBA teams who are still contending for a title are Tatum and Curry, whose Celtics and Warriors will face off in the NBA Finals this Thursday.

Covid-19 has ravaged the NBA, and another game will have to be postponed. The game between the Denver Nuggets and the Golden State Warriors, meant to be played last night, will have to wait after the Nuggets did not have the eight healthy players required for a game. This is the eleventh game the NBA has postponed for COVID reasons.

Warriors forward Draymond Green voiced his frustrations on Twitter.

“How do you continue to cancel games when you’ve implemented rules to prevent this from happening?” Green said. “Is that not a competitive advantage for other teams? The guys we didn’t have due to the protocol list played no role in Tuesday’s loss? Pick a side but don’t straddle the fence.”

Green’s insinuation that the Nuggets 89-86 win on Tuesday was unfair came from the fact that the Warriors weren’t at full strength either – they also had key players in Covid protocol including Green himself and point guard Jordan Poole. Green also argued that the Nuggets have an advantage when the game is made up since it would likely add a back-to-back game on the Warriors schedule.

“So when the game is rescheduled (which will probably take a day away from our “break”), we will play them at full strength… But they got to sneak a win when we weren’t at full strength, only two days ago??? Let’s make it make some sense here.”

The Nuggets are without coach Michael Malone, two assistant coaches, forwards Jeff Green and Zeke Nnaji, guard Bones Hyland. This adds to the eight players that were already out due to injury and non-COVID-related illnesses.

The Nuggets are scheduled to play the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center tomorrow while next up for the Warriors is tomorrow night’s game against the Utah Jazz.

Draymond Green Kicks Kyrie Irving in Warriors' Game 1 104-89 Win vs Cavs

Draymond Green is at his best when he is annoying people, whether that be his opponents, opposing fans or the NBA league as a whole. While appearing on the NBA on TNT Sunday night, Green made the most blatant and shameless attempt at tampering (since Magic Johnson went on Jimmy Kimmel) to poke at Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker. “It’s great to see Booker playing well and Phoenix playing well, but get my man out of Phoenix. It’s not good for him, it’s not good for his career. Sorry, Chuck — they got to get Book out of Phoenix. I need my man to go somewhere he can play great basketball all the time and win because he’s that type of player.”

When asked directly if he was tampering, Green replied, “maybe.”

Basketball-wise, this is a smart move by Green. While Booker would overlap skill and position with Warrior guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, he would restore them to their flamethrower offense of yore. The NBA did its job and fined Green $50,000 for his comments, which he probably doesn’t mind given his recent signing of a $100 million-plus contract.

In times of crisis, we often look at our idols and heroes for guidance, and even entertainment. Whether it be the James’ family Tik Tok’s or following the instagram Live conversations of popular athletes like Chris Paul and Dwayne Wade, these larger than life personalities seem to be who we turn to during challenging times such as this.

Lately, as first responders and healthcare workers have been heeding the call and working countless hours, many celebrities and athletes have stepped in to show their support.

Recently, in Oakland, we’ve seen just this, from two time MVP, and Warriors all-time great, Stephen Curry. Curry heard that a nurse at the Alta Bates Summit Medical Center had been donning his number 30 jersey under her scrubs like Superman, for some further inspiration, so he decided to reach out.

Curry decided to FaceTime nurse, Shelby Delaney, and to his surprise he found her and a handful of her co-workers repping Warriors head gear.

Curry shared his sentiment and praised Delaney and her squad of nurses for all of their hard work: “I can’t thank god enough for what you’re doing. Just the sacrifice, selflessness, the way that everybody is coming together, thank you so much for just what you do, your heart, and the inspiration y’all are providing everybody.”

Delaney, a massive Warriors fan, was thrilled to see how her work was providing inspiration and confidence, the way that Curry has always done for her and the city of Oakland on the hardwood.

On the call, Delaney explained to Curry her inspiration and decision for beginning to wear the jersey under her scrubs. “There’s a lot of times I did not want to like just quit, give up and do something easier,” she said. “That’s kind of when I first started wearing the jersey. It was just my way of kind of gathering my strength, reminding myself that I’ve got this and that I can do it.”
