On November 5, 1999, former NBA star Dennis Rodman was arrested and charged with simple battery.

Rodman was at the Bentley Hotel in Miami when people reported screaming and arguing from his hotel room. Police found Rodman with scratches on his arm and a ripped shirt, and his ex-wife, Carmen Electra, was also in the room with a cut on her lip and foot, along with multiple bruises.

Both Rodman and Electra were arrested and charged with simple battery. The charges were later dropped because neither party wanted to pursue the case, and there was insufficient evidence to further the prosecution.

During Rodman’s collegiate career, he initially attended Cooke County College before transferring to Southeastern Oklahoma State University due to academic reasons.

Despite playing at the NAIA level, Rodman was dominant, which prompted him to enter the 1986 NBA Draft, where he was selected No. 27 by the Detroit Pistons.

Rodman played 14 seasons in the NBA, where he won five championships, two NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards, and was an eight-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection. He was also a two-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA Third Team selection.

In the NBA, Rodman was renowned for his exceptional rebounding ability. He led the league in rebounding for seven consecutive seasons from 1992 to 1998.

Rodman retired during the 1999-2000 season to pursue other interests. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.

Forward Trinity Rodman, daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman, was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the National Women’s Soccer League by the Washington Spirit.

Trinity is the youngest of the Rodman family, and her older brother DJ plays college basketball at Washington State. Rodman, 18, was also supposed to play at Washington State, but the last college soccer season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. Instead of joining her brother at college, Rodman is moving forward with her professional career.

Last year, she played on the US national under-20 women’s soccer team and led them to the Concacaf Championship in March 2020.

“To even just be in the draft with my situation and my age is insane, but to be No 2 to an amazing team is out of this world like I couldn’t ask for anything more,” Rodman told ESPN. “DC has just got an awesome program, awesome team. The coach [Richie Burke] is amazing. I’ve talked to him a couple times. I know he’s a hard head coach, but I’m so excited to be his player and learn and get better.”

“He was an amazing athlete,” she said about her father. “And I got those genes from him, but I’m excited to be known as Trinity Rodman and not just as Rodman‘s daughter. I’m excited to pave my own path and get better throughout this journey.”

In this year’s NWSL draft, expansion team Racing Louisville used the first overall pick to select a member of the US women’s national team, Emily Fox. Fox, 22, was a defender at the University of North Carolina and appeared with the women’s national soccer team three times.

If you watched the final two episodes of The Last Dance last night, you probably saw one part of the Bulls second three-peat that doesn’t get talked about much anymore but is something that should not be glossed over. Dennis Rodman skipped a practice in between Game’s 3 & 4 of the 1998 NBA Finals to go and wrestle with Hulk Hogan in Michigan during WCW Nitro.

Rodman was no stranger to leaving his Bulls teammates out of the blue, as earlier that season, Rodman took a 48-hour vacation where he went to Las Vegas, had no contact with the team and was simply left to his own devices.

In the documentary, Rodman commented on this ‘detour’ (which Rodman’s girlfriend at the time, Carmen Electra, called it), saying that Phil Jackson had that understanding that Rodman would give it his all on the court, but needed to have the opportunity to do as he pleased. “I think Phil (Jackson) realized that I needed to always do me, just go do what I do. They’re gonna get 100% when I’m on the court.”

The media attention around Rodman following his appearance on WCW Nitro was so big that Rodman and the Bulls staff had to find ways to sneak Rodman around reporters and allow him to exit the facility. During last night’s episode, there was a scene where Rodman was snuck out of a side exit from the Bulls’ locker room, around the reporters and by the team everyone realized what was gone, Rodman was long gone. In one interview during the finals, he talked about his reasoning behind missing practice. “I wasn’t trying to do anything. I was just trying to play basketball, party, da, da, da, da. F— all the girls. Just be me. Dennis s–t, you know.”

Rodman was fined by the team for missing practice, but in the end it did not hurt the team, as the Bulls won their sixth title in eight years, Rodman’s fifth championship in his career (he won three with the Bulls), and he would go down as one of the best players and personas in NBA history.

Seems like Draymond Green needs an attitude adjustment.  The forward for the Golden State Warriors was arrested early Sunday morning on assault charges in East Lansing, Michigan.  Now that he’s been in the league for a few years, he’s going to act up, how very Rasheed Wallace.

Players like Wallace, Dennis Rodman, and Metta World Peace are in good behavior in their first few years in the league, then they get comfortable and become overly emotional, accumulating technical fouls and can be found in trouble off the court.  Comparing Green, or anyone, to Metta World Peace is a bit of a stretch, but there’s definitely some antagonistic Wallace and Rodman fire in Green.

According to ESPN, police officers said there was an altercation between Green and another man at Conrad’s Grill and no one was injured.  Police were not called to the restaurant because they were already there on patrol.  Green was let go on $200 bond.

Green is scheduled for arraignment July 20 and if he is convicted he could be fined $500 and spend up to 93 days in jail.  It is unclear as to whether this is going to affect him representing Team USA at the Olympics in Rio.

We’ve started to notice a gradual slide in Green’s behavior.

Green flailed and kicked Oklahoma City Thunder Steven Adam’s groin in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals resulting in a flagrant 1.  This foul could have been totally accidental so we can’t really criticize him on this, but it was still ruled a flagrant 1.

Green had to miss Game 5 of the Finals for reaching the quota of technical and flagrant fouls in postseason play.  Green’s technical fouls have been increasing since he entered the league.  This past season he had 13 technical fouls and five of those technicals were in the post-season.

Wallace holds the NBA all-time record for number of technical fouls in his career with 317.  He also holds the single-season record for technical fouls.  During the 2000-2001 season Wallace had 41 technicals over 80 games, roughly one technical every two games.

Green is fiery and emotional which has been good for motivating the Warriors to an NBA record-setting 73-9 season.  He may really want to win, but needs to be smarter about when he chooses to lose his temper.  Missing Game 5 of the Finals didn’t help the Warriors as teammate Andre Iguodala was struggling with back problems and Golden State had no rim protection.

Head coach for the Warriors, Steve Kerr, will have to ensure the heartbeat of his team doesn’t get too out of hand causing the team to flatline.  Green wants nothing more than to help his team win and be successful on the court but his behavior on and off the court is going to need to shape up.

Altercations outside the court takes things to a new level.

Rodman and Wallace were excellent players, and Steve Kerr said a Green-Rodman match-up would be fun to see, not bad for Green being compared to a Hall of Famer.  Throughout Rodman’s career he averaged 7.34 points and 13.12 rebounds per game.  Wallace averaged 14.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and after four years in the NBA Green is averaging 8.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Wallace and Rodman were assets to their teams, but they were always a liability because they could explode at any moment, and it was guaranteed to happen, it was just a matter of when.  Green needs to keep being an asset to the Warriors organization and leave the attitude because with the acquisition of superstar Kevin Durant Green’s behavior won’t be as tolerated.

Green has proven basketball is easy, but controlling his emotions is not.

Ex-NBA journeyman Kenny Anderson, who played in the NBA from 1991 to 2006 for a variety of teams, is happy that The Interview was canceled. For those who have been living under a rock, Anderson refers to the recent cancellation of the Seth Rogen comedy: the studio shut down the release after a hacker group, allegedly attached to North Korea, attacked Sony and threatened violence against all theaters who played the movie.

And the decision to cancel the movie has left people up in arms: with various celebrities condemning the cowardly act by Sony and the National Association of Theatre Owners. On the other hand, Kenny Anderson admits he was relieved with Sony’s actions: referring to Sony’s eventual financial losses, Kenny told TMZ Sports “the money’s not as important as human lives… “Sometimes it’s best to cut your losses.””

Now, why does this former player’s comment carry weight? Kenny Anderson was one of the players who visited North Korea with Dennis Rodman’s peace brigade.

Anderson, who actually met Kim Jong-un, told TMZ Sports “I was trippin’ when I saw the movie preview. Why would they want to ruffle their feathers? They already hate America.” And even went on record claiming that Jong-un treated him very well: though he did admit he was ignorant of the atrocities done by Kim Jong-un’s government.
