NASCAR penalized Kevin Harvick’s Stewart-Haas Racing’s No. 4 team on Wednesday for two violations relating to a rear-window malfunction on Harvick’s Las Vegas-winning car on Sunday.

NASCAR rules dictate that the rear window support braces must keep the rear window glass rigid in all directions at all times. The right side rocker panel extension did not meet NASCAR rule specifications, as it was not an aluminum extension.

The team has three days to decide whether or not to appeal the penalty.

Harvick’s victory at the Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was his second consecutive win this season.

NASCAR crew chiefs ejections las vegas news

Both teams failed pre-race inspection three times before the start of the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube. Jimmie Johnson (driver of the No. 48) and Ross Chastain (No. 15) started at the back of the 37-car field.

Per the new deterrence guidelines in the 2018 NASCAR Rule Book, a crew member of NASCAR’s choosing is removed following a third inspection failure. Competition officials ejected car chief Jesse Saunders from the No. 48 team roster and Lee Leslie from the No. 15 team’s at-track list.

Johnson has won four times at the 1.5-mile track in Las Vegas. He entered the Pennzoil 400 ranked 35th after crashes in the first two races of the season at Daytona and Atlanta.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Tickets

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race will be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 5pm. The event will feature some of the top drivers in the series race for the checkered flag as part of the NASCAR Camping World playoffs.

Standard adult tickets begin at $39, and General Admission tickets are priced at $24. Ticket prices will increase beginning the week of the event.

There is an overall ten-ticket limit for this event.

Children 12 and under are admitted FREE with a ticketed adult (max of two kids tickets per adult). Children require a physical ticket for entry; stop by the LVMS box office to pick them up.
