Luis Castillo has been traded days ahead of the deadline and Yankees fans aren’t too happy about it. 

The Seattle Mariners pulled the trigger on a deal that is sending two MLB-ranked top 100 prospects Edwin Arroyo (93) and Noelvi Marte (18) to the Cincinnati Reds.

Additionally, the Reds are getting pitching prospects Levi Stoudt and Andrew Moore.

While the Mariners certainly paid a price to obtain Castillo, he isn’t scheduled to become a free agent until 2024.

So, the team will have another year plus before deciding whether it wants to keep him around long-term or not.

The 29-year-old is making $7.35 million this year and is commanding a 2.86 ERA this year with 90 strikeouts in 14 games.

And you can see why fans of other teams aren’t too happy that their front offices couldn’t make a trade for the Red’s ace.

New York Yankees fans in particular were furious about it.

“Yankees not getting Luis Castillo is such a disgrace,” said one fan.

“They have the capital to get him and beat any offer. Best chance at a World Series since 2009 don’t let this season go to waste, [GM Brian] Cashman.” 

Another weighed in and stated: “I don’t care if this is an overreaction. “You are the New York f**cking Yankees, you clearly are a player or two from cementing yourself as the best team in baseball.”

And one fan took his frustrations out on the Yankee’s general manager: “Good morning coffee is ready, today’s a great day to make a trade or fire Brian Cashman.”

Instead, Castillo will join a Mariners club that is 54-47 and look to bolster a starting rotation that headlines reigning American League Cy Young winner Robbie Ray. 

Next up all eyes will be on superstars Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani and see if they will be traded in the coming days. 

The MLB trade deadline is Tuesday, August 2. 

New York Yankees fans are urging general manager Brian Cashman to make some serious moves.

It comes after the team is just won four games out of its last 10 including getting swept by the Houston Astros over a two-game series. 

While the Yankees are 65-31 on the year with a comfortable 12-game lead in its division, fans aren’t satisfied. 

The most recent move Cashman made was acquiring bench bat Tyler Wade from the Los Angeles Angels for a player to be named later or cash. 

But that won’t be enough as fans want Cashman to make a big move – particularly for Washington Nationals star Juan Soto and/or pitcher Luis Castillo from the Cincinnati Reds. 

One fan tweeted: “If there’s a way that Brian Cashman can miraculously pull off Luis Castillo/Juan Soto trades come trade deadline…..DO IT!!!!!” 

Another said: Brian Cashman needs to be fired if Oswald Peraza is not either in another organization or on the Yankees MLB roster by August 3.

Others want struggling first baseman and outfielder Joey Gallo gone.

“Brian Cashman needs to trade Joey Gallo tonight. I don’t even care if you run out a 25 man roster tomorrow this guy needs to be gone ASAP,” a fan said.

According to the New York Post, the Yankees are one of the teams that are unwilling to trade top three prospects in a deal for Soto. 

But Cashman said that he is continuing to have conversations with teams about bolstering the roster as the Yankees will hope for a deep playoff run. 

“I was on the phone all day yesterday,” Cashman said. 

“I’ve been on the phone all day today. I think that’s representative of all the GMs in the game right now.”

The MLB trade deadline will take place on August 2. 

Luis Castillo and Octavio Dotel, two former Major League Baseball players, are linked to an alleged Dominican drug kingpin, it was reported Tuesday.

According to several news outlets, Dominican Republic Attorney General Jean Alain Rodriguez said Tuesday that the large drug trafficking operation in question was aimed at alleged drug lord César Emilio Peralta, who goes by the nickname “César the abuser.”

Castillo, 43, formerly played as an infielder for the New York Mets and then-Florida Marlins, while 45-year-old Dotel was a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals, among many other teams. Castillo is not to be confused with the current Cincinnati Reds player of the same name. Both players are Dominican.

NPR reported that Rodriguez called Peralta’s criminal network “the most important drug trafficking structure in the region.” Peralta is also being investigated for alleged money laundering.

Dotel is one of several suspects who has been arrested and is one of the 18 individuals tied to the alleged drug lord. The exact nature of Dotel and Castillo’s involvement in the operation remains unknown.

The Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI both exchanged information with Rodriguez’s team as part of the investigation into the alleged drug bust.

The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Peralta and his team on Tuesday, calling them “significant narcotics traffickers.” The department claimed cocaine and opioids were among the drugs that were trafficked and also accused Peralta and his organization of laundering money and trafficking women.

On Tuesday, Castillo posted on Instagram a screenshot of a press conference Rodriguez gave with a headline in Spanish that implicated the former infielder and Dotel in the drug trafficking operation.

“Only God knows the truth,” Castillo captioned the photo in Spanish. “And Jesus died for the truth, Amen.”
