Despite the New York Jets having a 0-6 start to their 2025 season, head coach Aaron Glenn defended starting quarterback Justin Fields.

Their sixth consecutive losing game was on October 12, when the Jets faced the Denver Broncos in London.

The game was held at the Northumberland Development Project, where the Broncos dominated the game to win 13-11.

It was a bad day for Fields as he only completed 9 out of the 17 pass attempts for a gain of 45 yards.

When asked by a reporter if Fields was going to start as the quarterback for week seven, Glenn was dismissive.

On Monday, Glenn gave a more precise response on whether or not Fields was going to start the game.

Glenn recognized that Fields did not play like he used to, but they will work on it.

“I don’t think you just bench a player after having one true bad game,” Glenn said. “I thought the other games he played fairly well.”

Glenn then said that Fields also knows that he needs to play better, and he knows that better than anyone else.

Glenn also said that the blame is not only on Fields but on other players as well, and he will not put the blame on only Fields.

Throughout the Broncos-Jets game, the Jets had negative 10 on passing yards, while the Broncos had 168 passing yards.

Week 7 comes with a bigger opponent; the Jets will face the 3-3 Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Oct. 19.

Wide receiver Xavier Gipson has been claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles after being released by the New York Jets for his costly fumble during the season-opening game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In a corresponding move, the Eagles waived Kenyon Green, an offensive lineman.

Gipson lost the ball early in the fourth quarter when the Jets held a 26-24 lead. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took advantage of the fumble two plays later, throwing an 18-yard pass to wide receiver Calvin Austin III and sealed the win with Chris Boswell’s 60-yard field goal as the game’s final minute began.

Head Coach Aaron Glenn stated that the team will take undisciplined mistakes seriously this season.

“Man, we can’t have turnovers,” Glenn told reporters. “We can’t do it. We have to be a more disciplined team. There were some penalties that happened in that game that were true discipline issues and, again, that’s something that will be addressed because you will not be on the field with this team if you’re going to cause us to lose games.”

Gipson was signed to the Jets as an unrestricted free agent in 2023. As a wide receiver, he played 35 games with 27 receptions for 268 yards and one touchdown in his career.

Despite the Jets’ confidence, Gipson failed to remain consistent. He muffled several punts last season, and the coaching team publicly addressed the need to maintain ball security.

The Steelers taking advantage of another one of Gipson’s fumbles proved to be the tipping point. Glenn explained that Gipson’s release is about taking accountability.

“We’re trying to get the best player on this team that can play a role. At this point, I felt like we needed to have a change at that spot,” Glenn said. “It’s not just that, as far as accountability, it’s accountability in everything we do.”

The Jets officially signed wide receiver Isaiah Williams from the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad following the announcement of Gipson’s release.

Tyreek Hill suffered a knee injury on Monday night against the New York Jets. In the second half, he was escorted off the field after being tackled by Jets’ defender Malachi Moore. The Miami Dolphins won the game 27-21.

Hill was later diagnosed with a dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments, including his ACL. He will require surgery, which is expected to occur on Tuesday. It is likely Hill will miss the rest of the 2025 season.

Hill’s absence leaves a massive void in Miami’s offense. The five-time Pro Bowler has been the team’s most dynamic playmaker since joining the Dolphins in 2022. After exiting the field, the Dolphins stated, “he was being taken to a local hospital for evaluation.”

It was later confirmed by head coach Mike McDaniel “that Hill will need surgery.” With Hill out for what looks like the rest of the season, the team will need to heavily lean on wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, as well as Darren Waller. This will also give rookie Malik Washington the opportunity for more playing time.

The injury comes at a critical point in the season for Miami, as they had just earned their first win of the season that night. The path ahead for Miami appears challenging as it attempts to regain momentum. The Dolphins face a tough stretch of games in the upcoming weeks, starting with a matchup against the Carolina Panthers. This will be the Dolphins’ first test of how the offense will look without Hill. The Panthers also being 1-3 makes the playing field a little more even. Still, without Hill’s explosiveness, Miami will need to find new ways to generate big plays and keep pressure off quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Beyond the upcoming game against Carolina, Miami’s season will depend on how quickly its offense can adapt. Waddle and Waller must rise to the occasion if the Dolphins hope to stay competitive.

While Aaron Rodgers proved he is still an elite quarterback in the Pittsburgh Steelers’ dramatic 34-32 win over the Jets, the run defense remains a glaring liability.

Rodgers completed 22 of 30 passes for 224 yards, starting off strong with a touchdown during the Steelers’ opening drive. He added three more touchdown passes and engineered two fourth-quarter drives that set up placekicker Chris Boswell’s 60-yard field goal in the final 1:03 of the game.

At 41, Rodgers became the first player to throw four touchdown passes in a game against a former team since Ryan Fitzpatrick in 2010. After an injury-shortened season, the victory gave Rodgers redemption against the New York Jets.

“There were probably people in the organization that didn’t think I could play anymore,” Rodgers said after the game. “So, it was nice to remind those people I still can.”

Rodgers’ gameplay accuracy and attitude on the field silenced any doubts about his health and age. Head coach Mike Tomlin credited Rodgers for his indifferent composure despite the MetLife Stadium crowd giving him a somewhat hostile welcome.

“He doesn’t care,” Tomlin said. “It was Week 1. It was a lot to be excited about. We got the victory, it’s on to the next one.”

Before the game, Rodgers was seen reunited with a former Jets equipment staffer, Karan Patel, with whom he would consistently play passes during his injury recovery in 2023. The moment was a testament to Rodgers’ complex tenure with the Jets.

The game also highlighted concerns with the offense, echoing previous analyst warnings. The offensive line allowed too much pressure and four sacks. The rushing game remains overall underdeveloped, posing a threat later in the season, even if Rodgers still excels in critical moments.

Rodgers’s almost seamless transition into the Pittsburgh system gives hope for the team’s season-long performance.

The Steelers will return home on Sept. 14 to face the Seattle Seahawks. The New York Jets will be looking to regroup as they face the Buffalo Bills in Week 2.

The New York Jets signed Justin Fields to a two-year, $40 million deal this offseason, hoping he would come in and step up as the team’s starting quarterback. Through two weeks of training camp, he has yet to do that. And it seems his struggles are only mounting.

SNY NFL reporter Connor Hughes has been observing Jets practice and had bad news for those hoping Fields would play well with his new team. According to Hughes, in the two practices before Tuesday, Fields was 2-of-10 and 4-of-16.

Things may have been even worse on Tuesday. Hughes reported Fields was 9-of-17 with two interceptions and didn’t have a completion of more than five air yards. He was sacked three times and also went 1-of-4 with an interception during seven-on-seven work.

That means Fields is 15-of-43 (35%), with two interceptions during full-team work over the last three practices.

“Some of it’s me, some of it’s dropping the ball,” Fields said after practice. “It’s plain and simple things.

“Our guys are talented enough to get the job done. When we have the days we don’t want to have, it’s how we respond. Days like this – a day we didn’t want to have – it’s a great opportunity to see how we’re going to respond on Thursday [in the next practice].”

In his four-year career, Fields has completed 61.1% of his passes for 7,780 yards, with 45 touchdowns and 31 interceptions. His career passer rating is 83.9. He is dealing with a toe injury.

Fields spent his first three seasons with the Chicago Bears after they made him the 11th pick in the 2021 NFL draft. He was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers before the 2024 season. Fields opened the season as the team’s starting quarterback, but was demoted when Russell Wilson was finally healthy.

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields was carted off the practice field Thursday morning with a toe injury on his right foot.

A source told ESPN that the injury is not considered significant and that the quarterback should not be sidelined for long. Jets coach Aaron Glenn said after practice that he did not yet know the severity of Fields’ injury.

Fields pulled up after rolling right and throwing an incomplete short pass to tight end Jeremy Ruckert. Fields went down, sat on the ground briefly and limped off the field with the assistance of a trainer.

He spent a few minutes in the injury tent before a cart arrived on the scene. Fields was taken to the locker room, sitting in the passenger seat of the cart, before walking into the team facility under his own power.

Glenn said he suspected Fields was hurt when his foot was stepped on by a teammate during the Jets’ second practice of training camp but that he needed to see the film.

“When anybody goes down, there’s a lump in my throat,” Glenn said. “I hate injuries for any player. But the thing is, I want to make sure what the injury is before I move forward on my thought process.”

Fields, who signed a two-year $40 million contract as a free agent, is the Jets’ undisputed starter. The former first-round pick of the Chicago Bears went 4-2 as the starter for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year, completing a career-high 65.8% of his passes for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns and one interception in 10 total games played.

Tyrod Taylor replaced him in team drills. The Jets also have Adrian Martinez, the 2024 United Football League MVP, and rookie Brady Cook on their roster, but neither has thrown a pass in an NFL game.

“I think the most important part is, if anything does happen to Justin, I don’t think there’s any drop-off as far as what we want to do when it comes to play,” Glenn said.

The New York Jets had the highest expectations out of any NFL team last season, heading into the season with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers returning from a torn Achilles suffered on the first drive of the 2023-2024 season. This season would quickly end in disaster after the team fired former head coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start to the season. This was only the beginning of the team’s problems, from the inconsistent coaching staff to a shaky offensive line and Rodgers’ off-field antics. The team would end the season going 5-12 and land a top 10 pick in the NFL draft after having Super Bowl aspirations for the first time in 15 years.

The Jets entered the offseason with a ton of question marks, starting with the head coach. They hired Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who reunited with the Jets after previously playing for them from 1994 to 2001 as a cornerback. Glenn had spent his entire coaching career on the defensive side of the ball previously as a defensive backs coach for the Browns and Saints, before becoming the Lions’ defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2024. Glenn will finally bring the Jets a culture that it has been missing for the last 15 years since the team last made the playoffs.

The Jets also made another huge move, bringing in new general manager Darren Mougey, after firing Joe Douglas after the team started the season 3-8. With all the front office moves, the biggest question of the Jets’ offseason still hadn’t been answered: Was Rodgers going to be back with the team? The four-time MVP had one of his worst seasons as a starter, had just turned 41 and hadn’t looked the same since his Achilles injury from 2023. The team would ultimately come to the decision to cut Rodgers and sign quarterback Justin Fields from the Steelers to a two-year $40 million deal. Fields would reunite with his former college teammate, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, as well as his former college center, Josh Meyers, who was signed from the Packers.

With all the excitement around the reunion between the former Ohio State Buckeyes, the team lost many key players like CJ Mosley, Davante Adams, D.J. Reed, Morgan Moses and Ashtyn Davis.

At the NFL Draft, the Jets would improve their offensive line by picking tackle Armand Membou out of Missouri after having one of the worst offensive lines in the league. The team would also add to their lackluster offense by drafting tight end Mason Taylor out of LSU in the second round, as well as wide receiver Arian Smith out of Georgia.

New York heads into 2025 with the 26th most challenging schedule in the NFL, according to Fox Sports, opening their season with a revenge game for expected starting quarterback Fields vs the Steelers. The Jets only play five playoff teams from last season and will match up against the NFC South and AFC North teams. In a division that has been won by the Bills five seasons in a row, the Jets will have to rely on Fields to help elevate their offense to win the division for the first time since 2002.

Following a hugely disappointing 2024 that saw them finish 5-12, the New York Jets went through a complete overhaul head coach, general manager and quarterback. New head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey have made it clear that they’re looking to turn things around quickly for the team with the longest playoff drought in North American sports. And that began last week, with the seventh-overall selection of right tackle Armand Membou.

Membou played for Missouri for three years, making the second-team All-SEC in 2024. His potential, though, lies in his physicality. Membou is reportedly a “ridiculous athlete,” with a playing style best described as “nasty.” The Jets, who have had a glaring hole at right tackle, will be hoping he’s a day-one starter.

“The number one thing is we really have guys that fit the brand of who we’re going to be,” said Glenn following the Draft.

And what is that brand?

“Tough, physical, violent, aggressive, a resilient attitude,” he said. “We continue to get guys like that, I mean, you’ll start to see the brand show up on the grass.”

Despite consistently drafting highly offensive linemen, the Jets have underperformed. They were 23rd in pass block win rate last season, and have only finished above 20th once in the past five years. Continuing to invest in the offensive line should give an extra layer of security to newly-acquired quarterback Justin Fields.

“I come from two teams … where everything was about the offensive line,” said Glenn, discussing the Membou pick. “I’m a firm believer that you start it inside out. So if we can build our line, just as much as our defensive line, that only helps you as a team. It helps your quarterback, it helps your running backs, it helps your passing game, and it just creates an identity within your team.”

The Jets were scrambling for much of last year, looking for an Aaron Rodgers miracle that never came. They fired their head coach in the middle of the season and proceeded to continue declining. In short, they looked hopeless lacking an identity.

These new Jets promise to be better. Membou is a hugely promising pick with Pro Bowl potential, and he certainly bolsters Glenn’s brand. But, for the Jets fans who have waited 14 years to see the playoffs again, they’ll have to see it in the regular season to believe it.

One of few positive moments of the 2024 season for New York Jets fans came in October, when star wide receiver Davante Adams revealed his trade to the team by appearing behind quarterback Aaron Rodgers on The Pat McAfee Show.

The move which brought Adams to New York for a conditional third-round pick came following three close losses, bumping the Jets to 2-4. Despite the skid, which would extend for two more games, the Jets’ front office continued to market themselves as “all-in.” That’s where Adams came in.

>READ MORE: HOW DEVANTE ADAMS LANDED WITH THE JETS

At the beginning of the season, Adams had five 1,000-yard seasons, with another two coming in at just three yards under that mark. He was a six-time Pro Bowler and had been named to the First Team All-Pro twice. Most notably, he had achieved most of that success with the Green Bay Packers, catching balls from none other than Rodgers, who went to the Jets a season after Adams landed with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Optimism was high. Adams delivered on his end, by and large, posting a fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season and catching seven touchdowns for the Jets, who direly needed the offensive production. But the team and Rodgers struggled, finishing with a record of 5-12.

Two seasons of cratered expectations were enough. The Jets are moving on from Rodgers, and have officially released Adams after trade negotiations presumably didn’t yield fruit.

The 32-year-old’s contract would have counted for a league-high $38.3 million against the salary cap in 2025. With Adams’ contract off the books, the Jets have an additional $29.877 million in cap space although their attraction for free agents amid the upheaval is slim, to say the least.

In the meantime, the Jets will roll with Garrett Wilson, who seems to be their only viable long-term option at wide receiver (Allen Lazard, another Rodgers favorite, seems likely to be released). Wilson, 24, had another productive campaign in 2024, posting his third 1,000-yard season of his three-year career. Even so, unless he takes a massive step, he can’t carry the Jets offense by himself.

It’s now New York’s responsibility to find a quarterback and secondary receiver(s) or risk another year in the league basement.

The New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers are going their separate ways, with New York bringing in a new staff to find another path forward. Rodgers reportedly still wants to play in the NFL, and his list of suitors seems to be narrowing by the day.

After a lot of supposed discussion about quarterback shuffling, the Los Angeles Rams have emerged as a surprising front runner to sign Rodgers. This seems like a puzzling move for the team on paper, but the rumors have persisted. The Rams have long been reported to be seeking offers for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Shifting gears from Stafford to Rodgers seems counterintuitive, as Stafford led Los Angeles to the playoffs last year while Rodgers wallowed in New York. The Rams seem intent on avoiding a long-term deal for Stafford, however. Instead of seeking a younger talent, Los Angeles could instead be looking for ways to maximize results for the current roster with someone more experienced like Rodgers.

Beyond the Rams, the Steelers and Raiders remain logical contenders to consider Rodgers. Both teams have very uncertain quarterback situations entering the 2025 season. Pittsburgh is stuck between veteran Russell Wilson and struggling upstart Justin Fields. Las Vegas has no clear path whatsoever. That being said, it would be just as logical for either team to pursue Stafford, a marginally younger passer coming off a better season with less baggage off the field. He would also cost more to sign, which could be a determining factor in Rodgers’ favor.

The Colts and Titans also stand out as struggling teams that would assume the risk of signing Rodgers. The Vikings are the most entertaining on the list of teams in quarterback limbo. If Rodgers went to Minnesota, many have pointed out that his career would closely mirror that of Brett Favre, his mentor on the Green Bay Packers at the start of his career.

From a statistical standpoint, Rodgers did not perform as poorly as the Jets’ record last season suggests. They did lose multiple games as a direct result of his inability to deliver in crunch-time. These struggles, combined with his boisterous persona off the field, make him an extremely volatile option for any team in the league, regardless of their current situation.

The Aaron Rodgers era with the New York Jets appears to be coming to an end after two underwhelming seasons. He is unlikely to return to the team in 2025.

Rodgers met with new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey in New Jersey last week. He was told in that meeting that the team had decided to let him go.

Since his hiring, Glenn has been in touch with Rodgers, engaging in ongoing talks about the quarterback’s future. During his introductory press conference, he refrained from making any commitments regarding Rodgers, stating that he wanted to meet with him before deciding on the team’s direction at quarterback.

After the season Rodgers acknowledged the reality that the Jets, with a new regime in place, could look to move on at quarterback.

“Either way, I won’t be upset or offended whatever they decide to do,” he said.

During his two-year tenure with the Jets, Rodgers made 18 starts, secured six wins, and suffered an Achilles tear. His future remains uncertain, as he has stated he has yet to decide on playing a 21st season.

With one year remaining on his deal, he is set to earn a non-guaranteed $37.5 million, carrying a $23.5 million cap hit.

By cutting Rodgers with a post-Jun. 1 designation, the Jets would be left with $49 million in dead money, split over two years. They would need to carry his $23.5 million cap hit until Jun. 1, after which he would count $14 million against the cap in 2025, resulting in a net savings of $9.5 million.

With a post-June 1 designation, a $35 million cap hit would still apply in 2026. This would also be the case if he decides to retire.

The Jets are expected to target a starting-caliber quarterback this offseason, with the possibility of also selecting one in the draft.

The New York Jets named Steve Wilks as their new defensive coordinator Wednesday, replacing Jeff Ulbrich. Wilks was most recently the 49ers’ defensive coordinator in 2023 and has previously served as head coach for the Cardinals and Panthers.

Wilks will join new head coach Aaron Glenn, another defensive-minded staff member, on a Jets team looking to rebuild from a dreadful 2024 season. The team’s offensive coordinator position is still up in the air, though it is almost impossible to imagine Nathaniel Hackett returning without quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Despite never spending more than three years with one team, Wilks has consistently found work in the NFL for the better part of two decades. He was named the Cardinals’ head coach in 2018, earning a 3-13 record before getting fired.

In 2022, he had a far more successful stint as the Panthers’ interim head coach. Replacing Matt Rhule during the season, he guided a poor Carolina team to a 6-6 finish. He was considered for the permanent position, but Carolina passed and he headed to San Francisco.

In his sole season as the 49ers’ defensive coordinator, Wilks successfully maintained a talented San Francisco defense on the way to a Super Bowl appearance. He also reportedly had disagreements with head coach Kyle Shanahan, however.

After the 49ers’ Super Bowl defeat, Shanahan publicly announced that he made the decision to cut Wilks loose. San Francisco missed the playoffs in 2024 and allowed the fourth most points in the NFL.

Glenn and Wilks will inherit a young and talented Jets defense, one of the few functional assets in recent New York seasons. Cornerback Sauce Gardner leads an elite unit that also includes Quinnen Williams, Quincy Williams and Jermaine Johnson. Pieces could come and go in the off-season, but the defense will be the least of the team’s problems in the midst of another quarterback shuffle.

The New York Jets announced Wednesday that they hired Aaron Glenn to be their next head coach. Glenn has been the Detroit Lions’ defensive coordinator since 2021, working with Dan Campbell to turn the long-struggling team into a Super Bowl contender.

Glenn’s first staff assignment in the NFL was with the Jets as a personnel scout in 2012. He went on to coach defensive backs for the Browns and Saints before accepting the job in Detroit. He has been on New York’s radar for some time, and his strong connection to the team may have had something to do with his decision to decline an interview with the Patriots earlier this month.

With Glenn headed to the Jets and former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson accepting the head coaching job for the Chicago Bears, Campbell and the Lions will have to restructure its staff on both sides of the ball ahead of next season.

Detroit, coming off a loss to the Commanders in the NFC Divisional Round, still has plenty of weapons on offense and defensive standouts returning from injury. But building back up without both coordinators will be a tall task in 2025.

As for the Jets, who are turning to yet another defensive-minded head coach, the way forward is only slightly clearer now. New York is still without a general manager, and key players like Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams have not given any clear direction in terms of a return yet. If Rodgers leaves, the goal will be to form a new front office and find a quarterback to lead the team’s young talent on offense. But Glenn, like Robert Saleh before him, can only do so much beyond staff decisions and defensive schemes.

There are countless directions New York can go in for a 2025 quarterback. Expectations are so low after last season that there’s virtually no pressure to speak of. Justin Fields, Russell Wilson and Sam Darnold are all in play. The Jets can trade up for a draft pick if they see Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward as a sure thing. If they really want, they can wait until next year and ride things out with Tyrod Taylor

The point is that there isn’t a single option available to them that won’t require time to pay off. This should be to Glenn’s advantage, as he should have at least two seasons in a typically hostile media environment to build something new. That has proven difficult for past coaches going back decades, and owner Woody Johnson is cemented as a common denominator in those struggles. But Glenn has the background to be effective in seemingly dreary situations, giving him some sort of chance to succeed in this Sisyphean task.

After a horrendous season with the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers seems to be coming to terms with a potential end. Not only could a Week 18 game against the Dolphins mark the end of his tenure in New York, but it could also be the final game of his NFL career.

“I’m just more resigned to the reality of the situation,” Rodgers told reporters Wednesday. “I think there’s gonna be change here, and if I’m a part of the change, then I just want to make sure everybody knows that I have nothing but gratitude for my time here…. If I wanna play and they don’t want me here, then I’ll see if there’s other options.”

Rodgers went on to call his time with the Jets “the best two years” of his life, an unexpected comment from the four-time MVP and Super Bowl winner. His tenure with the Jets has been marred by injury and countless frustrating losses, which seems to suggest that the comment is either facetious or related to events off the field.

When the former Packers quarterback first arrived in East Rutherford, he brought the idea that the Jets could secure a quarterback talent by importing one. The team has tried this before, most notably with Brett Favre in 2008,  but the idea felt sound this time. With one of the most talented young cores in the league, it felt like the Jets were a quarterback away.

The 2023 season was a devastating blow, one in which the promise of Rodgers went up in smoke on the first drive of the season. But losing him immediately preserved his potential; 2024 was supposed to be the year the pieces came together. Sure enough, Rodgers played a full season, and on paper, put up passable statistics for an NFL quarterback. The reality was worse than losing him to injury, however.

In a season in which the Jets went 4-12, a systematic failure by every measure, they lost nine games by 10 points or less. Nearly every time, Rodgers had opportunities late in those games to make a difference, the ultimate marker of a great quarterback. Delivering in those moments could have meant a playoff run. Instead, he performed so poorly that the team is in line for a top-10 draft pick. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise.

The team did everything it could. Owner Woody Johnson fired head coach Robert Saleh and then Joe Douglas. The organization brought in an army of former Packers talent, up to and including star wide receiver Davante Adams. He replaced Mike Williams, who was traded after Rodgers spoke badly of him to the media. At the end of the day, none of it mattered. It all came down to Rodgers, and he failed.

Now, star wide receiver Garrett Wilson is appearing in trade rumors. Running back Breece Hall is considered a wasted talent instead of a surefire Pro-Bowler. Lockdown cornerback Sauce Gardner is talking trash about his own team on Instagram. The Jets have come crashing back down to their longtime reputation as one of the most dysfunctional franchises in sports. The only difference now is that there’s a common denominator. At least it was a good two years for him.

A week after firing their head coach and a day after blowing a 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, the New York Jets traded for Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams in exchange for a conditional third-round pick that can turn into a second based on how Adams performs in New York. The Jets are currently re-working the 31-year-old’s contract, but the Raiders did not take back any money, a surprise given the length of Adams’ deal.

Two weeks ago, Adams officially requested a trade from Las Vegas in the third season of a five-year contract. He initially headed west to play with his college quarterback Derek Carr, but he left Vegas two years ago, and Adams has been on no man’s list ever since. The Jets were rumored to be the leading player in a trade, given the history in Green Bay between Aaron Rodgers and Adams. With the Jets sitting at 2-4 and quickly fading out of the playoff picture, they called their shot. On Tuesday, Adams dove into his feelings about the move.

“It’s been a roller coaster, for sure,” he said. “It’s a weird thing to say that I’m happy, but, obviously, it was time for a change This whole thing kind of transpired a little weird, but at the end of the day, we’re in a better place. I think that the Raiders are in a better place as well, and everybody can kind of move on.”

New York takes on the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road on Sunday Night Football this week, and Adams expects to make his Jets debut, even after missing the last couple of weeks with a hamstring injury. Both teams need this win as they are expected to be in contention for a Wild Card spot at the end of the season. Currently, ESPN Bet says the Jets are two-point favorites away from home.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a low-ankle sprain in his team’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday. He went down awkwardly on a third down play and walked toward the medical tent before the Jets recorded a special teams turnover, and he U-turned back to the field.

He told the media about his injury after the game, and interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich confirmed it on Wednesday. He said Rodgers would be held back in practice but should be good to go for Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

“Same ankle, a little bit of the hamstring. Limited in practice, but no thoughts of any time he’ll miss Monday night.”

Rodgers also commented on his status yesterday: “A little banged up, but a lot of rehab the last three days, and I feel a lot better.”

The Jets are still reeling after the firing of head coach Robert Saleh last week.

The Jets need all the help they can get on the offensive side of the ball, and an injury to their starting quarterback puts salt in the wound. Ulbrich recently stripped offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett of play-calling duties and handed them over to Todd Downing to try to give the offense a spark. Hackett was Rodgers’ OC in Green Bay, but the Denver Broncos fired him in the middle of his first season a couple of years ago, and he never bounced back to form.

Of course, it does not help a 40-year-old QB when the running game stagnates, and the offensive line cannot hold up in pass protection. Breece Hall, who many believe ranks as a top-five running back in the NFL, rushed for an abysmal 27 yards in two weeks against the Vikings and the Denver Broncos the week before. Meanwhile, the Jets needed to play a rookie right tackle due to injuries, compounding issues to an offensive line that needs time to gel.

The New York Jets have fired head coach Robert Saleh after a 2-3 start to the 2024 season and a 20-36 overall record in his tenure. The decision came after the Jets fell 23-17 in London against the Minnesota Vikings.

New York takes on the Buffalo Bills on Monday night football, and if they win, they have a chance to lead the division.

According to reports, New York owner Woody Johnson made the move on his own and did not consult with other front office members. Sources say that Saleh came into work like a typical day; Johnson walked into his office and delivered the news. The former head coach did not receive an opportunity to tell the team, and security escorted him out of the building. Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will take over as interim head coach.

Here is part of the press release Johnson wrote after the decision.

“This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations, and I believe now is the best time for us to move in a different direction.”

Johnson was former President Donald Trump‘s ambassador to the United Kingdom, and some in the media believe that the Jets’ embarrassing loss in Britain contributed to the swift decision.

Saleh is the first coach to be fired after five games of a season since the Carolina Panthers fired Matt Rhule in 2022. This is also the first time in Johnson’s tenure as owner that he has parted ways with a coach in the middle of the season.

Reports swirled that quarterback Aaron Rodgers helped push Saleh out, but on the Pat McAfee show, he called them “categorically false.” What is true, however, is that the Jets’ sputtering offense led to Saleh’s dismissal. The Jets have scored over 20 points just once this season against the lowly New England Patriots, and some in the NFL media thought that Saleh would fire offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who had coached Rodgers during his time with the Green Bay Packers.

The New York Jets reverted to the mean in Sunday’s disappointing loss to the Denver Broncos, whose quarterback only threw for 60 yards. The offense did not score a touchdown for just the fifth time in quarterback Aaron Rodgers‘ career, and the noise inside and outside the locker room grows noisier by the day.

Former offensive rookie of the year wide receiver Garrett Wilson gave his opinion on the play-calling this week, stating, “I don’t think we do a lot of different stuff, to be honest,” Wilson said of the team’s offense. “When I watch football on Sundays, I see a lot of teams who mix it up and stuff like that. I don’t feel like we do that. I think we know our identity. It’s just about going out and executing it or figuring out if it’s going to work.”

However, Rodgers took some blame after the loss, saying, “The weather sucked, but so did some of my throws.”

The 40-year-old quarterback does not seem fully healthy. He seemed to pick up a knock on Sunday, as he only did individual drills during Jets practice on Wednesday. Long-time NFL veteran Tyrod Taylor is the Jets backup QB.

However, Rodgers knows that health does not excuse the offense’s terrible performance against Denver. The Jets only put up 248 yards of total offense on 70 snaps, good for 3.5 yards per play. They only recorded 16 first downs and turned the ball over, leading to an inefficient afternoon. Coming into the game, Gang Green was an 8.5 favorite, according to ESPN Bet, as they looked like playoff contenders in their blowout win against the New England Patriots the week before.

New York’s schedule does not get any easier as they cross the pond for a contest in England against the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. Currently, the Vikings are listed as 2.5-point favorites.

New England Patriots team captain Ja’Whaun Bentley will miss the rest of the season with a torn pectoral after sustaining the injury in the first quarter in the loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The linebacker is considered the quarterback of the new-look Patriots defense, calling out the plays to the other ten players on the field and being the cog between the defensive line and secondary.

Bentley has spent all five seasons in New England, registering over 100 tackles in his last three years as he replaced Dont’a Hightower. During his Tuesday press conference, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo stated safety Kyle Dugger called the plays after Bentley left the game.

“Communication was good, and it was Dugger. Remember, Dugger did it all last year as well, so it was not anything new for him. I’ve always been a huge believer in a linebacker having the green dot, but I’ll tell you, the way Dugger played yesterday as a whole and being able to handle the communication, he definitely filled in for that role.”

In place of Bentley should be Jahlani Tavai and Raekwon McMillan. Tavai started the first two games alongside Bentley in his fourth season with the Patriots. Tavai began his career in Detroit and has played in 13 or more games since heading east to Foxborough.

McMillan is in his second stint with the Patriots and will gain the most snap share with Bentley going down. He spent his 2023 season with the Las Vegas Raiders and began his career with the Miami Dolphins.

New England hopes their new coach, former Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo, can coach up the backups to Bentley. Mayo won the first game of his career in an upset victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, 16-10, before dropping the home opener to the Seattle Seahawks in overtime.

A noisy off-season for the New York Jets led to a Monday night meltdown yesterday as the San Francisco 49ers pummeled gang-green 32-19 during the final game of week one.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers returned to the Jets after tearing his Achilles on Monday night football last season, and he looked like a 40-year-old quarterback coming off of major surgery. The 2011 Super Bowl champion threw for only 167 yards, averaging just eight yards a pass as the 49ers’ pass rush gave him no time and their secondary locked down a mediocre receiving corp. It did not help the offense either that they committed two turnovers, a Rodgers interception, and a Breece Hall fumble that led to San Francisco points and just 21 minutes of possession. After the game, Rodgers did not want to hit the panic button on a season with playoff aspirations.

“This is a tough opener for us, travel-wise and schedule-wise, but no excuses. We have to play better and I have to play better and we’ll bounce back,” he said.

“They are a championship-level group – and I hope we see them then.”

If the Jets want to even consider a championship, they must fix both sides of the ball. 49ers head coach and play-caller Kyle Shannahan unzipped a supposedly solid Jets defense that gave up points on eight straight possessions after their opening drive. This forced Jets head coach Robert Salah to take out Rodgers with four minutes left in the fourth quarter because the game reached garbage time. The key to the 49er’s success on offense came from their running game, which accumulated 180 yards on the ground for 4.7 yards a carry. Their physical style of play wore out a Jets defense not conditioned for a 60-minute dogfight in the first week of the season and led to the lopsided scoreline.

Next, NYJ stays on the road as they head to Nashville to take on the 0-1 Tennessee Titans.
