Paul Daley criticized Rory MacDonald after scoring a vicious knockout in his last Bellator match, and now he will get the bout he was seeking.

Bellator officially announced Thursday that Daley, also known as “Semtex,” and MacDonald, who is nicknamed “Ares” and “Red King” will fight each other in the main event at Bellator 179, which is set for May 19 at London’s SSE Arena.

Daley (39-14-2) headlined Bellator’s previous event in London, when he lost by unanimous decision to current champion Douglas Lima. Six months following that defeat, the British welterweight– who will be 34 later this month– returned to action and beat Brennan Ward with a flying knee.

Canadian MacDonald (18-4), meanwhile, is set to make his Bellator debut after a 9-4 run under the UFC banner, which included victories over fighters like Nate Diaz, B.J. Penn, Demian Maia and current UFC champion Tyron Woodley. MacDonald left the UFC after consecutive losses to Robbie Lawler and Stephen Thompson.

The 27-year-old Canadian was not present at the press conference in Knightsbridge on Thursday when the headliner was announced. Instead, there was a British welterweight rival of Daley’s who has an ongoing spat with Daley.

The fighter, a rising, undefeated British sensation named Michael “Venom” Page and known to Bellator fans as “MVP,” voiced his “deep disappointment” on Thursday that he would not be fighting Daley.

Page has claimed several times that he has been “disrespected” by Daley, who has fought his way back to glory after being banned by UFC president Dana White seven years ago for sucker-punching his opponent Josh Koscheck following a frustrating night in Seattle.

The 30-year-old Page, who comes from a family of martial artists, primarily freestyle kickboxing, insisted Daley apologize after alleging the 33-year-old compared himself to Floyd Mayweather and Page to Adrien Broner: “I’m the undefeated one, he’s made this personal. I struggle to call people out because I just don’t care enough, but because of this episode, it means that when our names do cross again it’s going to be explosive.”

Odell Beckham Jr. has captivated the NFL world in his first two professional seasons with one impressive catch after another.

This time, however, the New York Giants wide receiver added a twist to his catch attempt.

As part of an NFL promotional trip to London on Tuesday, Beckham teamed up with Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela to attempt a “45-yard drop kick one-handed catch,” in an effort to re-create a spectacular snag the 23-year-old receiver made during his rookie season with the Giants, in a game against the Dallas Cowboys on November 23, 2014. Beckham beat Dallas cornerback Brandon Carr to complete a jaw-dropping, one-handed reception that ended with him falling backwards into the end-zone to score a touchdown after a pass from Eli Manning. Extensive replay later showed Beckham actually caught the ball with three fingers.

The Cowboys won that game, but the young wideout’s catch ended up making headlines. He also made another diving, one-handed touchdown catch against the Washington Redskins last season.

On Tuesday, Lamela played the role of quarterback for Beckham, feeding him long lob passes by dropping the ball for a short bounce and then kicking it to the receiver.

Beckham and the 24-year-old Argentina international soaked up the London sun and also took photos and exchanged jerseys. Lamela posed with a Giants jersey, while Beckham got his hands on a Tottenham Spurs home kit.

Beckham– the 12th overall pick out of LSU in 2014, also displayed his skills on the soccer field.

“It’s just never going to be the same,” Beckham told Sky Sports News. “Made a play like that early in my career and that night from then on, everything was just different. It was like being your birthday on steroids. Everybody’s texting you through the roof.”

The Giants are due to play the Los Angeles Rams at Twickenham on October 23, and the receiver’s visit was part of the English club’s partnership with the NFL.

The Spurs agreed to a 10-year deal with the NFL to host at least two games each season in their new 61,000-seat stadium, which is due to open for the 2018-2019 season.

Beckham also stated that he believes the best cornerback in the NFL is the Arizona Cardinals’ Patrick Peterson.

“I think the best cornerback in the league, I haven’t got the experience of playing against — Patrick Peterson,” Beckham said Tuesday in London.

“(Peterson is) by far one of the best in the game, hands down,” Beckham continued. “He’s going to follow you from your house, to his house, to the sidelines, to the cricket field.”
