LeBron James apologized Sunday after sharing an insensitive Instagram post of a song lyric that referenced “Jewish money,” although the NBA will reportedly not reprimand the King.

LeBron Posts 21 Savage Song Lyric About ‘Jewish Money’

According to ESPN, the league won’t yet take any action to discipline Los Angeles Lakers star James — who will turn 34 on Sunday — over the incident.

James appeared on Saturday to quote the song “ASMR” by 21 Savage when he wrote the phrase “We been getting that Jewish money. Everything is Kosher.” The Lakers power forward has 45.9 million followers.

The King issued his apology after his team’s 107-99 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday evening.

“Apologies, for sure, if I offended anyone. That’s not why I chose to share that lyric,” James told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “I always [post lyrics]. That’s what I do. I ride in my car, I listen to great music, and that was the byproduct of it. So, I actually thought it was a compliment, and obviously it wasn’t through the lens of a lot of people. My apologies. It definitely was not the intent, obviously, to hurt anybody.”

James’ controversial post came just one day after a segment of his HBO series The Shop aired that showed him making another fiery statement.

In the clip that aired Friday, James lambasted NFL team owners, calling them “old white men” with a “slave mentality” with regards to their players. The Lakers star appeared to primarily cite the league’s response to national anthem protests like kneeling before games as a reason for his claim.

James then compared the NFL to the NBA and praised Commissioner Adam Silver without naming him, saying he has been very cordial in his approach to players wanting to peacefully protest or make any type of bold statement.

“In the NFL, they got a bunch of old white men owning teams and they got that slave mentality,” James said. “And it’s like, ‘This is my team. You do what the f— I tell y’all to do. Or we get rid of y’all.’ ”

He continued: “I’m so appreciative in our league of our commissioner. He doesn’t mind us having .. a real feeling and be able to express that. It doesn’t even matter if Adam agrees with what we are saying, he at least wants to hear us out. And as long as we are doing it in a very educational, non-violent way, then he’s absolutely OK with it,” he added.

James has voiced support many times for fellow athletes like Colin Kaepernik who have spoken out on social issues like racial injustice.

While the rest of the cheerleading squad stood in unison during “The Star-Spangled Banner,” one woman knelt down and put her hands on her hips.

The woman pictured kneeling ahead of the 49ers’ matchup against the Oakland Raiders has yet to be identified.

The 49ers are the former team of Colin Kaepernick, who famously knelt during the anthem back in 2016 to highlight police brutality against African-Americans.

The movement then spread around the league and took several different forms, with some choosing to link arms in solidarity rather than kneel.

In May, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell introduced a policy that would require players to stand or remain in the locker room during the during the anthem.

The policy would fine players who chose to sit or kneel during the pre-game performance. The NFL put the policy on hold for the 2018 season to allow for further discussion between the league and the union, the NFL Players Association.

LeBron James Criticizes Donald Trump

“What I’ve noticed over the past few months, [is] he’s kinda used sports to kinda divide us, and that’s something that I can’t relate to,” the Lakers star told CNN’s Don Lemon. “I can’t sit back and say nothing.”

James lamented the president’s frequent criticisms of athletes like Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who protested the national anthem to make statements about racial disparity. The former Cleveland Cavaliers star also mentioned Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors’ refusal to visit the White House after winning this year’s NBA championship.

The 33-year-old, three-time NBA champion went on to describe his experience with diversity in sports when he was growing up.

“Sports was the first time I was ever around someone white,” James said. “I got an opportunity to see them and learn about them, and they got the opportunity to learn about me … And I was like, ‘Oh wow, this is all because of sports.'”

This week, James — a father of three who has done a lot of community outreach through his foundation — teamed up with the public school system in his hometown of Akron, Ohio to open a school for at-risk youth called “I Promise.”

“We want every kid that walks through this school to be inspired, to come … away with something, something where they can give back,” James stated about the project. “For kids, in general, all they want to know is that someone cares. And when they walk through that door, I hope they know that someone cares.”

James cited Martin Luther King Jr. and Muhammad Ali as two great leaders from history who overcame adversity and whom he hopes today’s children can learn to emulate.

Comedian Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show, poked fun at James’ new venture by citing a key mistake The King’s Cavaliers teammate JR Smith made during the NBA Finals against the Warriors in June. Smith seemed to have thought the Cavs were ahead late in Game 1 when in fact the score was tied.

James also thanked former president and First Lady Barack Obama and Michelle Obama after the latter posted a tweet with the list of things “I Promise” pledges to help children with.
