Pre-game videos surfaced before Monday Night Football between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills this weekend of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman standing near each other but not speaking while on the field.

This supported reports that Buck and Aikman argued in the booth over contract negotiations.

Buck recently agreed to a $108 million, six-year extension with ESPN, and Aikman has not received any offers.

With Aikman’s contract ending at the end of this year, his future next to Buck in the booth is in question, according to the report.

Buck reportedly mentioned the situation first after an awkward moment in the room, which led to the dispute.

The two worked together at Fox when Aikman was offered a move to ESPN before Buck, who followed shortly after the end of his Fox contract. They’ve worked together for 25 years, which is the longest-tenured crew in NFL history.

Aikman was asked on the radio about it and said: “There’s probably a time and a place for that… this probably isn’t that time.” He later added that he will play out the rest of the season, then be a “free agent” and “see what happens.” His comments suggest he isn’t expecting much at this point if it hasn’t already come.

This story gets really interesting with Tony Romo‘s recent termination after a DWI incident. CBS needs a new number one color commentator next to Jim Nantz. Currently, J.J. Watt has filled the role and could still be the choice next year after good reviews since taking over. However, Aikman is much more experienced and could push Watt out if CBS chose a bigger name, as Fox did when it moved Greg Olsen down after signing Tom Brady.

If Aikman leaves his role with ESPN, he would likely find another job easily. The dispute between the two suggests Aikman would likely want to keep working with Buck and ESPN if a contract allowed it and to extend their 25-year partnership.

Hall of Fame quarterback and Fox Sports broadcaster Troy Aikman has been contemplating his next move; he has offers to return to Fox, to move to Amazon Prime – or possibly a combination of the two.

“Those conversations are happening now,” Aikman said. “And I’m really being as honest as I can be about it. I really don’t know what it’s gonna look like when it’s all said and done and it does get settled. As to whether I’ll be working for Fox and Amazon, whether I’ll just be working for Fox or whether I’ll just be working for Amazon. I really don’t know what might happen.”

This Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers could be Aikman’s last go-round at Fox.

“It could be, yeah,” he said. “I don’t anticipate that, but it could be.”

The former signal-caller has been a stalwart on Fox Sundays since his playing days ended in 2000.

Amazon Prime is set to solely broadcast 15 Thursday night games in 2022—a deal that will continue through the 2032 season.

“I try not to,” said Joe Buck, Aikman’s longtime broadcast partner, when asked about his thoughts on a potential move, “because it’s been 20 years and I can honestly say, I have never had one moment where we have felt like, at least I haven’t, and we talk about it all the time, we’re just lucky we’re good friends.

“We talk about what’s out there and we talk about what he’s deciding between and everything else. I only ask questions and talk about it to a point because that’s his life. That’s his career. He knows how I feel. I don’t want him going anywhere and that’s understood. But at the end of the day, he’s gonna do what he wants to do.”

We’re definitely going to see and hear Aikman on Sundays in the future, it’s just a matter of what channel/platform it will be on.

Aikman and Buck criticized the money and jet fuel that the flyover likely cost the taxpayers with their back and forth ending with Aikman saying, “That stuff ain’t happening with Kamala-Biden ticket I’ll tell you that.”

It is estimated that the flyover would have cost American taxpayers over $100,000.

Longtime broadcaster and current FOX Sports NFL and MLB announcer Joe Buck seems to be in the final years of his career.

Fox Sports Broadcaster Joe Buck Hints At Retirement After 2019 World Series

Speaking to Tim McKernan of The Morning After Podcast last week, Buck revealed his contract will expire after the 2019 World Series. He then plans to spend more time with his family.

“I love it, but I’ve been doing it for a long time and I feel like somebody else should do it. I’ve done enough,” said Buck, who’ll turn 48 in April. “I’m signed for three more World Series, and that’ll be 22, which is stupid to even think about. If somebody said right now, before I walk outta here, you’re done, I’ve had the greatest career, miles beyond anything I could have ever dreamed.

“But I would like to get some of my time back and be at home, be in St. Louis, be with my wife and watch my kids, even though they’re 20 and 17, and doing their own thing. I’ve been gone a lot this year, and I’m not crying about it. I love it. But I need to take stuff out.”

Under the tutelage of his father, legendary sportscaster Jack Buck, Joe became the youngest (25) broadcaster to announce an NFL game in 1994.

While working on local television and KMOX Radio, he called his first Cardinals’ game in 1991.

Except for the 1997 and 1999 editions of the World Series, which were broadcast by NBC, Buck has been in the booth for every Fall Classic since 1996.

His career will surely go down as one of the most memorable in all of sports history.

Fans Launch Petition To Replace Joe Buck With Bob Uecker For World Series Broadcasts

Given this historic milestone, Cubs fans are calling for a very special guest broadcaster during the World Series.

A petition created by Tab Bamford on Change.org– and that has more than 5,000 signatures– calls for Joe Buck to be replaced by Bob Uecker for the broadcasts.

The petition states: “Bob Uecker is Bob Uecker – a national treasure. And his portrayal of an Indians broadcaster in the movie “Major League” is all-time great.
Replacing Joe Buck with Uecker would put one of the truly great entertainers in the game on its biggest stage.”

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel issued a statement Saturday night celebrating the pennant win. He says: “The fun continues in Cleveland on Tuesday night.”

Several celebrities whoa are Cubs fans also posted messages and photos on social media.

Comedian and actor Bob Newhart posted a photo of himself, his grandchildren and the “W” flag they made for him.

Actor John Cusack posted two words last night along with a photo of the team celebrating at Wrigley Field. As he put it: “It’s. Done.”

New Girl actor and Evanston native Jake Johnson tweeted, “They did it!!!!! #FlyTheW @Cubs.”

Even Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s reaction was shared. Clinton’s press secretary Nick Merrill tweeted a photo of Clinton looking at her phone totally shocked when she learned the Cubs were headed to the World Series.

“That look when you cap off a day on the trail by watching the @Cubs cement their trip to the #WorldSeries. #FlyTheW.”
