PHILADELPHIA, PA - JPHILADELPHIA, PA - JANUARY 03: Jalen Hurts #2 of the Philadelphia Eagles reacts against the Washington Football Team at Lincoln Financial Field on January 3, 2021 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Skip Bayless is back to saying outrageous things.

In yesterday’s show of Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, the sports personality was asked whether or not Patrick Mahomes should be the favorite to win the most valuable player award after Jalen Hurts‘ performance last night.

“Right now, the more valuable player has been Jalen Hurts to date,” Bayless said.

And Shannon Sharpe did not take too kindly to it, noting that Hurts is the most valuable player only on his team.

“Mahomes is the most valuable player in the NFL,” Sharpe fiercely said in response.

The two continued to debate and brought up wins and losses, along with statistics.

“You’re blinded by the numbers,” Bayless said.

And Sharpe lost his mind.

“You talk about numbers and that’s all you talk about Brady [and] Jordan,”

“Now numbers don’t matter,” a frustrated Sharpe added.

But it gets even better.

Bayless then brought up the eye test and claimed that he doesn’t like what he sees from Mahomes.

Sharpe asked, “Are you Blind? Can you not see that Mahomes is a better quarterback?

And Bayless later asked, “Who has played better?”

Sharpe immediately screamed “Mahomes!”

Last night, in the Philadelphia Eagle’s first loss of the season, Hurts threw for 175 yards along with two touchdowns and one interception.

On the season, Hurts has thrown for 2,217 yards, 14 touchdowns and has a quarterback rating of 63.7.

Mahomes on the year ranks first in the league in passing yards with 2,936 and first in touchdowns thrown with 25.

His QBR is 78.6, which ranks second in the NFL.

Hurts is a great player, but not on the same level as Mahomes – even in an impressive season.

But this is not the first and likely not the last time Bayless has said something absurd.

How about when he told his former ESPN First Take partner Stephen a Smith that Andrew Bynum was better than Dwight Howard in the prime of his career?

And who can forget when Bayless said that Tim Tebow was a bigger box-office draw than Kobe Bryant – forcing Smith to talk off the set.

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant returned to the court this month after missing 23 games. However, that may not be the biggest storyline featuring the two-time NBA champion.

Durant makes his voice known on social media, which often results in him being the subject of many scandals or stories on Twitter. The latest is a feud he got into with former NFL tight end and current sports personality Shannon Sharpe.

Sharpe is known for giving hot takes on the biggest sports names in the world. He appears on Undisputed with Skip Bayless, where the two often discuss controversial opinions about athletes. Sharpe – an admitted LeBron James fan – criticized Durant for a quote that implies he is better than James because he beat him in back-to-back finals appearances.

“Kevin Durant thought by winning the title, people would regard him universally as the best player in the NBA. Better than even LeBron James But very few people were willing to go there,” Sharpe said. “And then he’s like…Because he said it. ‘If LeBron James is the GOAT. I beat the GOAT twice, and hit the shot in his building. What does that make me?’”

There is just one problem; Durant never said what Sharpe accused him of saying.

“Y’all drunk uncle out here lying again. When did I say this,” Durant tweeted. Durant went on to let the public know that Sharpe should have done a better job as a journalist in his research because the quote came from a fake account.

“Shannon went on tv responding to this quote like I actually said this,” KD tweeted on Tuesday. “Gullible fans will believe it, or say ‘you was thinking this anyway’ it’s comedy at this point.”

The fake quotes began circulating online about five months ago. Although this was a mistake that Sharpe should have never made, he was not the only celebrity duped by the fake tweets. There were plenty of other sports personalities talking about them. However, Sharpe never apologized for the blunder. Instead, the NFL Hall of Famer has ignored Durant and even eventually blocked him on Twitter.

The war of words did not end there though. Sharpe went on to tweet about the fake account and called Durant out for joining the 73-9 Warriors. Then he called him out for joining Kyrie Irving and James Harden in Brooklyn.

Durant then replied by letting Sharpe know again that he was not replying to the right account. “Ole Shannon refuses to respond to me. Yo Shannon why are u using your platform to push fake quotes about me???” Durant wrote.

Durant seemed to take pleasure in noting that Sharpe ignored him and even posted a screenshot of the NFL analyst blocking him on Twitter. Durant jokinly wrote “but I’m sensitive,” in a tweet.

Today, it seems Durant got the best of Sharpe. Not to mention, following the exchange, the All-Star led the Nets to a blowout 127-97 victory over the Timberwolves. It was a good day for Durant.

Cavs Beat Warriors 120-90 in Game 3 of NBA Finals

Skip Bayless has some strong words about the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 114-91 road victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, although he claims he is simply repeating what LeBron James told him.

Skip Bayless on LeBron James, Cavs: ‘They’re Not Back Yet’

On Thursday’s episode of Undisputed, Bayless said Cavs fans shouldn’t get too excited about Wednesday’s win because it’s not all that important, and cited James, nicknamed ‘The King,’ as a source, who said his team still needs to improve on several fronts.

“They are not back yet,” said Bayless. The King told me two days ago this didn’t matter at all. The King told me two days ago this didn’t matter at all. So I’m going to throw this result out. It didn’t even count. It didn’t matter. The Cavs are still struggling.”

Bayless’s statement is particularly meaningful because despite what he is suggesting, Cleveland appears to be doing rather well for itself this season and could make the playoffs. Although they recently went through a slump, the Cavaliers (51-27) have now won four straight games and are first in the Eastern Conference, just one game ahead of the second-place Celtics with four contests left in the regular season.

“I should have seen this coming,” Bayless added. “It was the classic trap game for the Boston Celtics in their building.”

Even Celtics coach Brad Stevens admitted the Cavs dominated his team, particularly in terms of speed, in nearly every category on Wednesday.

”I thought they were better, quicker to the ball, you name it — they were quicker in every category, and made it really tough on us,” said Stevens. “We didn’t match them.”

Here is what James said following Wednesday’s victory:

“Nah, it’s no statement game,” said the forward, who finished with 36 points ten rebounds and six assists. “Statement for ourselves because we need to continue to get better, and tonight we did that. You know, that’s all it’s about.

We don’t need to have a statement for anybody but ourselves, and tonight was good for our group.”

James continued: “I’m even-keeled about the process going down the final stretches of the season, so there’s no ceiling too high for us. We understand that and we want to continue to get better.”

Several people and outlets on social media also sardonically pointed out the fact that it was nice to see the Cavaliers playing strong defense, unlike in some of their recent games:

Cleveland’s defensive improvement was particularly surprising given the absence of starting center Tristan Thompson, who will also miss Friday’s home game against Atlanta (at least) with a sprained right thumb.

The Cavs led the Celtics by as much as 29 points in the third quarter on Wednesday, and also out-rebounded Boston 51-38. James got a huge two-handed block on Marcus Smart in the second quarter. Kyrie Irving added 19 points and five assists for Cleveland, and Isaiah Thomas led Boston with 26 points.

The Hawks next host the Celtics on Thursday night before traveling to Cleveland on Friday.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft surprised scores of NFL fans Monday by stating that Tom Bradywho will be 40 in August, plans to play in the league for another six or seven years.

Skip Bayless Reacts to Robert Kraft’s Announcement about Tom Brady

“As recently as two, three days ago he assured me he’d be willing to play six, seven more years,” Kraft said of Brady. “And at the level he performed, there’s no one that would be happier than I, and our fan-base.

“I think Tommy’s sustained excellence is just unbelievable, and it’s a lifestyle. He’s in training now, it’s not like he’s stopped.”

The quarterback, who helped lead the Patriots to a 34-28 Super Bowl LI comeback victory against the Atlanta Falcons in overtime in Houston in February, has won five national titles in his NFL career, something which led many fans to call him the “G.O.AT.” (Greatest of All Time) after the 2017 Super Bowl victory. Most fans expected him to play pro football for one or two more seasons, maximum.

If Brady played seven more seasons, he would retire at age 46, which would make him the oldest-retired QB in NFL history:

Kraft also cited former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre as an example of a QB who retired with at least one good season late in his career.

“When you think about it, there’s one player at the age of 40 who had one good year: Favre.”

On Tuesday’s episode of ‘Undisputed,’ Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discussed Brady’s plan to keep playing in the NFL for several more years, and Bayless explained why he believed the QB’s plan isn’t completely crazy, citing how different he is from other passers in the league. After hearing his argument about how difficult it is to root against him because of his uniqueness, Sharpe seemed to agree with Bayless, and mentioned Brady’s particularly strict diet, which is limited to organic and gluten-free foods, whole grains like brown rice, quinoa and millet, and lean meats like organic steak, duck, chicken and wild salmon. Brady’s diet, which he shares with supermodel wife Giselle Bundchen, also excludes white sugar, white flour, caffeine and dairy. The couple’s training regimen is “80 percent vegetables,” according to their personal chef Allen Campbell.

“If Tom Brady says six or seven, I’m going to bet on seven,” said Bayless. “This is the one guy you don’t bet against. You know what, Tom Brady is unlike any quarterback I have ever followed or covered. He is shattering every mold of how a franchise quarterback should be on and off the field. He’s just different. He is completely different in every area of his life than any quarterback I’ve ever been around, and I don’t know, maybe you could correct me on this.”

Shannon Sharpe: “No, I think his nutrition, his training regimen, and the way he takes care of himself …”

Skip Bayless: “Just the way he handles himself. The way he carries himself. … He’s saying that he not only wants to just build the greatest ever legacy, he wants to build the greatest, longest legacy — and I’m just not going to be against him, because the fire still appears to be burning in him.”

Bayless then added: “He eats to win.”

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross also commented on Brady’s plan: “Good luck,” Ross said. “I love Tom Brady. He’s a Michigan guy. It’s OK. I don’t worry about them. We have to worry about my team.”

Ross continued to praise Brady, but added he wants to focus on strengthening his team.

Skip Bayless Leaving ESPN's First Take for Fox Sports 1

ESPN2’s “First Take” co-host Skip Bayless- much like his partner, Stephen A. Smith- is both loved and loathed, and has become known for making controversial statements and taking sides.

ESPN ‘First Take’ Host Skip Bayless Apparently Headed To FoxSports

And now, he is parting ways with the network after 12 years for the only other one that seems to want and need him: Fox Sports 1, which is attempting to create its own debate-show culture, with Bayless, 64, at its forefront.

ESPN stated Bayless’ final appearance on “First Take” will be the day after the NBA finals wrap up, although he will officially leave the network once his contract expires at the end of August.

Bayless’ departure comes after a series of other big-talent losses at ESPN. Just last year–for different reasons– Keith Olbermann, Bill Simmons, Jason Whitlock and Colin Cowherd all left. Earlier this week,  Monday Night Football announcer Mike Tirico said goodbye after 25 years and went to NBC Sports, where he is rumored to potentially replace Al Michaels on “Sunday Night Football” and Bob Costas as the Olympics prime-time host.

Bayless turned down ESPN’s offer last Friday and he is now speaking FS1 executives, particularly Jamie Horowitz, the former coordinating producer of “First Take,” who is the current president of Fox Sports national networks. He has worked with Bayless and, since going to Fox, coveted him.

Last year, Smith renewed his contract with ESPN to continue on “First Take” for over $3 million annually.

One of ESPN’s main concerns now is who to choose as Bayless’s replacement. What is certain is that whoever this person is will need to have strong chemistry with Smith, whose rambunctiousness occasionally gets him into trouble with his bosses. Smith was suspended following his comments on domestic violence during the 2014 scandal surrounding Baltimore Ravens quarterback Ray Rice.

Nevertheless, “First Take” has recently boasted strong ratings. The show attracted 412,000 viewers in the first three months of 2016, a record for the show during the first quarter. The show reached its peak average viewership in the fourth quarter last year with an average of  483,000 viewers.

By comparison, “Mike & Mike,” the two-man show starring Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic  that precedes “First Take,” only brought in 274,000 viewers in the first quarter this year, a viewership increase of 16 percent.

“I don’t mean to be flippant about replacing Skip easily,” said Norby Williamson, ESPN’s executive vice president for production. “But I feel very confident that we’ll continue to innovate the show and build on the success that the two of them had. It’s not like we haven’t faced things like this before. But we’ve been pretty adept at navigating successful change.”

ESPN will also need to find a replacement for Tirico, a likeable and versatile announcer who could have easily remained on the network for several more years.

Birthday-Cake, Johnny-Manziel, Cash-Money

In the history of ESPN, the show that causes the most “foot-in-the-mouth” moments has to be First Take. Currently hosted by Stephen A. Smith — who himself was suspended about questionable comments on domestic abuse — and the severely criticized Skip Bayless, the show has provided some genuinely great unscripted moments.

Perhaps one of the best/worst of 2014 happened today, when Bayless called Johnny Manziel an alcoholic and a liar: following a question from Smith, Bayless stated “[Johnny Manziel] has a problem. If you want to call him an alcoholic, I’ll go that far. I think he can’t handle his alcohol.” Well, first it is important to note that this is indeed his opinion: at the same time, to call someone an alcoholic because of what the media reports is a bit drastic. These comments are in response to the latest Manziel story: where he was fined for being late for a treatment on his injured hamstring. Some have suggested Manziel threw a party, which directly resulted in this fine, as well as Gordon’s suspension: but Johnny has since claimed these allegations are “100 percent false.”

Now, does Bayless have proof of this alcoholism, minus the few stories written about the star? Probably not: thus saying he has a problem undermines the disease, hurts the integrity of ESPN and worsens Manziel’s already tarnished image. And since today’s episode, plenty of fans have took to Twitter to show how appalled they were by Skip’s comments.

I for one have never despised Skip Bayless like other people: in fact, First Take is sometimes a very entertaining show. At the same time, a journalist should never make a statement like that without any evidence whatsoever. Yes, Manziel has made some poor decisions in the limelight: but can being a 22-year-old kid really be confused with such a serious disease — which affects roughly 17 million individuals in America.
