The Denver Broncos say they are aware of a video that shows defensive end Derek Wolfe throwing a punch in a Denver nightclub on Saturday night.

The video, first posted by TMZ on its website, appears to show Wolfe first having a verbal exchange with one or more individuals, after which pushing and shoving ensued. Wolfe is then seeing throwing a right-handed punch in the crowd.

According to TMZ, Wolfe was later bloodied during the altercation after being hit with an object–perhaps a bottle — and soon afterwards left the VIE nightclub.

Team sources claim local police were not called following the incident.

Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth, in a statement Tuesday morning, said: “Derek talked to us on Monday about the issue and it’s been addressed internally.”

Wolfe’s agent, Mike Simon, told TMZ: “He did not provoke the fight. He was trying to protect a friend. His recollection is that he was hit from the back with an object when he wasn’t looking.”

According to the Denver Post, the NFL has stated that Wolfe is unlikely to face discipline by the league. It remains unclear, however, whether the Broncos themselves will fine or impose their own other form of punishment on Wolfe.

Wolfe, 26, was selected 36th overall by the Broncos in the 2012 NFL Draft out of the University of Cincinnati. As of the end of the 2015 season, he has recorded 140 total tackles, 17 sacks, and has one fumble recovery.

This marks the second incident since the Broncos won Super Bowl 50 in February that one of their players has been caught on late-night video that has ended up in the hands of TMZ. Last month, former quarterback Brock Osweiler and his wife were caught trying to walk away from a verbal exchange with several people outside a pizza restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Osweiler is shown being pushed from behind in the video just before getting into a car. He did not respond to the push.
