LSU star running back Clyde EdwardsHelaire suffered a hamstring injury in practice mid-December and is questionable to take the field on Saturday. He has rushed for 1,290 yards with 16 touchdowns, but has also caught 50 passes for 399 yards with one touchdown.

Oklahoma will be without star defensive back Ronnie Perkins, backup running back Rhamondre Stevenson and true freshman Trejan Bridges, due to suspensions for failing NCAA drug tests caused by ‘weed’.

Ohio State vs. Clemson

Ohio State’s two Heisman finalist QB Justin Fields and DE Chase Young are set to lead Ohio State in what is said to be the more competitive of the two matchups against Clemson star QB Trevor Lawrence and LT Jackson Carman.

Young and Carman are a key matchup in this game as Carman will have to hold, will most likely some help, Young to keep him at bay.

The Lawrence-Fields matchup will be the big story of this game, as both quarterbacks have had impressive seasons. Lawrence has the knowledge and physical tools to distribute the ball quickly, as well as evade pressure regularly.

Fields, who has suffered some injuries, has continued to be dominant despite the setbacks. A fully healthy Fields would be a dynamic threat and will be needed agains the strong arm of Lawrence.

Kyler Murray revealed this week who he believes could be the next Heisman Trophy winner: LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow.

The Arizona Cardinals QB and No. 1 overall NFL draft pick this year — who won the Heisman in 2018 after a standout record at Oklahoma — suggested his successor with the Sooners, Jalen Hurtscould have potentially won this year’s trophy but lost his shot after his team suffered a major loss to Kansas State last month. Hurts transferred to Oklahoma from Alabama.

“Our guy kind of took a hit with that loss,” Murray said of Hurts, according to ESPN. “I think right now, if somebody had to win, it’d probably be Joe Burrow.”

30 SPORTS FIGURES WHO DIED IN 2019 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW

Burrow is second in the country in passing yards with 2,805. He boasts a 78.8% pass completion rating and averages 10.8 yards per pass. He has tossed 30 touchdown passes and recorded four interceptions, and has logged 15 sacks.

The LSU QB also set a major program record for TD passes in a single season this year:

The Tigers lead the AP’s Top 25 college football rankings and are second on the first College Football Playoff list. On Saturday, Burrow and LSU will face Alabama, the No. 2 team in the AP rankings and the third squad on the CFP list.

Hurts has logged 21 touchdowns and three interceptions this year, and has recorded 2.469 yards.

Other college football pundits have argued that Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa could be Heisman Trophy winner this year. The junior QB was a finalist for the trophy last year after leading the Crimson Tide to a national championship victory over Georgia in overtime.

Tagovailoa has logged 2,166 yards and 27 TDs to go with two interceptions this season for a 74.7% pass completion rating. On Oct. 19, he sustained an ankle injury against Tennessee and received surgery. The QB has since sat out. However, Alabama coach Nick Saban told ESPN Wednesday that Tagovailoa could be ready to play against LSU on Saturday.

Former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops is close to being named the head coach for Florida State’s football team, per sources. An announcement could come as early as the end of this week.

On Sunday, Florida State fired previous head coach Willie Taggart, who finished with a 9-12 record during his two-year tenure at FSU. The Seminoles have struggled so far this year, currently at 4-5 overall and 3-4 in the ACC. Sitting in fifth place in the ACC, Florida State will really need to pull it together if they have any hopes of catching up to the likes of Clemson and Wake Forest. It seems likely that they will rely on Stoops to do just that.

Stoops is currently the head coach and general manager of the Dallas Renegades in the XFL. Overall, Stoops is 190-48 in his coaching career, complete with a record of 9-9 in bowl games. In 2000, Stoops led the Sooners to the Orange Bowl and a National Championship. Later that year, he was awarded the Paul “Bear” Bryant Award and the Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award. Both supporters and critics have given him the nickname “Big Game Bob” over the years.

30 SPORTS FIGURES WHO DIED IN 2019 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW

Sources have said that Kendall Briles will remain as offensive coordinator and Jim Leavitt as defensive coordinator. The speculation with Briles remaining offensive coordinator would be that Stoops would be grooming him to take over following his retirement, placing him in a head coach in waiting role.

Leavitt and Stoops have previously worked together, coaching at Kansas State.

Florida State Athletic Director David Coburn has affirmed that Stoops remains on a candidate list, but that they have not yet decided on a head coach, nor has an offer been tendered. Coburn outlined their search for a new head coach and their use of a recruitment service.

“We are confident that DHR will be a valuable partner in assisting us with identifying the candidates who best match our priorities for a head coach,” Coburn said. “Glenn is a highly respected professional in the industry who will spearhead the effort for DHR. He shares our expectation that we will attract the coach to lead our program back among the nation’s elite.”

After their struggles to open the season, it would certainly help the Seminoles to decide on a new head coach soon and begin turning their season around.

Ex-Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray to declare for 2019 NFL Draft

When selected ahead roughly 3,000 other well–oiled football players as the NFL’s first overall pick, exceedingly high expectations flood quickly with little warning. Not just treading water, but also swimming forward is this years’s number one pick, Kyler Murray, who reportedly continues to impress during the Arizona Cardinals’s offseason programs.

Although Murray’s time with the Arizona only encapsulates a few weeks consisting of some basic conditioning and drills, his incredible abilities and character already appear evident to his teammates. Star running back David Johnson spoke first, mentioning Murray’s sneaky speed as he stated, “First off, he’s faster and quicker than I thought when we got on the field.” Johnson next praised Murray’s accuracy when throwing the ball as he commented, “I think a lot of people underestimate how great he can throw. He throws a dart. Accurate dart. Even in quarterback drills, seeing him throw it at the net and seeing him hit it five in a row. I think a lot of people underestimate his throwing ability.”

Adding to the applause, offensive linemen Justin Pugh spoke on how Murray continues to check all the boxes, meeting all expectations that his first overall draft selection warrants. Pugh stated, “Everything that I heard, he’s lives up to, and I’ve heard a lot of good things, so it’s been great so far.” Fellow offensive linemen J.R. Sweezy illustrated Murray’s impressiveness even further, as he compared the rookie to Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson, who Sweezy blocked for during his time as a Seattle Seahawk.

Aside from his physical capabilities, defensive star Chandler Jones praised the attitude Murray brings to practice each day as he stated, “Kyler’s confident, and he’s not a cocky player. For him to be the first overall pick, he’s a very confident player. He’s composed. I can see him construct, I see him getting guys together in the huddle, and as a young guy, that’s something that I admire about him.”

Murray took the the world by storm after his impressive campaign as quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners during last year’s college football season. Murray even won the Heisman trophy, later becoming the 56th player to win college football’s most prestigious award and get drafted first overall.  Murray eclipsed 4,361 yards throwing the ball last season while simultaneously scoring 42 touchdowns. Despite initially intending to pursue a career as a professional baseball player, Murray decided to continue playing football and move up to the professional level.

Murray will get his first chance to put his skills to the test once the season begins this September, as the Cardinals open up against the Detroit Lions.

Alabama Crimson Tide’s star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and Oklahoma Sooners star quarterback Kyler Murray split the top honors at the 2018 College Football Awards Thursday night in Atlanta.

Murray, Tagovailoa split College Football Awards

This sets up the showdown for Dec. 8, when they will contend for the Heisman Trophy at the Marriot Marquis in Times Square in New York City.

Tagovailoa received the Maxwell Award for Player of the Year, while Murray was named the nation’s Top Quarterback with the Davey O’Brien Award at the College Football Awards show in Atlanta.

The two went back and forth throughout the ceremony as Tagovailoa received the Walter Camp Award for best player in college football, and Murray won the Associated Press’ Player of the Year Award.

Tagovailoa may have the edge in the Heisman race, as the past four Maxwell winners and past five Walter Camp winners have all gone on to win the trophy.

This is the sixth time in the past 15 seasons that different quarterbacks took home the Maxwell and Davey O’Brien awards and in four of the previous five times, the Heisman went to the O’Brien winner.

It’s also interesting to note that only five Heisman winners have failed to win AP Player of the Year since the award started in 1998.

30 SPORTS FIGURES WHO DIED IN 2018 – TRIBUTE SLIDESHOW

Tagovailoa, a sophomore, has thrown 37 touchdown passes to just four interceptions while leading the undefeated Crimson Tide to the top spot in the College Football Playoff rankings.

Tua is the third Alabama player to win the Maxwell after AJ McCarron in 2013 and Derrick Henry in 2015.

Murray, a junior who plans to focus on baseball in the future, had a 96.0 quarterback rating, the highest in the Football Bowl Subdivision in at least the past 15 years. He was responsible for 51 touchdowns, tied for the most in the FBS.

Murray is currently on pace to become the first FBS starting quarterback to average at least 300 passing yards and 60 rushing yards per game.

Murray’s Davey O’Brien marked the fifth time an Oklahoma QB claimed the honor, after Baker Mayfield — who won last season — Sam Bradford in 2008 and Jason White in both 2003 and 2004.

Running back Billy Sims also won the award in 1978 before it became quarterback-exclusive in 1981. The five different players broke a tie with BYU for the most by any school.

Among the other awards given out in Atlanta on Thursday night:

Maxwell Award Player of the Year Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama
Walter Camp Award Player of the Year Tua Tagovailoa, Alabama
Home Depot Award Coach of the Year Brian Kelly, Notre Dame
Jim Thorpe Award Best Defensive Back DeAndre Baker, Georgia

Oklahoma's Trae Young declares for 2018 NBA Draft

Oklahoma Sooners star point guard Trae Young is leaving his team after just one year.

Trae Young Declares for 2018 NBA Draft News

Young, 19, has announced he will declare for the 2018 NBA draft. The news is hardly surprising, as Young astounded in his first season at Oklahoma. He led men’s Division I basketball in both points (27.4) and assists (8.7) per game.

The Sooners didn’t fare well in this year’s NCAA Tournament, however. Oklahoma was eliminated after an opening-round overtime loss to Rhode Island.

That loss wasn’t Young’s fault, however, as one reporter from BleacherReport noted:

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Young has already been predicted by several NBA pundits to be a top pick in this year’s draft.

“Before I start to move forward, I feel obligated to stop and take a look back,” Young told ESPN.

Young also said he regrets not being able to help Oklahoma win a national championship.

The 2018 NBA Draft will be held June 21 at the Barclays Center in New York.

The No. 15 West Virginia Mountaineers will travel to face the 12th-ranked Oklahoma Sooners on Monday night, and here are all the facts to know before the game.

West Virginia vs. Oklahoma basketball game news

West Virginia snapped their three-game losing streak and are now 17-6 (6-4 Big 12) after defeating Kansas State 89-51 on Saturday. On the season, the Mountaineers are averaging 81.0 ppg on 42.8% shooting from the field. They are also averaging 9.0 three-pointers per game on 33.9% shooting from beyond the arc. West Virginia’s top leaders have been Jevon Carter (16.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 6.8 apg, 3.2 spg), Daxter Miles Jr. (12.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.4 spg), Lamont West (10.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg), and Sagaba Konate (10.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 3.2 bpg).

Oklahoma dropped to 16-6 (6-4 Big-12) on the season after losing to Texas 79-74 on Saturday. Oklahoma held a 50-40 lead early in the 2nd half, however, struggled offensively down the stretch and couldn’t fight back after a 13-0 Longhorns run gave Texas a 70-66 lead with 3:42 left in regulation. The Sooners’ offense ranks first in the nation.

The Sooners have lost four of their last six games. Over that stretch, freshman star Trae Young has proven himself to be a powerful asset. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound guard has bounced between a high of 29 shots against Oklahoma State to a low of nine against Kansas. West Virginia has also dropped four of its last six games.

Bob Stoops shockingly and abruptly announced his retirement from the head coaching position with Oklahoma University Football on Wednesday after 18 seasons with the Sooners.

His replacement? 33-year-old Lincoln Riley, who will become the youngest head coach in Division I following Stoops’ departure. Riley spent two seasons under Stoops as the team’s offensive coordinator, and in 2015 won the Broyles Award, given the the nation’s best assistant coach. Riley was also previously the offensive coordinator at East Carolina University.

The announcement from Stoops comes at an unfamiliar time, as the 56-year-old led the Sooners to the 2016 Big 12 title, defeating in-state rival Oklahoma State 38-20 on Dec. 3. They then defeated Auburn in the All-State Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2 35-19 to finish the season at 11-2 and fifth in the AP poll.

Stoops spent all 18 of his coaching years at Oklahoma, and finished with a record of 190-48 over that span to ring up a .798 winning percentage. He was the longest-tenured coach in Division I, and now leaves Oklahoma with the all-time record for most wins in program history.

Only once in Stoops’ 18 seasons did the Sooners win less than eight games, and that was his first season in 1999, followed by a perfect 13-0 season in 2000. Stoops also coached two Heisman Trophy winners, Jason White (2003) and Sam Bradford (2008).

When commenting on his departure, Stoops said in a press conference, “Now is simply the ideal time for me and our program to make this transition.” Stoops also said he is “not sad” on the decision, and that Riley will provide a “seamless transition.”

In steps Riley into a favorable position, as returning to Norman is star quarterback Baker Mayfield and 2016 Fred Biletnikoff Award winner Dede Westbrook. The Sooners are once again favored to win the Big 12 Conference.

Riley’s first game at the helm will be on Sept. 2 at home against UTEP.

ESPN play-by-play announcer Brent Musburger decided to give his opinion on Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon during the first quarter of the Sooners’ 35-19 victory over the Auburn Tigers in Monday’s Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.

ESPN’s Brent Musburger Poorly Discusses Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon’s Violent Incident

Musburger’s attempt at discussing Mixon, who punched a woman in the face in 2014, was cringe-worthy to say the least.

The ESPN announcer didn’t even go into the details of the incident– although there is a video showing Mixon’s punch– and instead seemed to praise the 20-year-old running back and hoped he ultimately had a good NFL career.

Yikes.

“He’s just one of the best, and let’s hope, given a second chance by [head coach] Bob Stoops and Oklahoma, let’s hope this young man makes the most of his chance and goes on to have a career in the National Football League,” Musberger said.

Mixon accepted an “Alford Plea,” which is a guilty plea where a defendant in a criminal case does not admit to the criminal act and claims innocence, to the misdemeanor charge of acts resulting in gross injury/outraging public decency. The attack left the victim, Amelia Monitor, with multiple broken bones in her face.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled in December that the footage showing Mixon punching Monitor should be publicly released. The video was made public, and backlash quickly ensued. Many believed the rusher should be suspended from the Sugar Bowl. Instead, he was suspended for the entire 2014 season following the incident.

Mixon also issued an apology after two of the three claims in the lawsuit against him were dismissed.

During the first half of Monday’s Sugar Bowl, Mixon had 10 carries for 45 yards and a touchdown, as well as three catches for 73 yards. However, every time he touched the ball, fans at the Sugar Bowl booed. At the end of the first half, Auburn fans began chanting, “He hits women” during Mixon’s final carry. Mixon finished with 91 rushing yards and two touchdowns and caught five passes for 89 yards.

In the second half, Musburger passionately defended his first-half comments:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cZ1lbTHiDo

Auburn were lost Monday without their starting quarterback, sophomore Sean White. White suffered a right forearm injury– reportedly a broken arm– while taking a major hit from Oklahoma linebacker Jordan Evans near the end of the Tigers’ game-opening touchdown possession.

After White exited the game, backups John Franklin III and Jeremy Johnson were unable to score consistently, Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield and his team compiled 524 yards of offense and averaged 7.4 yards per play. Franklin led the Tigers on a single field goal drive, and Johnson led Auburn on a meaningless touchdown drive, scoring on a 1-yard pass to Jalen Harris as time expired.

Samaje Perine ran for 86 yards and a touchdown, passing Billy Sims to become Oklahoma’s all-time leading rusher. Perine’s teammates surrounded the junior in the fourth quarter to celebrate his achievement.

Mayfield finished 19-of-28 for 296 yards with touchdown passes to Dede Westbrook and Mark Andrews.

Kam Pettway– another player whose injuries hurt Auburn’s offense late in the season– led the Tigers with 24 carries for 101 yards. Oklahoma bested Auburn 299 yards to 160 in the second half.

Deshaun Watson and Clemson Tigers Fall 45-40 to Alabama Crimson Tide in National Championship Final

With College Football season just around the corner, fans are scrambling to find the appropriate gear for when their favorite program kicks off. Don’t worry, Amazon did all the work.

With affordable jerseys from SF Sports, you can support any school of your choosing for around $40.

Get the Gear: 5 College Football Jerseys You Must Have Before Kickoff

CLEMSON TIGERS NO.4 (Purple) Jersey: GET IT HERE!

Deshaun Watson took the college football world by storm last season, leading Clemson to the CFP National Championship and finishing third in the Heisman Trophy race.

Now, he is a year healthier and a year wiser.

This beautiful, purple, Tigers jersey will have everyone in Death Valley crooning come game day.

LSU TIGERS NO.7 (White) JERSEY: GET IT HERE!

Leonard Fournette was at the top of everyone’s Heisman watchlist in 2015, but a down year for LSU had him finishing sixth in the final voting tally.

Fournette rushed for nearly 2,000 yards in his sophomore season, foreshadowing a big year in 2016, which he began in the Tigers bowl game, two days before the calendar turned over. The Bayou Bengals running back posted a 212-yard rushing performance in the 2015 Texas Bowl, scoring four touchdowns.

Get your hands on this Fournette jersey before he runs away to the NFL.

OKLAHOMA SOONERS NO.6 (White) JERSEY: GET IT HERE!

Baker Mayfield was a nobody before last season.

A former walk-on at Texas Tech, Mayfield transferred to Oklahoma in 2014, but was forced to sit out a season due to NCAA and Big 12 rules.

He made it worth the wait.

In his first season with the Sooners Mayfield threw for 3,700 yards, finished fourth in the Heisman voting and led Oklahoma to the College Football Playoff.

The Sooners are circling the wagons again for 2016, so don’t miss the party.

OHIO STATE BUCKEYES NO.16 (Red) JERSEY: GET IT HERE!

J.T. Barrett waited patiently behind Braxton Miller, then waited some more after an ankle injury sidelined him for the 2015 Big Ten and National Championship games.

Now Ohio State is his team and this is the opportunity for all the Buckeyes fans out there to have THE most affordable jersey to represent THE Ohio State University.

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE NO.3 (RED) JERSEY: GET IT HERE!

Calvin Ridley burst onto the scene in his freshman season, earning Freshman All-American honors en route to a National Championship.

Ridley broke Amare Cooper‘s record for freshman receiving yards during a remarkable season for the Crimson Tide where he led the team with 89 receptions for 1,045 yards.

Now that he’s a sophomore, this jersey has some staying power.

So hurry up and lockdown this jersey so you can scream “Roll Tide” with pride.

Saturday’s NCAA gymnastics team final in Fort Worth, Texas was expected to be close, and it was.

Oklahoma Sooners Steal Show At NCAA Gymnastics Championships

After just two events, Alabama led Oklahoma 98.700-98.675. Going into the last rotation, any of the top four teams had a chance at winning. The spread between first-place Oklahoma and fourth-place Florida was only 0.200.

However, in the end the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners held onto the top spot to reach their first solo national title in school history. (Oklahoma and Florida tied to win the national championship in 2014)

The Sooners’ victory undoubtedly came as a bit of a surprise to many who believe there were many other much-stronger contenders for the national title. Here are six reasons why they won on Saturday:

They learned from last year. The top-ranked Sooners fell apart at the 2015 Super Six team final after early mistakes on bars. “Vault was not what we are capable of but instead of letting it break them down, they came back stronger and fought on bars, beam and floor all the way to the end,” coach K.J. Kindler said.

They’d lost this year. Oklahoma was ranked first for the entire 2015 season and came into the NCAA Championships undefeated. Therefore, a lot of pressure was put on the Sooners. This year, however, they lost to LSU in the very first meet of the season. “To me that was a table-turner,” Kindler said, “Last year we had the burden of an undefeated season on our shoulders and I felt like it was lifted immediately. I always feel like you grow from failure and I thought our team handled that loss well and decided they did not want to do that again.”

They don’t have any weak events, or weak scores in the lineup. Many teams have both stars and table-setters–in other words, the gymnasts who set up the others for the big scores. However, Oklahoma has one of the most complete teams in the NCAA, and on Saturday, they had no score lower than 9.775.

They are the most technically precise team in the country. Oklahoma’s routine execution–from the form, to the presentation, to the height of their skills–is near-perfect. The Sooners clearly spend a lot of time on the details, and the work put in shows.

The gymnasts really like each other. “This group in particular has a little extra something when it comes to their chemistry that I can’t really describe, and I always believe that chemistry wins championships,” Kindler said. “They are certainly technically good and they certainly executed well but I really feel that heart and that chemistry put them over the top at the end.”

They brought down the house on floor. The Sooners luckily ended their meet on the floor, and they arguably have the best floor lineup in the country. They have both beautiful dancers and powerful tumblers.

Senior Haley Scaman earned a 9.95, the highest score of the day. “In the beginning of my dance … I saw Keeley [Kmieciak] sobbing, and I kind of had a feeling we won then,” Scaman said, “I knew I had to stay focused. I wanted to finish with a bang on my last floor routine of my career.”

The Sooners also had the highest team total on floor, sealing their victory over LSU by 0.225.

When the top two teams in the country share a conference and meet early in the regular season, something special is usually in store. That was exactly what the nation got on Monday night, when the Kansas Jayhawks survived a triple overtime battle with the Oklahoma Sooners 109-106.

“All of us together,” Kansas’ Perry Ellis said. “There were so many plays going both ways. We just kept fighting.” The senior forward scored 27 points and added 13 rebounds on the night. He was supported by Wayne Selden Jr.’s 21 points and Devonte’ Graham added 22, including the go-ahead points in the final frame.

Oklahoma’s scoring was led by Buddy Hield, who had a career-high 46 points; Jordan Woodward added 27 and Ryan Spangler pitched in 14 points and 18 boards.

The game was decided inside the final minute. Woodward gave Oklahoma a 106-104 lead; Kansas was able to cut the margin to 106-105 with just under 20 seconds remaining. Heild was then stripped of the ball, allowing the Jayhawks to rush down the floor, where Graham was fouled and sunk both free throws.

Even then, though, the Sooners still had a chance to win, but Heild threw away the inbounds pass. “I wish I had one more overtime,” he said after the game.

Kansas now sits at 13-1 while Oklahoma is 12-1 but a game like Monday’s makes it clear these two teams are both serious contenders.

“Given what’s at stake and the stage and all, I don’t know that I’ve been in one better,” Sooners coach Lon Kruger said. “It was terrific, a grind both ways.”

For the first time during his Oklahoma Sooners career, Joe Mixon faced the media. And, despite the reporters’ best efforts, he wouldn’t comment on the punch that cost him an entire year of football.

Last July, Mixon punched a woman in a sandwich shop before the start of training camp. School president David Boren, athletic director Joe Castiglione and coach Bob Stoops all viewed a video of the incident and decided to suspend Mixon for the entire season.

But even when he returned to action this year, he was not made available to the media until Tuesday. That was because College Football Playoff rules state that every player on a team’s roster must be made available for interviews.

“All I’ve got to say is, I’m here to answer all football questions,” Mixon said. “Nothing else about any situation other than football.” He still faced plenty of questions about the incident, though.

Mixon filed Alford plea to a misdemeanor assault charge. He agreed to perform 100 hours of community service and receive counseling; the running back was also given a one-year deferred sentence.

The notable quotes of Mixon’s availability are below, as reported by ESPN’s Jake Trotter

  • On whether he had any regrets: “No.”
  • On whether he had a desire to answer non-football questions: “No.”
  • On whether he owed it to the fans to address what happened: “No. Not here.”
  • On whether his incident might have alienated female football fans: “That’s on them.”
  • On what it meant to get a second chance: “Meant a lot. I’m happy, right?”
  • On whether he feels sorry about what happened: “I already told you, I’m not answering that.”
  • On whether he will ever address what happened: “My lawyer will.”

After losing his starting job to Baker Mayfield this fall, Trevor Knight will be allowed to leave the University of Oklahoma.

Head coach Bob Stoops will not block the quarterback, who is on track to graduate this semester, from transferring to any other school, even those in the Big 12, ESPN confirmed.

Knight will be eligible to play for his new program in 2016. The San Antonio native has 25 touchdowns in his NCAA career. While he has not reached the heights of 2013, when he was discussed as a possible Heisman Trophy contender, he will surely be welcomed with open arms by a program who needs help under center.

Update: University of Oklahoma President David Boren has just tweeted another statement. He has expelled the two students seen leading the chant because “The chant was not only heard by those on a bus, but also impacted the entire university community.”

After a weekend filled with scandal, it appears the fallout has begin to hit the University of Oklahoma. High school junior Jean Delance has decided to decommit from the school. And while many have pointed out that he has been wavering the last few months and his backing down from the Sooners’ offer was eventual, the racist video still played an important role.

Originally, he posted a quick Twitter post stating that he wanted to thank the Sooners organization for the offer, “but I have officially de-committed from Oklahoma University. Nothing to do with the staff or team, I’ll be reopening my recruitment.”

https://twitter.com/JeanDelance74/status/574965201629409281

Following this post, he was contacted by Bob Przybylo of Sooners Illustrated and there he confirmed that the racist chant factored into his decision.

Something he further confirmed in an interview with a local news station.

Since then, has announced through his Twitter page that he has fielded offers from various schools including Alabama.

A decommittment hits Oklahoma wear it hurts, but this problem is also bigger than football and needed to be addressed quickly. Oklahoma President David Boren decided to respond swiftly and appropriately.

First and foremost, they decided to disband the SAE chapter of their university and then suspended all of their members accordingly — a further investigation could result in the students’ expulsion.

Following this statement, the SAE logo was taken down from the house and all members had to remove their items by midnight: but they did so with a police escort because many feared for these kids’ lives.

As for other reactions to the video and the president’s actions: Sooners potential recruit Dontavious Jackson told Bob Przybylo that the suspension of the Frat “let me know the whole university doesn’t think like that.”

Students are still outraged and protesting the incident: with one person even defacing the SAE’s former house with the words “tear it down.”

The University of Oklahoma has a lot of cleaning up to do: the findings of an investigation has the potential to negatively effect the football program and the campus. But it also became the latest example of the racism problem in America: something no college wants to be.

The Oklahoma team, which a large portion is African American, took great exception to this. Yesterday, the team marched arm-in-arm and had a moment of silence in protest.

But one of the athletes decided to take to Snapchat to talk to friends and the SAE members. Again, warning the following video is NSFW.

Oklahoma junior linebacker Eric Striker wanted to call out not only SAE, but all the white fraternities.

As for all the people claiming that racism is over, this release video, alongside the Ferguson report, shows that our country still has a more hurdles to jump over.
