Tom Brady is launching a clothing line and has signed name, image and likeness deals with college athletes. As of last July, collegiate athletes can profit off endorsements when teaming up with companies and services.

The training wear and casual clothing line, BRADY, will feature ten young athletes.

Those featured will include two athletes from Brady’s alma mater, Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara and tennis player Andrew Fenty. Shadeur Sanders, Jackson State quarterback and son of NFL great Deion Sanders, Villanova basketball player Jermaine Samuels Jr., Maryland forward Julian Reese, Georgia receiver George Pickens, Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall, one of this year’s Pittsburgh Pirates draft choices Henry Davis, Boston College hockey player Jack St. Ivany, and UCLA tennis player Patrick Zahraj complete the athletes Brady has chosen to be the face of his brand.

“I’m proud to partner with this lineup of NCAA and newly drafted athletes for the first BRADY campaign,” Brady wrote on Instagram. “These hardworking and driven players embody the spirit and ethos in which this brand was founded. From my fellow Michigan Men in Cade McNamara and Andrew Fenty to Shedeur Sanders, Jermaine Samuels, and more, I’m excited for the world to first see BRADY on the next generation of superstars.”

Brady continues to focus on endeavors that will last after his career is over.

“I feel like I’m living two lives,” Brady told the Wall Street Journal. “My football life and then my post-football life.”

BRADY will launch on January 12, 2022, and the line will be found at Nordstrom.

The NCAA is known as perhaps the worst and most corrupt governing body in all of American sports. With their treatment of collegiate athletes and their refusal to compensate them at all, amongst other horrible things, they truly are dishonorable. The blatant lie told about their treatment of states who ban transgender athletes is another transgression in a long list. Just a month ago, the NCAA did the right thing and said it would pull championship events from states that pass laws banning transgender women from participating in female sports. Their actions on Sunday however, completely went against this and they granted regional sites in three of those states.

For the softball tournament field, games will be played in notoriously anti transgender states Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee. These three states have all passed anti-transgender sports laws for women’s sports. A mere month ago, the NCAA was talking completely differently, and their board of governors said it would be difficult to hold championship events, including regional tournaments, in states that have such anti-transgender sports laws. “The NCAA has a long-standing policy that provides a more inclusive path for transgender participation in college sports,” the NCAA said in a statement. “Our approach — which requires testosterone suppression treatment for transgender women to compete in women’s sports—embraces the evolving science on this issue and is anchored in participation policies of both the International Olympic Committee and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. When determining where championships are held, NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy and free of discrimination should be selected,” the board stated. “We will continue to closely monitor these situations to determine whether NCAA championships can be conducted in ways that are welcoming and respectful of all participants.”

Several states in the south have introduced legislation that would ban transgender girls from competing in high school sports, and Republican governors in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and West Virginia have already signed such bills into law. Three of these states listed above (Arkansas, Mississippi and West Virginia) have extended that ban to collegiate sports.

Ed O'Bannon Files Lawsuit Against EA Sports

Sports video game giant EA Sports settled a lawsuit with 24,819 college athletes who were collectively awarded $60 million on Tuesday. Each individual athlete will receive about $1,600 under the settlement, after lawyers take their 30 percent cut, according to ESPN.com.

EA Sports And Ed O’Bannon Reach $60M Settlement

Thanks to the settlement, college athletes who appeared in EA Sports video games in 2013 and 2014 will now be financially compensated. The awards will be issued on a weighted scale, which means that if a player appeared in an earlier version of the game, they will receive less money than a player who appeared later in the franchise. The reason for this is that there was more specificity in the likenesses of players during the later versions of the games.

The lawsuit was led by former UCLA basketball player Ed O’Bannon, former Rutgers quarterback Ryan Hart and former Nebraska and Arizona State quarterback Sam Keller, each of whom will receive an estimated $15,000. Twenty-one other players, including former Alabama wide receiver Tyrone Prothro, will receive $5,00 for being class action representatives, according to an ESPN report.

O’Bannon was the one who brought the original suit against EA Sports claiming that collegiate athletes should get paid for use of their names, images and likenesses. The lawsuit also forced EA Sports to discontinue its NCAA video game franchises, the last one being “NCAA Football ’14,” which went on sale in July 2013.
