Following being released from NXT and the WWE, it was expected that Deonna Purrazzo would be joining All Elite Wrestling for the next chapter of her wrestling career. Instead however, Purrazzo took an alternate route and opted to join Impact Wrestling.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Purrazzo explained her decision, saying that AEW had reached out to her, but felt more comfortable with Impact. “I mean like, some people had reached out, but it was all kind of like fleeting, there was no like, ‘You’re gonna have a meeting’ or, ‘We’re gonna sit down and do this.’ Luckily, I had been to Impact before, I know the people there and it was right away like, ‘We’d like to have you, let’s talk about it when we can.’ It was just more of a secure thing,” she said. 

Purrazzo would later mention that she wanted to hone in on some of her skills as well as rekindle some of her passion for wrestling following her tenure with NXT and hopes to possibly join AEW in the future.

Over the weekend, prominent sports entertainment journalist Dave Meltzer reported on f4wonline.com that former NXT superstar Chris Hero would be returning to the WWE.

Josh Nason then published a report on Hero’s “return” on f4wonline, citing Meltzer and the latter’s anonymous WWE source. Unsurprisingly, the internet rapidly began spreading the news, but Hero was also quick to dismiss the rumors as false. He took to Twitter Monday morning to express his frustration with all the false reports:

Surely, WWE’s massive recruitment drive from the independents may have fueled many of these rumors. Hero himself has previously stated that he’s open to the idea of a WWE return, and even following his NXT release in 2013, had declared the following publicly:

“In my exit interview, they said we would take a little while and revisit later on and see if things change”.

During his NXT career, Hero wrestled under the name Kassius Ohno, an idea he came up with to own the initials KO (later popularized by current WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens). He was originally touted to be one-third of The Shield, the faction that eventually became comprised of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

Since his NXT release, Hero– who will be 37 later this month has been a consistent fixture on the independent circuit, in promotions like Dragon Gate, Evolve and Progress Wrestling.

One can’t really blame Hero for being so upset. Reporting and spreading any type of fake news can nearly always have disastrous consequences.

NXT General Manager William Regal came to the ring in Orland on Wednesday to introduce NXT’s most recent free agent signing, and the crows was clearly impressed when Austin Aries walked onto the stage.

However, fans barely had a chance to take in the Greatest Man Who Ever Lived and his new entrance theme when Baron Corbin ran in to remind Regal of his “eye for an eye” promise by completely blindsiding Aries during his entrance and attacking him.

Corbin was removed from the #1 contender program by the GM, although it looks like he’s re-inserted himself into a new rivalry with Aries.

We will wait to see what happens between these two when NXT returns to Full Sail next Wednesday.
