Eli Manning, the New York Giants’ legendary quarterback, isn’t the only big name looking to buy a minority stake in the historic franchise.

Floyd Mayweather Jr., the famed boxer, has surfaced as a potential buyer alongside his business partner Meyer Orbach, with an offer for a 10 percent share of the Giants, valued at around $700 million.

“My partners and I are always looking at different opportunities, including ownership of sports teams. I can’t comment further than that,” Orbach, a prominent figure in real estate, said.

Another investor is expected to join the group, and they plan to submit the proposal soon.

This news comes just days after the Mara and Tisch families hired Moelis & Company, an investment bank, “to explore the potential sale of a minority, non-controlling stake in the New York Giants,” according to a statement from the team.

Moelis reached out to potential suitors earlier this month.

In August 2024, the Giants, fresh off a disappointing 3-14 season, were given a $7.3 billion valuation.

Prior to the news of the sale breaking, Manning—who played for the Giants for 16 seasons and won two Super Bowls—expressed interest in buying a stake in his former team.

“There’s probably only one team I’d be interested in pursuing, and it’s the one I played for 16 years, and it’s local and makes the most sense, but we just got to figure out if they would ever sell a little bit,” he shared back in January. 

In August, the NFL began allowing private equity investment, capping ownership at 10 percent for franchises. 

In October, Tom Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion – six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – was involved in an ownership group’s purchase of a 10 percent stake in the Las Vegas Raiders, with his share totaling five percent.

Mayweather Jr. holds a record of 50-0 in his career and is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time. After defeating Conor McGregor in 2017 and earning an estimated $275 million from the bout, Mayweather announced his retirement. On the other hand, Paul entered the ring with just two previous fights under his belt. Both of Paul’s previous bouts came against the rapper and vlogger Olajide “KSI” Olatunji. The first fight between these two ended in a draw, with KSI victorious in the second fight.

Mayweather discussed his enjoyment and even paid some respect to his less experienced opponent in a post-fight interview. “I had fun… He’s better than I thought he was,” he said. “He’s a rough, tough competitor. I was surprised by him tonight.” Mayweather also discussed another potential fight with Paul’s younger brother, Jake Paul. Jake Paul also lacks experience in comparison to Mayweather as his boxing career consists of a TKO of Ben Askren, a former MMA fighter, and a KO of Nate Robinson, a former NBA player.

This fight was a pay-per-view event covered by Showtime Sunday and occurred at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, FL. Many audience members experienced difficulties streaming the fight. A Showtime spokesperson made a statement via email to CNN during the fight. “We are aware that some customers have been having trouble accessing tonight’s Pay Per View event on SHOWTIME.com. We are working diligently to resolve the issue and will redress customers appropriately,” the statement read.

Time will tell whether Mayweather fights Logan Paul again, or his younger brother Jake.

Floyd Mayweather Jr and Jake Paul got into a heated exchange that resulted in Paul stealing Mayweather’s hat.

The incident occurred while Mayweather was being interviewed about his upcoming exhibition fight against Paul’s older brother, Logan. The 44-year-old boxing legend called out the Paul brothers and referred to them as “fake fighters” during his face-off with Logan Paul and claimed that he will fight both of them at once. “I don’t have to talk about what I’m going to do,” Mayweather said. “The world knows what I’m going to do, I’m willing to fight both in the same night.”

The comment did not sit well with the younger Paul brother, who then ran up to Mayweather and got into a scuffle with the undefeated boxer. The two got into a verbal argument, and it ended with Jake taking Mayweather’s hat and saying, “I gotcha hat,” before trying to run away. Jake did not make it far before being restrained by the boxing legend’s bodyguards and the boxer. It appeared that punches were thrown at Jake while he was being restrained. After the two were separated, a heated Mayweather yelled, “I’ll kill you mother****er,” towards Jake. Jake, on the other hand, admitted that he was punched in the face during the scuffle. “One of Floyd’s 30 bodyguards got a clean shot on me in the eye,” Jake Paul said.

It has been reported that the younger Paul has been banned from attending the scheduled fight. In a video posted on Logan’s Instagram story, he tells his brother: “They’re not letting you into the fight. You’re literally banned from the Hard Rock Stadium on June 6.” Jake then responded, “Swipe up, I’ll buy the fight. I don’t care.”

Mayweather is scheduled to fight Logan Paul on June 6 at the Hard Rock Stadium. Mayweather is 50-0 and regarded as one of the greatest fighters of all time. Logan Paul is 0-1 in his boxing career so far, losing to fellow YouTuber KSI.

The long-awaited Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Logan Paul exhibition match will happen. The two will fight on June 6 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

The news of the bout was confirmed on Twitter by the Mayweather Promotions, who tweeted out the news along with the caption, “The historic crossover event is signed & sealed!” the tweet read. “Mayweather vs. Paul live at Hard Rock Sunday, June 6th.”

The fight was originally scheduled for February but was postponed indefinitely until Tuesday’s announcement. The date of the fight is later than when most had speculated. It was expected that the two would fight on June 5.

The announcement did not give more details about the fight nor did it disclose the rules. When the fight was originally scheduled for February, the agreed terms required Mayweather to weigh under 160 pounds and for Paul to weigh under 190 pounds.

Mayweather’s last professional fight was in 2017 against UFC star Conor McGregor. It was one of the most hyped crossover matches and was a 10-round TKO win for Mayweather. The win improved the five-time champion’s career record to 50-0. The boxing legend last fought in 2018 in an exhibition bout against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa. The exhibition match resulted in another win for the boxing legend, a first-round TKO win.

On the other hand, Paul along with his younger brother, Jake Paul, are YouTubers-turned-boxers. The elder Paul has not experienced the same success as his younger brother. The elder has only had two boxing bouts, an exhibition and a professional one. Both bouts were against fellow YouTuber KSI. Both matches were a loss for the elder Paul.

Mayweather is the overwhelming favorite to win the exhibition match. For now, there is no additional information about the fight card.
