Honesty is the best policy. Lydia Ko has just demonstrated that.

Golf’s world No. 3 is being praised for her blunt response which left her interviewer speechless.

During Sunday at the Palos Verdes Championship, Ko was seen receiving treatment from her physical therapist for what looked like a tight back. After finishing tied for third, the New Zealander was asked about the treatment.

“It’s that time of the month,” she said. “I know the ladies watching are probably like: ‘Yeah, I got you.’ So, when that happens, my back gets really tight, and I’m all twisted. It’s not the first time that [physical therapist] Chris [Wicker] has seen me twisted, but it felt a lot better after he came. So, yeah, there you go.”

The reporter eventually managed to reply with, “Thanks.”

“I know you’re at a loss for words, [Golf Channel reporter] Jerry [Foltz, who asked the question]. Honesty it is,” she followed up.

Did it really leave the reporter speechless?

Others appreciated her honesty, too:

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - DECEMBER 15: Playing Captain Tiger Woods and the United States team celebrate with the cup after they defeated the International team 16-14 during Sunday Singles matches on day four of the 2019 Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne Golf Course on December 15, 2019 in Melbourne, Australia.

Those who love golf know that Tiger Woods would always wear his trademark red and black gear on the final days of tournaments. But, since Woods couldn’t participate at the WGC-Workday Championship in Bradenton, Florida, others followed Tiger’s tradition.

Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas and Jason Day, along with other golfers, were seen wearing red and black in honor of Woods. Woods was not participating because he was involved in a car crash in Los Angeles earlier this week.

Many of the players, along with the PGA Tour’s official Twitter account, posted about the golfers that were showing their support for Tiger by wearing his signature outfit.

Woods noticed the gesture and conveyed his appreciation to the other golfers on Twitter in his first personal statement since his accident.

“It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts. To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time,” Woods said.

On Sunday, at the Gainbridge LBPA event led by Annika Sorenstam in Orlando, FL, many female golfers also sported Woods’ black pants and red shirt combination to show their support, per the LPGA official Twitter account.

In the accident, Woods suffered multiple fractures to his leg and a shattered ankle. However, the 45-year old is still in “good spirits.”

Brittany Lang Wins US Women's Open After Penalty on Anna Nordqvist

The USGA announced Friday that the U.S. Women’s Open would be postponed until December amid the spread of COVID-19. The event was originally supposed to be held from June 4-7 at the Champions Golf Club in Houston, but will now be played December 10-13.

This is the latest a major golf championship will take place since 2010 and the first time in history an entire event will be held in December.

“The USGA remains committed to hosting the U.S. Women’s Open in 2020,” USGA CEO Mike Davis said in a statement. “We are grateful to the LPGA and our broadcast partner FOX for their terrific collaboration in finding a new date for the championship. Our priority remains ensuring the safety of all involved with the U.S. Women’s Open, while still providing the world’s best players the opportunity to compete this year.”

Because of the lesser amount of sunlight in December compared to the summer months, the event will be played on two golf courses for rounds one and two, the Jackrabbit and Cypress Creek courses. The USGA also said qualifying events will be rescheduled and one event has been canceled.

“We are so thankful to all our partners for their flexibility and willingness to work with us during this very difficult time,” LPGA commissioner Mike Whan said in a statement. “This has been a truly collective effort to reschedule tournament dates and work together to provide LPGA players with as many playing opportunities as possible once it is safe for us to resume competing again.”

By the end of the weekend, and the completion of the ShopRite LPGA Classic in New Jersey, there will be a new number one woman golfer.

The current number one, Lydia Ko, will lose her spot at the top on Sunday, ending her 84-week reign, according to the LPGA. Ko is not participating in this weekend’s tournament.

Only one of the two contenders to take the number one spot is playing at the tournament. Ryu So-yeon, who currently ranks third, is competing in New Jersey, while Ariya Jutanugarn, who currently ranks second, is not.

Nonetheless, because of her number two ranking, Jutanugarn is the favorite to become to new top dog.

The only way So-yeon jumps from three to one is if she finishes first, second, ties for second with up to three others, or comes in outright third. Otherwise, Jutanugarn moves to first.

Regardless of who takes the spot, the golfer will become only the tenth person to hold the number one spot since the rankings began in 2006. Past leaders include Annika SorenstamLorena OchoaShin Ji-yaiAi MiyazatoCristie KerrYani TsengStacy LewisPark In-bee, and Ko.

Ko currently has the third most weeks at number one in the history of the rankings at 103. Ochoa hold the all-time record at 158 total weeks.
