They’re clicking in nearly every facet of the game, with Nestor Cortes (surprisingly) anchoring the rotation. Michael King, Clay Holmes and Aroldis Chapman have the Yanks’ bullpen in top shape, too.

Aaron Judge has been mashing with 10 homers, as has Anthony Rizzo (nine homers) and Giancarlo Stanton (seven).

They opened the season with four games at home against the bitter rival Red Sox (2-1 with a rainout) and will close out the first half with three in the same manner. New York’s second half begins with two in Houston and ends with four in Texas.

The New York Mets are a constant punching bag (but sometimes good guys) in the MLB world. But that could soon change.

With a new owner, Steve Cohen, the team is poised to spend on free agents and retain their young talent. They’ve already jumped out to a 20-10 record (through games concluded on May 9)—good for the most wins in the NL and tied for the most in MLB.

Highly coveted free agent pitcher Max Scherzer will anchor the rotation, while Chris Bassitt, Carlos Carrasco, Taijuan Walker and Tylor Megill will fill out the rest.

First baseman Pete Alonso will look to keep slugging following his car accident this spring, while shortstop Francisco Lindor will look to have a better season than last year. Starling Marte, Brandon Nimmo and Mark Canha will patrol the outfield.

The Mets opened their season with four in Washington (3-1) and will close the first half with four in Chicago against the Cubs. Their second half opens with three at home against San Diego and two against the Yankees. The 2022 campaign concludes with three at home against the Nats.

However, the Marlins do have a slew of young talent, including pitchers Pablo Lopez and Jesus Luzardo, with the hard-throwing latter dazzling in his first start—striking out 12 in five innings with just two hits and a run.

Through games completed through May 2, the Marlins are 12-10 and sit in second place, three games back, of the Mets. Jorge Soler and Jesus Sanchez have both smacked three homers each and totaled seven doubles and two triples combined in that span.

They’ll close out the first half with four against the Pirates and three against the Phillies—all at home. The Fish will open the second half with one game at home against Texas and then three in Pittsburgh before closing the season with three at home against the Braves.

Your favorite pundit’s darling to lift the Commissioner’s Trophy in late October/early November, the Los Angeles Dodgers indeed have some lofty expectations heading into the 2022 MLB season.

> GET DEALS ON LOS ANGELES DODGERS TICKETS!

The team finished with a mind-boggling 106-56 record last season—and still didn’t even win the division, as the Giants amassed 107 wins.

This year, projections are a smidge more modest—a measly 101 wins and 97.3% chance of seeing the playoffs. But they could exceed that with the power of Trea Turner, the newly acquired Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Cody Bellinger, and, of course, Mookie Betts.

Walker Buehler, Julio Urias, and, obviously, Clayton Kershaw will spearhead the rotation as the Dodgers try to win their second World Series title in three seasons.

The team began the campaign with three in Colorado (1-2) and two in Minnesota (2-0). They’ll close out the first half with three in St. Louis and two “on the road” “in Los Angeles” against the Angels.

The second half begins with four against divisional-foe San Fran and three against the Nationals—all at home. The season concludes with six at home against the Rockies.

Next, their 2021 record of 77-85 is expected to go up by five wins, for 36.6% playoff odds.

That alone is worth the price of admission.

Anthony Rendon will join the two talents for a heck of a feared trio. Jared Walsh, who hit .277/.340/.509 with 29 home runs last year, will look to contribute too.

Following Ohtani in the rotation is former Mets great Noah Syndergaard and Patrick Sandoval, who could turn a few heads.

The Halos opened the season on April 7 with four against Houston (1-3) at home. They’ll close out the first half with three against those same Astros and two against the Dodgers, all at home.

To increase those playoff odds, Salvador Perez will look to build on last year’s 48 home runs, which tied him with Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. for the MLB lead. He’ll be joined by super-prospect Bobby Witt Jr.—about three years removed from high school—and Adalberto Mondesi.

KC’s pitching and lack of power may be a hindrance, but the team’s speed on the basepaths and fielding will make the Royals fun to watch.

The Royals opened their 2022 season on April 7 at home with four against Cleveland (2-2) and then traveled to St. Louis for two. They’ll close out the first half with four in Toronto and open the second half with three against the Rays and three against the Angels—all at home.

The team lost some stalwarts, but it still has Kyle Tucker, coming off a .294/.359/.557 campaign, Alex Bregman, Yuli Gurriel and Yordan Alvarez in its lineup.

Plus, Justin Verlander is back from Tommy John surgery and rejoins a rotation that had the second-lowest ERA last season (White Sox).

Highly touted rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena will have his work cut out for him, as he tries to fill Carlos Correa’s cleats.

The Astros began their quest for another World Series on April 7 in California for four against the Angels, then headed to Arizona for two and Seattle for three. They opened the home slate on April 18 against those same Angels and closed out the first half with three at home against Oakland.

The second half begins with two at home against the Yankees and commences with three at home against Phillies.

Once the most feared hitter on the planet, the 39-year-old Miguel Cabrera will begin his penultimate season in MLB—he’s signed through 2023 plus two option years, which are not likely to be picked up. He’s relinquished his spot at first base and his power has been all but sapped, but he’s still a future Hall of Famer and should be treated as such.

In addition to the proven players, the Tigers will have highly touted prospects such as Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson at their disposal.

A division title is not likely in the Motor City, but a Wild Card birth isn’t out of the question. Their quest begins on April 7 with six games at home against various Sox—first the White for three then the Red for three. They’ll close out the first half with three in Cleveland and begin the second half with two in Oakland. The 2022 Detroit Tigers season concludes with four in Seattle.

They traded away third baseman Nolan Arenado but added Kris Bryant. Randal Grichuk, C.J. Cron, and Ryan McMahon will anchor the lineup, while German Marquez, 27, and Kyle Freeland will headline the rotation. In addition, veteran closer Alex Colome was added to the bullpen.

The team will open the 2022 campaign on April 8 at home against the Dodgers and close the first half with four against the Padres and three vs. the Pirates—all in Colorado.

They’ll open the second half with four in Milwaukee and then two at home against the White Sox. Their 2022 season ends with three in San Francisco and six (!!!) in LA against the Dodgers.

Perhaps a new name can change the team’s luck. We’re about to find out, as Cleveland will play its first season under the “Guardians” moniker.

The then-Indians finished 80-82 last year, but, in addition to the name on the front, the names on the back are different as the team lost many players from last year. They did sign star 29-year-old Jose Ramirez—36 homers and 27 stolen bases last year—to an extension, though. The changes amount to a 77-85 projected record and 15% playoff odds.

If Shane Bieber can find his old form and Triston McKenzie continues how he ended last season, and Emmanuel Clase stays the best closer you’ve never heard of, the team can surpass those projections.

Aside from Ramirez and Franmil Reyes, Cleveland doesn’t have much offensive power. Young players like Amed Rosario and Bobby Bradley, among others, need to step up if the Guardians want to play in October.

The Guardians opened the season on April 7 in Kansas City for four games, then head to Cincinnati for two, and opened the home slate with three against the Giants and four against the White Sox. They’ll open the second half of the season against those same White Sox in Chicago and close out the campaign with five against the Royals—including three make-up games from the lockout—concluding on October 5.

Cool-name-haver Hunter Greene and Nick Lodolo, Tyler Mahle and Luis Castillo give Cincy four solid starters. While the lovable Joey Votto and Mike Moustakas will look to mash, and the speedy Nick Senzel will patrol center field. And catcher Tyler Stephenson will look to build on his rookie line of .286/.366/.431, and Tommy Pham will hope to bounce back after a down year in San Diego.

Two outfielders left the team, Jesse Winker and Nick Castellanos, but as we’ve seen there’s always addition by subtraction.

The Reds open the season on April 7 in Atlanta for four games. They’ll open their home schedule on April 12 with two games against the Cleveland Guardians, then close out the first half with three in New York against the Yankees and three in St. Louis vs. the Cardinals.

Their second half begins against the Cards as well and concludes with six games against the Chicago Cubs—three on the road then three at home.

Whatever way the chips may fall this season for the Reds, at least they got some headphones out of the deal.

In 2022, the south siders have an 85.5% chance to make the playoffs, with Lucas Giolito and Dylan Cease anchoring the rotation, and Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert and the newly acquired AJ Pollock patrolling the outfield. Some projections have them as the fourth-best team in the majors.

The injury bug seems to be lingering, though, as the ChiSox’ third baseman Yoan Moncada is expected to miss the first three weeks of the season (right oblique). The club is also dealing with injuries to righties Ryan Burr (right shoulder), Joe Kelly (right biceps) and Lance Lynn (right knee surgery), lefty Garrett Crochet (left elbow surgery) and outfielder Yermin Mercedes (left wrist).

The Sox will open the 2022 season with three games in Detroit followed by three-game home series against the Mariners and then Rays. They’ll begin the second half with three games at home against the Cleveland Guardians and close out the campaign with three at home against the Twins.

Tony La Russa has his work cut out for him as he tries to become the first manager to win a World Series with three different teams.

The club finished last season 29-52 and traded away many of its most beloved players from the 2016 World Series-winning team, namely Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez. As they say, though, that’s why they play the games.

The team has young talent for a potential rebuild that’s not so far-fetched—especially given the division in which they play. In addition, Chicago signed pitchers Wade Miley and Marcus Stroman, some relievers, catcher Yan Gomes, and infielders Jonathan Villar and Andrelton Simmons and Japanese rookie outfielder Seiya Suzuki.

The Cubbies open up their season last week with a three-game set against the Milwaukee Brewers. They’ll then head to Pittsburgh for two and Colorado for four. They’ll open the second half with three games in Philly, and they’ll close the season with four games at home against the Reds and then three in Cincy against those same Reds.

Their big-splash free-agent signing this offseason was shortstop Trevor Story, who inked a six-year, $140 million deal with the club after declining the Rockies’ qualifying offer.

However, team ace Chris Sale landed on the 60-day injured list with a rib cage injury. Nathan Eovaldi will step in in his absence.

The team was set to open the 2022 season in the Bronx on Thursday afternoon, but rain has moved that to Friday. After New York, they’ll go to Detroit for three games before their home opener on April 15 against the Twins.

The Red Sox’ second half begins at Fenway Park on July 22 with a three-game set against the Blue Jays before Cleveland comes to town for four games. They’ll close out the season with three at home against the Rays.

With 84.2% playoff odds heading into Opening Day, the Braves will look to notch their fifth straight NL East crown. They’ll do so with new addition Matt Olson, as well as Austin Riley, Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Dansby Swanson and Marcell Ozuna.

Max Fried, Charlie Morton and Ian Anderson will anchor the front end of the rotation, but they’ll need some youngsters to step up at the back end.

Ronald Acuna Jr.’s knee injury, which sidelined him midway through last season, will keep him out at least the first month of the season. And, of course, Freddie Freeman left for the Dodgers in free agency.

Atlanta opens its season on April 7 with a four-game homestand against the Cincinnati Reds and then will welcome the division-foe Nationals to town for three games. Their first road series is a four-gamer in San Diego and then LA for three with the Dodgers.

They’ll open the second half against the Angels at home.
