UFC president Dana White said that he tested positive for Covid-19 this week and is currently quarantining and isolating in his Las Vegas home.

White, 52, said that he and his immediate family tested positive for Covid-19 after arriving home from a Thanksgiving gathering at his northeastern estate in Maine.

On “The Jim Rome Podcast,” talking to legendary sportscaster Jim Rome, White confirmed his vaccination status and consulted in UFC commentator and host of popular Spotify podcast of his own, Joe Rogan, for advice.

Rogan has been known to spread misinformation about Covi-19 and vaccines via his podcast. Besides advising White, Rogan also advised Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rogers on how to go about treatment when he came down with the coronavirus.

White decided to call Rogan after realizing that he had no sense of smell last Sunday. White said he feels like “a million bucks” and continues to exercise multiple times a day. He also relayed his desire to attend a UFC Fight Night event this Saturday in Las Vegas if he tests negative.

The UFC has three remaining live events this year. Besides Saturday’s fight in Las Vegas, the company has a UFC 269 pay-per-view set at T-Mobile Arena the following week, and in Las Vegas and another UFC Fight Night on December 18 at Vegas’s Apex.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - JANUARY 19: Glover Teixeira of Brazil reacts after defeating Karl Roberson of the United States during their light heavyweight fight at UFC Fight Night at Barclays Center on January 19, 2019 in New York City.

The one sport that has been trying to continue to put on events for their fans despite everyone being in quarantine and can’t attend sporting events has been the UFC. Wednesday night was not exception.

On Wednesday in Jacksonville, Florida the main event was fought between Glover Teixeira and Anthony Smith. In the end, it was Teixeira winning his fourth straight fight, this one by knockout in the fifth round. Despite the win, there was some controversy with the fight. Not so much with Teixeira winning, but many other fighters and analysts felt that the fight should have been called sooner than round five.

Daniel Cormier, who was working the fight as a ringside analyst as well as an accomplished UFC in his own right, took to Twitter following the fight, expressing his feelings regarding the fight being called sooner than it was.

The majority of people were calling for Smith’s corner to try and stop the fight sooner to protect their guy from getting beat up more than he did. Despite this, Smith following the fight says that he had no issues regarding how long the fight went. “I’m good with the decisions the referee and my corner made. When the ref made it clear he needed to see something or he was gonna stop it, I did what I had to do to stay in the fight. I come out of battle with my shield or I come out on it. That’s my rule. Period.”

Circling back to Teixeira, the 40-year old is one a four-fight win streak, which has some people asking the question as to whether or not Teixeira can make another run at the light heavyweight title. When asked the question, ESPN’s UFC Analysts Marc Raimondi said that it is definitely in the cards for Teixeira. “He can and is. Smith is an elite light heavyweight; he just went five rounds with champion Jon Jones last year. Teixeira finished him Wednesday night. Now, Teixeira is still looking up at Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz in the light heavyweight pecking order. I’d love to see Teixeira welcome back Thiago Santos off Santos’ injury in a contender bout. Santos looked great against Jones last year. Let’s see if Teixeira can get by his fellow Brazilian. If he does, there’s an outside chance Teixeira could be looking at a title shot for the first time since 2014.”

Overall, it was a great night of fights, and fans should be excited for what is to come from the UFC.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - JULY 06: Jan Blachowicz of Poland looks on after defeating Luke Rockhold of the United States by TKO in their UFC 239 Light Heavyweight bout at T-Mobile Arena on July 06, 2019 in Las Vegas,

With a potential shot at the UFC heavyweight title against champion Jon Jones, Jan Blachowicz needed to make some noise in his fight against Corey Anderson.

And that he did.

Blachowicz (26-8) delivered a devastating right hand to Anderson (13-5) in the first round of the contest at UFC Fight Night at Santa Ana Star Center. With this knockout, Blachowicz recorded the 16th finish in his professional career.

The Polish fighter now had seven recorded finishes in the first round, but this being his biggest. After a perfectly timed right to Anderson’s chin, followed by a hammerstrike to the already downed fighter, the fight was over before it seemed to begin.

Jones (26-1) was front and center at the fight and stood on his chair as Blachowicz shouted from the Octagon.

“You promised me, ‘You’re next,'” he said to Jones. “Let’s do this. Tell me when.”

Jones seemed willing to entertain a fight against Blachowicz.

“I thought he looked tremendous,” Jones said. “Crisp boxing, good takedown defense. I’m happy to see Corey Anderson eat his words, he’s been talking so much trash. …Jan has great knockout power, he’s very technical. His fundamentals are very sharp. I could totally see the UFC matching us up with each other.”

Saturday’s fight was a rematch that saw Anderson win via unanimous decision. Anderson, who looked good in the opening moments of the fight, seemed caught by Blachowicz who cautiously waited for the moment to land a knockout blow, snapping Anderson’s four-fight win streak.

Urijah Faber To Retire from UFC after Fight Night in December in Sacramento

Urijah Faber’s mixed martial arts career has come to an end.

Urijah Faber To Retire After UFC Fight Night In Sacramento

The former WEC champion and multi-time UFC title challenger, nicknamed “The California Kid,” announced Monday that he will retire following his next fight against Brad Pickett at FOX UFC Fight Night in Sacramento on Dec. 17.

“I’ve been kind of waiting for this, and this is actually going to be my last fight,” Faber, 37, told MMAFighting. “And it just feels right to do it in (Sacrament) in this new arena. It just feels like the right time and the right place.

“I’ve been waiting for this new arena to be built, I was waiting for that Dominick Cruz opportunity, and I feel like this is going to be an epic event and I can’t wait to do it in front of the people I love.”

The Golden 1 Center just opened in downtown Sacramento and will serve as host to the UFC event headlined by Faber’s teammate Paige VanZant when she faces Michelle Waterson in a straw-weight main event.

Faber has hinted at retirement several times recently after a career that spans 13 years and more than 40 fights in multiple promotions.

Faber has gone 1-3 over his last four fights while losing consecutive decisions to bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz, and most recently losing a bout to Jimmie Rivera at UFC 203 in September.

Despite those losses, the Isla Vista native remains one of the best fighters in the world at 135 pounds, and has decided now is the perfect time to fight one last match before hanging up his gloves for good.

“It took a long time to get to this point where I’m skilled enough and I’m in a position where I can fight and have a great time, but like my last fight, and my last couple fights, I haven’t found that emotional rise or fall,” Faber stated. “That is kind of a strange thing for me.

“I still love what I’m doing and that’s the reason why I’m doing it, but I just feel like this is going to be something that’s going to be an emotional thing for me, it’s going to be a passion thing. I’m going to train my butt off, and I just feel like right now is the right time.”

Faber has been devoted to MMA in Sacramento after founding his gym, Ultimate Fitness, which serves as home to Team Alpha Male. There, he established himself as a top fighter and coach, all while training several famous competitors like former bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw and current title contender Cody Garbrandt.
