The Philadelphia Eagles used their final draft pick of the 2026 NFL draft on a complete project player who has never played organized football in his life.

Uar Bernard did not expect to hear his name called on Saturday before the Eagles made his dream come true and announced his name with the 251st pick. Bernard is from a small town in Nigeria and was drafted to be a defensive tackle.

“It’s a dream come true for me, because I’ve worked hard for this. I’ve not played football, but I’ve gone through some drills that made me believe that I’m going to get better every day,” Bernard said in his first press conference after being drafted.

“I thank God for everything. I thank God for life. I thank God for the opportunities given to me to be drafted by the Eagles.”

Bernard is a physical specimen, standing at 6’4 and weighing 306 pounds with just 6% body fat. He ran a very impressive 4.63 40-yard dash and a 39-inch vertical, which is remarkable considering his stature.

He was first introduced to football by former New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora and got invited to the NFL Nigeria Camp in 2024.

Hall of Fame defensive end Michael Strahan called it a “smart pick,” adding that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman “very rarely misses.”

Former Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has reportedly been arrested.

Jeffery, 36, was charged with insurance fraud, along with failing to disclose an insurance benefit or payment.

Jeffery was booked in California on Wednesday morning and has already been released. The incident occurred in San Diego County.

Jeffery’s agency released a statement denying the reports, saying, “Alshon Jeffery categorically denies the allegations that have been reported. The underlying incident was a minor freeway fender bender, and he provided his information at the scene.”

“These are unfounded allegations only, and Alshon has not been convicted of any offense. He will address this matter through the legal process, and he remains confident that the facts will demonstrate this was a misunderstanding and nothing more.”

Jeffery was drafted by the Bears in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, playing five seasons for them before going to the Eagles and winning a Super Bowl in 2017.

The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing in former Kansas City Chiefs wideout Marquise “Hollywood” Brown on a one-year contract worth up to $6.5 million.

Brown, 28, spent the past two seasons with the Chiefs, struggling to stay on the field and remain healthy. Health has always been a concern for the eighth-year wide receiver, but the Eagles hope he can be a reliable deep threat for quarterback and fellow Sooner, Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles have always liked Brown, targeting him in the 2019 NFL Draft, before trading up to select offensive tackle Andre Dillard with the 22nd pick. The Baltimore Ravens would then use the Eagles’ 25th overall draft pick to select Brown.

Brown was drafted out of Oklahoma and was one of the best wide receivers in all of college football, playing alongside Heisman winners Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray.

The speedy receiver spent three years in Baltimore before requesting a trade after he was unhappy with his role in the offense. Brown was sent to the Arizona Cardinals, where he got to reunite with Murray.

Brown slots in currently as the Eagles’ wide receiver three, but that remains to be seen depending on a potential A.J. Brown trade. As Jahan Dotson left in free agency, the Eagles needed to bring in another outside threat to go alongside Devonta Smith.

In his lone healthy season with the Chiefs, the speedster tallied 587 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

The latest update on the A.J. Brown saga has made things a little clearer as to where the Philadelphia Eagles‘ star wide receiver will be playing next year.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Los Angeles Rams are no longer interested in trading for Brown, leaving the New England Patriots as the lone suitor. It was once a competitive market for Brown, but considering the price, contract and age, many teams do not want to give up the draft capital required to trade for him.

Momentum for a Brown trade started heating up last week, when his market was at its highest, but now it has gotten a lot quieter. It is now more likely than ever that Brown will remain an Eagle.

According to an insider, Dianna Russini, Brown will not be moved at this time, and a potential date to target is June 1, when he could be dealt. This makes things financially easier for the Eagles from a cap space standpoint, but it reduces their leverage in a trade.

It is unknown when a conclusion to this saga will come, but for now, Brown remains in Philadelphia with no trade imminent.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni could not guarantee that star wide receiver A.J. Brown would be back with the organization heading into next season. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman also declined to confirm that Brown would be back with the team next season.

This comes after season-long speculation that the Eagles and Brown could be heading toward a divorce as Brown voiced his frustration with his role in the offense.

Sirianni spoke to the media about Brown, saying, “Yeah, my expectation is he wants to be here. And obviously you want good players like that in your building.”

“As Howie said, it’s hard to get good players in this league. A.J.’s a great player and A.J. is a good teammate and A.J. is a good person. Does he want to be here? Yes. Do I want him to be here? Yes.”

Then Sirianni was asked directly whether he can confirm if Brown will be back, adding, “Will A.J. be here next season? I think we’re still in a spot, like, I can’t guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season. I’m thinking I’m going to be the coach next season, but you can’t guarantee anything past tomorrow.”

Brown, 28, called Philadelphia “home” when he appeared on Micah Parsons’ podcast during the week of the Super Bowl. He also said that he was “fortunate” to be one of the leaders on the Eagles’ offense.

Brown still managed to eclipse 1,000 yards last season and score seven touchdowns, despite what was considered a “down” year for the receiver.

It remains to be seen whether Brown will be back with the Eagles or will have a new home next season.

Hall of Fame quarterback Sonny Jurgensen has died at the age of 91. The former Philadelphia Eagle and Washington Redskins player was a fan favorite for his bubbly personality.

In a statement released by the Commanders on Friday, Jurgensen’s family announced that he died due to natural causes in Naples, Florida, the family saying, “It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our husband, father, and grandfather, Sonny Jurgensen.”

Jurgensen is best known for his time in Washington, where he played 11 seasons with the Commanders. Jurgensen made the Pro Bowl five times in his career, four in Washington and one in Philadelphia. He also led the league in passing yards three times, and his 31 passing touchdowns in 1967 are a Washington Commanders franchise record.

Jurgensen went from the Eagles to the Commanders in 1964 when he was swapped for quarterback Norm Snead in a rare quarterback-for-quarterback trade.

Jurgensen was a backup quarterback for the Eagles for four seasons before becoming the starter. He was a backup when the Eagles won the NFL title in 1960.

The Hall of Fame quarterback holds the record, tied with many, for the longest touchdown pass ever, throwing a 99-yard touchdown to Gerry Allen in 1968.

Jurgensen was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1983 and is a part of both the Eagles and Commanders Hall of Fame/Ring of Fame.

The Philadelphia Eagles have finally found their offensive coordinator for the 2026 season, hiring Sean Mannion, who previously served as the quarterback coach for Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers.

Mannion spent nine seasons as a backup quarterback in the NFL, starting 14 games for the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings. Mannion was drafted by the then St. Louis Rams as a third-round pick out of Oregon State.

Mannion has been a coach for just two seasons, joining the Packers staff in 2024 and being quickly promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2025. Mannion helped with the development of Love, as the sixth-year quarterback saw major improvements this year in taking care of the football, throwing only six interceptions compared to 11 in the two seasons prior.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni had nothing but praise for his new offensive coordinator, saying, “It was quickly apparent in meeting with Sean that he is a bright young coach with a tremendous future ahead of him in this league. I was impressed by his systematic views on offensive football and his strategic approach.”

Mannion now will have the opportunity to work with Super Bowl-winning quarterback Jalen Hurts, who saw a decline this season in his rushing and passing game. Hurts had 50 fewer rushing attempts this season, which was unusual for the dual-threat quarterback.

The Eagles had initially targeted former head coaches Mike McDaniel and Brian Daboll to be their new offensive coordinator, but decided to go elsewhere and hire Mannion.

The trend continues of former backup quarterbacks getting offensive coordinator looks, as Mannion joins David Blough and Davis Webb.

It has yet to be determined whether Mannion will be the play-caller for the Eagles or if it will be Sirianni, but regardless, it will be the fifth different offensive coordinator Hurts has had in his six seasons in the NFL.

Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive linemen Kevin Johnson died on Wednesday morning due to what is determined to be “blunt head trauma and stab wounds,” according to the medical examiner.

Johnson, 55, was found unconscious at a homeless encampment in Los Angeles. His death was later ruled a homicide and is currently being investigated. Johnson was said to be living at the encampment at the time of his death, according to investigators.

According to Johnson’s friends, the lineman struggled with health issues later in his life.

Johnson attended Texas Southern University from 1991 to 1992 and was a fourth-round pick in the 1993 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders before joining the Philadelphia Eagles. Johnson had 43 tackles and seven sacks, while adding a fumble returned for a touchdown during his two years with the Eagles. After his NFL career, Johnson played arena football for Orlando and Los Angeles.

After a disappointing wildcard loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator, moving on from Kevin Patullo after one year.

However, according to NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo, the Eagles did not fire Patullo, as there is still a chance he remains on Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff.

The Eagles hoped for a repeat of last season, but a lackluster offensive output this year led players to openly call for change.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts avoided all questions regarding Patullo and his future with the organization. When Hurts was asked if he wanted Patullo back, he stated, “It’s too soon to think about that,” at his Monday press conference while cleaning out his locker.

The Eagles’ offense struggled to find an identity, struggling in both the pass and run games compared to last season with Kellen Moore, who went on to take the head coaching job with the New Orleans Saints.

Hurts will be going into his seventh season with his seventh different offensive coordinator, which can make it difficult to find an identity.

Hurts had two games this season in which he failed to complete a pass in the second half. Hurts also saw a massive drop-off in rushing attempts, going from 150 carries in 2024 to 105 in 2025.

A.J. Brown was also a major talking point throughout the year as his production dipped with Patullo as the playcaller. Brown got into a verbal altercation with Sirianni during Sunday’s game, which led to Brown not speaking to the media after the game and on Monday. Brown publicly voiced his frustration throughout the season, questioning his role in the offense.

The Eagles will look to bounce back next season with a new play caller, but uncertainty remains about Brown’s future with the Eagles.

The Arizona Cardinals released veteran tight end Zach Ertz on Thursday. The 33-year-old reportedly requested to be released so that he could sign with a championship contender.

In an odd wrinkle, retired defensive star J.J. Watt broke the news about Ertz on social media, joking that he was trying new things in retirement. Watt also reported Ertz’s intentions to sign elsewhere.

“TE Zach Ertz has requested & been granted his release from the Arizona Cardinals,” Watt said on X. “The 3-Time Pro Bowler plans to sign with a contender and make a run at his 2nd Super Bowl ring.”

Ertz was a longtime member of the Philadelphia Eagles and won a Super Bowl with the team in 2018. He was traded to the Cardinals in 2021 and continued to prove moderately productive. His 2022 season ended early due to a knee injury and he has missed significant time in 2023 as well after injuring his quadriceps.

Though Ertz would not likely be a starting tight end for any team making a Super Bowl run this year, he could still have something to offer at full health. It may not be a coincidence that Philadelphia, his old team, recently lost reliable starter Dallas Goedert to injury, though it isn’t the only potential destination for the three-time Pro-Bowler.

Though the Cardinals have not been as bad as some speculated before the season, the team has been mediocre nonetheless and will almost certainly miss the postseason. This, in addition to the rise of young Cardinals tight end Trey McBride, seems to be a factor in Ertz’s departure.

The Eagles are not the only top team to lose a tight end in recent weeks, as the Ravens also lost Mark Andrews several weeks ago on Thursday Night Football against the Bengals. The team is in contention for the top seed in the AFC and is considered a key contender in a wide-open playoff race.

If Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII, the quarterback will win his second Super Bowl in five seasons as a starter in the NFL. Such a victory would keep him on an incredible pace, one that could someday qualify him as the greatest passer in NFL history.

But what if he doesn’t win? Well, the world will keep turning, for one.

Making a case between Mahomes and Tom Brady, the presumptive GOAT by most metrics because of his Super Bowl titles and longevity, is a farcical argument at this point in Mahomes’ career. As an individual, the Chiefs quarterback is arguably more talented now than Brady ever was at any point in his career. But in terms of achievements, namely championships, it’s impossible to project what Mahomes can accomplish in comparison to what Brady has already done.

Yet, whenever Mahomes advances to the AFC Championship, as he has done in all five of his seasons as a starter, or the Super Bowl, which he has now done three times, the GOAT conversation resurfaces, as if fans are warming up to a generational battle between the two quarterbacks. The word “legacy” becomes an unbearable buzzword on sports television, just as it does whenever LeBron James breaks a record Michael Jordan never even approached.

Not only does this lead nowhere, but it also leads some to criticize Mahomes as an “overrated” quarterback, which should be impossible. Unlike the James/Jordan debate, which includes tangible statistics and accolades between two bodies of work, one complete and the other nearly complete, a debate between Brady and Mahomes is not close to taking flight.

Brady won more Super Bowls than Mahomes has had seasons in the NFL, counting his rookie season on the bench behind Alex Smith. The only way one can possibly complain about Mahomes’ on-field play is to compare him to those with finished stories. He’s not overrated; people are just making silly comparisons.

“I’m trying to catch Tom,” Mahomes said at a press conference earlier this week. “But Tom’s a long ways away. You can ask me when I’m like 38 years old.”

Instead of engaging in a mind-numbing discourse that will not be fully resolved for at least another decade, if ever, it may be more prudent to engage in a more basic form of appreciation. On Sunday, the best quarterback in the NFL will face the Philadelphia Eagles, arguably the best team in the league on a position-by-position basis and try to figure out a way around them. Jalen Hurts won’t hand him the title; he’s an excellent quarterback in his own right trying to win a championship in his second season. A stifling defense will give him an excellent chance to do so.

That’s what Mahomes is focused on, after all. He won’t be thinking about Brady in the huddle on Sunday. He’ll be thinking of ways to get the ball to Travis Kelce and an army of stunningly obscure receivers against one of the best defenses in the NFL on the most widely watched episode of television on the planet. Why on Earth are we still talking about Tom Brady?

49ers running back Christian McCaffrey believes that the NFL’s 2011 abolishment of the “emergency quarterback” rule cost his team a chance to go to the Super Bowl.

After losing both Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson to injuries during the NFC Championship game, San Francisco’s offense stagnated badly in a 31-7 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“You don’t want to make excuses, but it just sucks, because we wish we had a healthy quarterback for a full game and just kind of see how the game would have panned out,” McCaffrey said on FanDuel TV’s Up and Adams. “It’s a really good team that we played, but it feels like something got stolen from you. Just wish it would have played out differently.”

Following an injury to Purdy on the first drive and another injury to Johnson early in the third quarter, McCaffrey was preparing to play quarterback himself before head coach Kyle Shanahan ultimately decided to put Purdy back in the game. The 49ers starter finished the game despite serious limitations in his throwing elbow. He could barely throw a forward pass.

Under NFL regulations from 1991 to 2011, every team had a third unrostered quarterback, known as an emergency quarterback, that could play when both quarterbacks on the depth chart were unavailable. The rule was scrapped when owners agreed to expand rosters from 45 to 46 players, giving teams the option to roster three quarterbacks without mandating it.

It’s obviously impossible to know how the rule could have changed the 49ers’ final result against the Eagles, who will play the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl this Sunday. But if it had been put in place, it would have at least given the team another option and given the team to protect Purdy, who will now require a year to recover from a UCL injury.

Eight Philadelphia Eagles players have been invited to the 2022 Pro Bowl, a league-leading number this season for the 13-1 NFC powerhouse. Six of them have been named as starters at their respective positions, more than the number invited by all but three other teams in the NFL.

In the NFL’s roster announcement Wednesday, the league revealed that quarterback Jalen Hurts, wide receiver A.J. Brown, tackle Lane Johnson, guard Landon Dickerson, center Jason Kelce and cornerback Darius Slay would all start for the NFC in the Pro Bowl. Running back Miles Sanders and outside linebacker Haason Reddick were also named as reserves.

“I’m blessed. I still have a lot more to do. It feels great to have people recognize my talent and the work I’ve done this year, but I and we still have a lot more work to do,” Brown said after the announcement.

Behind the Eagles’ eight players in this year’s game, only the Kansas City Chiefs have seven, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce. The Ravens and 49ers each had six players selected while the Vikings had five.

Only two teams — the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars — did not receive a single invite. Many consider Bears quarterback Justin Fields to be one of the biggest snubs in 2022, though few have argued that he should have replaced Hurts.

As the league’s top team, the Eagles’ eight Pro Bowl selections make sense, as the team has proven superior on both sides of the ball during the regular season. Hurts and Brown have quickly become one of the deadliest duos in the league in less than one full season behind one of the league’s stoutest offensive lines. Meanwhile, defensive contributors like Slay and Reddick have helped hold Philadelphia’s opponents to just 19.1 points per game in 2022, sixth best in the NFL.

“It’s cool,” Kelce said. “Hopefully, we’re busier at that time of the year than having any of us go to the Pro Bowl.”

Former Eagles’ running back and Super Bowl Champion Jay Ajayi has finally received an insurance settlement from a loss-of-value policy. Once thought to be one of the better young running backs in the NFL, Ajayi’s career went downhill after sustaining a torn ACL in 2018.

A standout at Boise State, Ajayi had garnered praise for both his running and catching abilities. In three seasons with the Broncos, Ajayi racked up over 3700 rushing yards to go along with over 700 receiving yards and a whopping 55 total touchdowns. His success led him to be drafted in the fifth round by the Miami Dolphins in the 2015 NFL Draft. Ajayi broke out in his second year in the league, rushing for over 1200 yards with eight touchdowns. These feats earned him his first Pro Bowl selection in 2016, but he was traded for a conditional fourth-round pick in 2017 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Although he garnered fewer touches and playing time, he was still able to win a Super Bowl Championship with the team in 2017.

Unfortunately, four games into Ajayi’s first full season with the Eagles, he tore his ACL keeping him out of the remainder of the 2018 season. He would also only play three games in 2019, the final games of his career. However, Ajayi had taken out an insurance policy just in case a serious injury prevented him from playing. The policy ensured he would receive upwards of about $5 million after taxes. The policy was set to kick in in 2019 following the signing of his one year, $805,000 with the Eagles, however, there were many legal roadblocks preventing that from happening.

Ajayi’s business manager Joshua Sanchez has yet to confirm how much the former Eagle’s running back has received in this particular settlement but one can argue that the young star would have been set to receive more than $5 million had it not been for the injury impacted his career.

Carli Lloyd proved this week she is not just a talented soccer player and that she could also have a shot at playing in the NFL one day.

The 37-year-old Sky Blue FC star — who last month helped the United States Women’s National Team win their second straight World Cup title — attended a joint practice between the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday and quickly impressed after nailing a 55-yard field goal.

Lloyd, a die-hard Eagles fan, also kicked several 40-yard field goals on the field in Philadelphia.

“I’m really impressed with all these guys,” Lloyd said in a video she posted. “It’s awesome to be here. Really looking forward to the season.”

The video showing Llyod’s kicking ability rapidly spread around online and caught the attention of Pro Football Hall of Famer Gil Brandt, who said he believed she could make history as the first female NFL player and deserved at least an “honest tryout.”

During the U.S. Women’s National Team’s World Cup victory parade last month, Lloyd paid tribute to her favorite NFL team by chanting “Fly Eagles Fly.”

Lloyd, a two-time Olympic gold medallist and FIFA Player of the Year, scored three goals in this year’s World Cup. She hinted at possibly retiring after defeating the Netherlands in the final of the tournament in France, so perhaps a future in the NFL could be in store for her.

Their schedule is filled with back to back games on the West Coast, featuring teams like the Los Angeles Rams, an eager young strong squad looking to prove themselves after last year’s Super Bowl. They also face the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson the week after.

In the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles will be playing in their seventh conference title game in franchise history when they host the Minnesota Vikings, who pulled off a thrilling 29-24 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday with a touchdown in the last seconds. Stefon Diggs caught a 61-yard pass from Case Keenum to seal the win.

The Eagles defeated the Atlanta Falcons 15-10 to reach the NFC title game. Nick Foles threw for 246 yards in the win against Atlanta, so the Eagles offense is certainly a force to be reckoned with.

Should the Vikings win on Sunday, they would become the first team in NFL history to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Sunday will be Minnesota’s tenth NFC championship game in history and their first since 2009.

The Eagles are seeking their first Super Bowl trophy in the modern era. Philadelphia won three NFL Championships (1948, 1949, 1960) before the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.

Things have not been going well for Philadelphia Eagles running back DeMarco Murray. After leading the NFL and breaking the Dallas Cowboys single-season franchise record last year with 1,845 rushing yards, it would be customary for the Cowboys to sign their star running back but ultimately did not. During the offseason, Murray was signed by the Eagles off free agency with a 5-year, $40 million contract with $22 million guaranteed. Since then, the running back has rushed for only 606 yards this season and it seems that there are trust issues between Murray and head coach Chip Kelly.

According to Albert Breer of NFL Media, Murray has been reported that he wants out of the Eagles and that he would like to go back to the Cowboys. In contrast, the Cowboys seem to not be interested in their old running back. According to an unnamed team source, the source says, “The guy is a pro in his preparation and toughness and competitiveness. But he’s also entitled, selfish and condescending. He’s a great ‘team’ guy when he’s the guy.” This says that Murray is a player that will loaf around if he is not given the ball or things do not go his way.

Last night against the Arizona Cardinals, Murray only had two carries for three yards in the third quarter before being pulled for the rest of the game. The Eagles will face off in a crucial division battle against the Washington Redskins on Saturday night.

Before last night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Arizona Cardinals had already won seven straight games and were one win away from clinching the NFC West division in a season that sure looks promising for one of the NFC’s top contenders.

With a close game during the first half with the Cardinals up 17-10, the gas was turned on in the second half with the Cardinals winning in a whopping 40-17 game. Rookie running back David Johnson, who subbed in for injured backs Andre Ellington and Chris Johnson, finished the game with 187 yards in rushing and three touchdowns, including a 47-yard touchdown run. Quarterback Carson Palmer threw 274 yards on 20 completions including a touchdown to wide receiver John Brown, regardless of leaving the game for a play because of an injury on his right index finger. On the losing side, Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford had a somewhat impressive game with 361 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions including one that was run back for a touchdown by Cardinals safety Deone Bucannon at the start of the fourth quarter. Eagles running back Demarco Murray only having two carries and running three yards, thus questioning the trust issues between him and head coach Chip Kelly.

With last night’s win, the Cardinals officially clinched the NFC West, their first division win since 2009, with a record of 12-2. They can clinch a first round bye if they win against the Green Bay Packers next week. The Eagles still have a chance to clinch the weak NFC East if they were to win both of their games against the Redskins and Giants for the last two games of the season.
