Dallas police have reportedly completed their investigation into the June 5 shooting of Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib, and concluded Talib shot himself in the leg, according to WFAA television.

Dallas police will not file charges against Talib, WFAA-TV reported.

The Broncos said Tuesday that they would have no comment on the report.

When reached by ESPN and the Denver Post, a media relations representative with the Dallas Police Department would not confirm the WFAA report.

Talib suffered only a minor leg injury and has started all four games for the Broncos this season.

After shooting himself in the early hours of June 5 in Dallas, Talib avoided surgery and was released from the hospital the following day. The incident forced him to miss the Broncos’ visit to the White House to commemorate their Super Bowl 50 victory.

According to the police report, Talib said he didn’t know who shot him and that the bullet “entered into the rear of his right thigh then exited his right calf.”

A previous police report stated that a witness claimed he had been with Talib in a large group of people in a park when he heard one gunshot. The witness said he then discovered Talib on the ground and took him to the hospital.

The narrative listed on the report said Talib had been shot “by an unknown suspect.” That initial report indicated that one gram of marijuana was found during the investigation. The report did not state whether the drug belonged to Talib.

Talib had also been at a strip club earlier that night where two men were shot, but people familiar with the investigation say police could not confirm he was at the club during that shooting.

The NFL continues to investigate. Several league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter in recent days that the league had not yet reached a decision regarding whether Talib would face a suspension.

Internally, the Broncos have at least discussed what they might do if Talib were suspended for one or more games.

With regards to the potential discipline for Talib, Broncos executive vice president of football operations/general manager John Elway has repeatedly said, “We haven’t heard anything, and I don’t know what will ultimately be the decision.”

Talib, in his ninth NFL season, had three interceptions–two of which were returned for touchdowns– and 45 tackles during the Broncos’ championship season in 2015.

The three-time Pro Bowler has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New England Patriots.

The Broncos (4-0) will host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, following a 7-7 road victory over the Buccaneers.

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib will miss the team’s trip to the White House on Monday after getting shot at a Dallas nightclub early Sunday morning.

Talib, who was shot in the lower right leg, was not expected to be released from a Dallas hospital until Monday, team spokesman Patrick Smyth stated. The Broncos were headed to Washington to celebrate their Super Bowl 50 title, according to Smith.

Earlier, Talib’s teammates said they had spoken to him and “we are glad he is ok and will make a full recovery.”

Although the cornerback was not expected to require surgery, it remains unknown exactly how much time, if any, he will have to miss due to his gunshot wound.

The team’s mandatory three-day minicamps begins Tuesday, and there is a final set of offseason practices next week. Training camp will start in late July.

Talib, 30, stated last week that he was eager to meet President Barack Obama, and that he had even purchased a custom-made suit for the occasion.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how that looks,” Talib said after practice Tuesday. “Meet Obama before he get up out (of there). Something I’ve never done before. With these guys, too, man, there are so many characters in this locker room, so just to be able to do something I’ve never done before with these guys, it will be a blast for us.”

On Sunday afternoon, Dallas police posted a blog about the overnight shootings of Talib and another individual, but the links to the incident reports were invalid because the reports weren’t uploaded.

Police reportedly told The Dallas Morning News that Talib was one of two people shot during an altercation at at the Vlive club and that both victims were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Broncos cornerback Kayvon Webster tweeted, “My boy Talib is fine thanking man upstairs!”

KUSA’s Mike Klis reported Talib’s gunshot wound was “accidental.”

Talib was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the 20th pick in the first round of the 2008 NFL draft after playing collegiately at Kansas, where he received unanimous All-American honors. His 30 interceptions and eight pick-6s are tops in the league since 2008, his rookie year in Tampa Bay, where he spent four years before joining the New England Patriots for one season.

Talib will now begin his third season in Denver. He signed a six-year, $57 million contract in 2014 that includes a base salary of $8.5 million for this upcoming season and a roster bonus of nearly $500,000.

Last year, he made $5.5 million minus one game check of $323,529 after being suspended for deliberately poking an Indianapolis Colts player in the eye after a play the previous week. Talib finished the 2015-2016 season with 45 tackles, 13 pass breakups and three interceptions, two of them returned for touchdowns, in earning his third consecutive Pro Bowl berth.

He helped stop the Carolina Panthers’ offense in the Super Bowl last February, breaking up two of quarterback Cam Newton’s passes and collecting five tackles in the Broncos’ 24-10 victory. He also drew a pair of personal foul penalties in that game, for taunting and face-mask fouls in the second quarter that resulted in fines totaling $26,044.

Talib’s incident in Dallas is the latest in a series of off-the-field issues he has been involved in since the start of his pro career.

In 2009, Talib was arrested for simple battery and resisting arrest in St. Petersburg, Fla., following an altercation with a cab driver. He was suspended for the 2010 season opener for violating the NFL’s personal-conduct policy.

In 2011, Talib and his mother were charged in Dallas County with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a confrontation with the boyfriend of Talib’s sister. However, the felony charge was later dropped.
