Shaquille O'Neal to be Inducted into Hall of Fame

JaVale McGee was mocked yet again by Shaquille O’Neal and his TNT “Inside the NBA” colleagues on Thursday night, and the Golden State Warriors center finally decided he’s had enough of Shaq’s taunts.

Warriors Defend JaVale McGee After Feud With Shaq

McGee, a nine-year NBA veteran, has been one of Shaq’s most frequent targets on the regular TNT segment “Shaqtin’ a Fool” over the years. However, since McGee has been playing relatively well on a strong team this season, Shaq recently said he would ease up on his jabs at the 29-year-old.

The former NBA star evidently mean he would stop right away. Shaq decided to show a spoof of the popular 2016 MARVEL superhero film Doctor Strange in which he showed a montage of McGee’s worst falls, trips, shots, and general mistakes on the court over the years.

McGee unsurprisingly didn’t find the bit, which aired Thursday night on TNT, funny at all, and expressed his frustration with Shaq for ridiculing him like that. The Warriors center fired back on Twitter by suggesting Shaq might be “in love” with him.

Here is how McGee fired back at Shaq:

This is where the beef got ugly, when Shaq responded:

McGee’s teammates and coaches, notably Kevin Durant and Steve Kerr, quickly defended the center, criticizing Shaq for his famous ‘Shaqtin’ a Fool’ segment.
“You’re in this position where somebody on national TV is making fun of you night after night, it’s not the greatest thing for your reputation,” Kerr said. “I can tell you, I had a preconceived notion of JaVale before he got here that turned out to be totally false. And a lot of that was because of what goes on with Shaq’s ‘Shaqtin’ A Fool’ thing.”

Durant was harsher in his attack against O’Neal, pointing out the former NBA star’s own mediocre performances during his time as a player.

“Shaq was a s—y free-throw shooter. He missed dunks. He airballed free throws. He couldn’t shoot outside of the paint,” Durant said. “He was bigger than everybody. He didn’t have no skill, but he was bigger and stronger than everybody. And he’s still a great player, but you had your flaws, too, as a player. And he played on five or six teams, too. So it’s not like he was just this perfect center.”

It seems as though this feud could continue for quite some time.

Draymond Green did not shy away from taking a verbal jab at Paul Pierce in Thursday’s game between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers.

Paul Pierce Tweets Response to Draymond Green’s Trash Talk

In the opening minutes of the Warriors’ 123-113 home victory, Green began trash-talking the 39-year-old former Boston Celtics star, who is set to retire soon. The Warriors star taunted Pierce by saying he wouldn’t get a farewell tour like Kobe Bryant did in his final season last year because he wasn’t as loved.

“Chasing that farewell tour — they don’t love you like that,” Green yelled at Pierce– who was sitting on the Clippers’ bench– in audio picked up by TNT. “Couldn’t get no farewell tour — they don’t love you like that. You thought you was Kobe?”

The above video displays Green’s infamous kick-and-flop, a foul that has gained the Warrior a reputation as a dirty player in the past two seasons.

Green previously criticized Pierce for the latter’s comments about Kevin Durant, in which Pierce said the former Oklahoma City Thunder forward was less competitive for signing with the Warriors last summer.

“I just wonder at what point do they get bored talking about the same thing. You got all these guys talking. Like (Paul) Pierce today, like, dude nobody care what you did or who you did it for,” Green told our Warriors beat writer Anthony Slater in October. “Just give it a break. Everybody got something to say and want to take everything he say and twist it.”

Early Friday morning, Pierce fired back at Green’s Thursday taunts with a vicious tweet that delighted scores of NBA fans. Pierce mocked Green and the Warriors for believing they would win last year’s NBA Championship after setting a record with 73 victories. Golden State blew a 3-1 lead in the Finals to lose the 2016 title to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

One fan, however, was quick to remind Pierce that his team once blew a similar 3-2 playoff lead to the Lakers.

The Warriors’s win on Wednesday was their 10th straight over the Clippers dating back to the 2014-15 season.

The Clippers next host the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, while the Warriors will host the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night.

This time, the two greats have used social media for their feud.

It all began Wednesday night when Oakley, 52, responded to Barkley’s, 53, comments regarding the Cleveland Cavaliers following the team’s 123-98 Game 2 home victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Barkley suggested the Hawks need to get physical with the Cavs and commit a flagrant foul to make a point that they are standing up for themselves. Oakley is a Cleveland native. Barkley also added that he was especially displeased with Cleveland continuing to go for the NBA 3-point record late in the fourth quarter, and believed it to be disrespectful toward the Hawks.

Barkley, now an analyst for TNT who does not have a Twitter account, responded to Oakley’s tweet on the air after the game. “I don’t have to worry about my toughness,” Barkley said after the game. “Charles Oakley doesn’t like me, which is no big deal. I don’t like him or dislike him — I don’t think about him. He’s not important enough for me to think about.”

Although Oakley didn’t fire back immediately, the fight may not be over. Oakley, who was drafted by the Cavaliers as a first-round pick out of Virginia Union in 1985, boasts a 19-year NBA career, during which he played for the Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets. He consistently ranked as one of the best rebounders in the league.
