The Indianapolis Colts have signed quarterback Daniel Jones to a two-year extension.

His contract will be for $88 million. The Colts have made an effort to bring back their 2025 offense, as they also signed Alec Pierce to an extension.

Jones is coming off a career year with the Colts, where he had a career-high 100.2 passer rating. However, he also tore his Achilles which caused him to miss the final four games of the season.

The Colts had an 8-5 record with Jones and went on a four-game losing streak without him. Jones expects to be ready to play by the 2026 season opener.

Jones started his career with the New York Giants, where he was drafted with the No. 6 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, he took the starting QB duties from franchise legend Eli Manning. Jones threw 24 touchdowns, which is still a career high for him.

He spent the next couple of seasons struggling with injuries and inconsistencies. In the 2022 offseason, the Giants hired head coach Brian Daboll. Daboll’s offensive system had more motion than the previous systems Jones had played in. More motion allowed for receivers to get better looks, maximizing Jones’ throws. Although Jones didn’t put up big numbers, he had a career-low five interceptions.

However, the injury problems returned in 2023 and 2024. This led to Jones ‘ release. Although the Vikings signed him in 2024, he did not play in a game for them.

The Colts hoped that playing behind their elite offensive line could help Jones. Before his Achilles injury, it seemed like they were right.

NFL training camps begin in July. This will be a key step in Jones’ recovery from the Achilles injury. He is expected to fully participate in training camp.

Daniel Jones resurgent 2025 season with the Indianapolis Colts ended in the harshest way possible: a torn right Achilles in Sunday’s 36–19 loss to the Jaguars. The 28-year-old, who’d signed a one-year, $14 million deal. He threw for just over 3,100 yards with 19 touchdowns against 8 interceptions while even playing through a fractured fibula.

Now everything gets messy. Standard recovery timelines for an Achilles rupture run roughly 6–12 months, and even with modern procedures, players often need a full year before they truly look like themselves again.

For the Colts, it’s brutal déjà vu. Since Andrew Luck retired, they’ve cycled through a parade of short-term answers at quarterback, hoping Jones might finally stabilize the position. Instead, they’re back in the same cycle and they don’t even have an obvious long-term fix, with Anthony Richardson battling his own durability questions and rookie Riley Leonard pushed into action sooner than planned.

Jones’ market is just as uncertain. Kirk Cousins landed a four-year, $180 million deal with $100 million guaranteed from Atlanta only months after his own Achilles tear. But that contract is already being framed as a cautionary tale, tying up cap space for a team still unsure what will happen post-injury.

So instead of negotiating security and term, Jones and the Colts are staring at risk management: short deals, heavy protections, and contingency plans. What once looked like a clean solution at the game’s most important position has turned into yet another offseason question mark in Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Colts suffered their third defeat in four games on Sunday, losing 20-16 to the Houston Texans, dropping three places in the AFC standings.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported last week that quarterback Daniel Jones is currently battling through a fractured fibula injury. He completed 51.9% of his passing attempts during the loss amid Houston’s aggressive rush.

The loss puts the Colts, who began the season 7-1 and now have an 8-4 record and no longer lead the AFC South, with five games remaining.

Jones said he felt fine on the field despite the reported injury.

“[It] felt good today,” he said after Sunday’s game. “I think it’ll continue to improve week to week.”

The team’s offense scored 16 points against the Texans, its lowest total of the season. Before Sunday, the Colts scored 20 or more points in every match, with 30 or more seven times.

With Jones seemingly not fully fit, Indianapolis will host division leaders, the Jacksonville Jaguars, next Sunday. A win would push either side as the sole leader as the final stretch of the season begins.

“Putting your head down and going back to work,” Jones said on how the team can escape its current skid. “And making sure that I’m doing everything I need to do to put the team in a position to win games.”

On November 9, the Indianapolis Colts played against the Atlanta Falcons, when quarterback Daniel Jones had blood pouring from his mouth during the game.

The Colts played in Germany on Sunday morning, but they gave everything on the field.

This was the case for Jones, whose face the TV cameras captured in a close-up, with his mouth full of blood.

Jones’ injury left fans with serious concern, but that quickly dissolved into high praise after leading the Colts to a victory.

The Colts won 31-25, leaving them with an 8-2 record, having won eight games and lost two.

A fan posted on Twitter saying, “That clutch tie-up shows real grit – playing through a bloody lip like that. Solid effort!”

During the post-game press conference, there was no visible injury to his face.

Jones finished the game with 19 completions out of 26 attempts and gained 255 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He was sacked seven times with three fumbles.

In the days since the game, the image has been turned into a meme representing the determination of an athlete against the odds.

The next game for the Colts will be on November 23 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

2024 was an eventful year for quarterback Daniel Jones. He returned from a torn ACL, went 2-8 for the New York Giants, was benched, and then was released by request. Following a stint on the Minnesota Vikings practice squad, Jones is now signing a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts, where he’ll back up Anthony Richardson. Or will he?

It was only two years ago that Jones led a Giants team to a playoff berth and then a round one upset over the Vikings. In 2022, he threw for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns with five interceptions, posting a passer rating of 92.5. While those stats took a nosedive in the 2023 season even before his injury, with just two touchdowns and six interceptions in six games, the Colts will be looking to maximize Jones’ proven upside.

As far as the quarterback room Jones will be joining, Richardson didn’t have the most productive 2024. His completion percentage was just 47.7%, a little lower than his career completion percentage of 50.6%. He’s shown moments of dazzling athletic upside, and he’s only played 15 games in the NFL so far. Still, Richardson’s eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions weren’t the bright spot of this Colts team (which finished only a couple wins out of a playoff spot), to put it lightly.

Jones’ entrance helps set up what general manager Chris Ballard described as an “open competition” at the quarterback position. Ballard added that as Richardson “continues to progress in his young career, us adding competition, I think, will help up everybody’s game.”

Considering Richardson’s lack of experience, Jones will likely serve as a steadier backup as the Colts attempt to turn Richardson into a starting-caliber quarterback. Both have high demonstrated upsides. Unfortunately, as the past season has shown, both also have very low floors.

If the Colts hope to contend this year, they’ll be betting on a sudden change of pace from either quarterback but Richardson, who’s five years younger, will almost certainly be getting more runway.

Daniel Jones started the season as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants in the second year of a four-year, $160 million contract. The Giants benched and then cut him after a thoroughly underwhelming 2-8 start. Soon after, the Minnesota Vikings signed him to their practice squad.

A month later, before their biggest game of the season, they were considering moving him up the depth chart.

The Vikings played the Detroit Lions in Week 18, continuing a divisional rivalry with both teams sitting at an unprecedented 14-2. The Lions handed the Vikings their first loss of the season back in October by just two points. The winner, the Lions, got the NFC first seed and a bye week; the Vikings are relegated to the fifth seed.

While Sam Darnold remains the undisputed starting quarterback, the lineup behind him is less certain. Nick Mullens backs him up, while Brett Rypien is currently the third-string.

Mullens has the advantage in experience, having spent the last three years in Minnesota under head coach Kevin O’Connell. It is arguable, though, that Jones has more raw talent, and O’Connell certainly seems to believe that he has more to give than he’s shown this season.

“We’re gonna have some dialogue about that as far as the timing of it,” O’Connell told reporters last week. “Daniel has been quietly behind the scenes putting in some phenomenal work.”

“I’m probably more excited — as I told him the other day — more excited now than even as excited as I was to get him in here day one, just by what he’s shown us already. So that’s definitely something we’re gonna talk about. I feel so fortunate to have, with [J.J. McCarthy] really back full speed in those meetings. I mean, you walk in there, you got five NFL quarterbacks sitting there.”

Given the Vikings’ logjam at quarterback, particularly between Darnold and first-rounder JJ McCarthy, who has been sidelined this season with a torn meniscus, it seems unlikely that Jones will stay with the team. His camp and Minnesota, though, reportedly have “mutual interest,” and promoting Jones should positively impact whether he stays or leaves.

Specifically, adding Jones to the active roster could have set Minnesota up for a compensatory pick if he signs with another team in the offseason. Since they’re not anticipating backup quarterback usage, regardless of Jones’ talent, the move should be a no-brainer.

However, after the loss to the Lions, O’Connell did not move to elevate Jones. Go figure.

The Minnesota Vikings signed quarterback Daniel Jones on Wednesday. Jones was released by the New York Giants on Nov. 22 after nearly six seasons as the team’s struggling starter.

Taken with the sixth-overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, Jones was supposed to be the franchise quarterback for a Giants team looking to replace two-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning. At times, he showed decent ability and even led the team to a playoff victory in 2022.

In 2023, he signed a four-year, $160 million extension with the team, having restored hope in the team’s future the previous season. He sustained a string of injuries soon after, however, and piloted the team to a 2-8 record in 2024. After getting benched for Tommy DeVito, Jones requested his release and appeared to leave the Giants on friendly terms.

“Daniel came to see me this morning and asked if we would release him,” Giants President John Mara said in a statement after the release. “We mutually agreed that would be best for him and for the team. Daniel has been a great representative of our organization, first class in every way. His handling of this situation yesterday exemplifies just that. We are all disappointed in how things have worked out. We hold Daniel in high regard and have a great appreciation for him. We wish him nothing but the best in the future.”

Shortly before his Giants release, Jones read a letter at a press conference reflecting on his time with the team. In it, he summarized his career in New York, one that had its bright moments overshadowed by long stretches of adversity.

“There have been some great times, but of course, we all wish there had been more of those,” Jones said. “I take full responsibility for my part in not bringing more wins. No one wanted to win more games worse than me, and I gave everything I had on the field and in my preparation. Of course, this season has been disappointing for all, and of course, I wish I could’ve done more. I’m 100% accountable for my part. I did not play well enough, consistently enough, to help the team get the results.”

Because of his previous success and reputation as a positive team player, Jones was always going to land on another team. Some speculated that he might end up on the Cowboys, predicting that owner Jerry Jones would sign him out of spite. In the end, the Vikings made the far more reasonable move. Jones will be a serviceable backup behind Sam Darnold and could even remain with the team when J.J. McCarthy returns from injury next season.

Quarterback Daniel Jones has had to field multiple questions about negative Giants fans last week. He claimed to be blocking out the noise.

“I feel like I’ve been doubted plenty for a long time and dealt with that time and time again. And done a good job with it,” Jones said, according to ESPN. “I think my mental toughness is in a good spot. I’m not concerned about that.”

On Thursday, he addressed the noise again.

“Fans, you know they’re upset and frustrated and we’re frustrated too,” Jones said. “So I understand that. I’m not easily offended. I understand how it works and know I’ve gotta play better. We’ve all gotta play better.”

Regardless of what Jones says about the current state of the Giants and their fanbase, it’s undeniable that the quarterback is facing a great deal of pressure.

Returning from an injury-riddled 2023 season, Jones returned last weekend and delivered a highly disappointing performance. Facing off against a depleted Minnesota Vikings team, Jones completed 22 of 42 passes for 186 yards without a score. New York lost 28-6.

As if losing to oft-maligned former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold in MetLife Stadium wasn’t bad enough, Jones’ dud came on the same weekend as running back Saquon Barkley’s resurgent three-touchdown debut for the Eagles. Last year, the Giants’ front office gave Jones a four-year, $160 million contract and later elected to let Barkley walk.

Though the Giants made the playoffs in 2022 and even won a playoff game against the Vikings, Jones has never had more than a few moments which he has proven capable as a franchise quarterback in the NFL. It’s easy to forget that this will be his sixth season. Nevertheless, the Giants have bought in, and must now try to build a roster around Jones.

Taking wide receiver Malik Nabers in the first round of the 2024 draft was a clear step in this process. The Giants are not without young talent. But with Jones at the helm and struggling, the road ahead seems long and could very well prove to be another dead end for the franchise.

Giants’ quarterback Daniel Jones made clear that he’s available for week one’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Giants’ quarterback was seen Thursday partaking in individual and 7-on-7 drills and practicing without wearing a knee brace.

“It feels good. But just getting back into the swing of things and playing football against guys moving around, I thought it was good,” he said.

Jones expressed his confidence in returning to the practice field. He was present during OTAs and hopes to be fully activated by late July.

During the Giants’ matchup versus the Las Vegas Raiders last season, Jones tore his ACL, sidelining him for the remainder of the season.

The Giants considered replacing Jones during the offseason and rumors flew that they considered trading up to the third spot to take UNC’s Drake Maye. However, that didn’t occur, as the Giants took LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Jones wasn’t a fan of the Giants’ moves. “Yeah, I wasn’t fired up about it,” he said. “I don’t think you can take anything personally at this level. How it happened and what happened, I’m not sure I know. I’m focused on playing great football.”

2024’s campaign will mark Jones’ sixth season in the NFL – a make-or-break year for the 26-year-old. This season, the Giants’ quarterback will attempt to prove himself as he struggled in the six games he started in 2023. Jones threw two touchdowns and six interceptions in that span. The Giants acquired Drew Lock via free agency to provide Jones with competition for the starting job.

Head Coach Brian Daboll commented, “He looks good. We’re not putting him in some team stuff, but he’s making progress, so that’s why we got him in 7-on-7.”

Jones remains optimistic regarding an early return. “The goal was to be ready by the first day of training camp, but I’m going to push to be ready soon,” he added. “I have faith in our trainers and coaches.”

The New York Giants signed wide receiver Allen Robinson on Wednesday, adding yet another player to an already-crowded depth chart at the position. The 30-year-old is coming off a poor season and was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers in early March.

Details of Robinson’s contract are still unknown, but due to the team’s tight cap space, the team is likely taking a short-term flier on the receiver in the hopes of a career revival. In 2023, Robinson caught 34 passes for 280 yards without a touchdown.

Though the Giants have a slew of receivers at their disposal, the team still lacks star power at the position. 2024 sixth-overall pick Malik Nabers is expected to be a key contributor for years to come. Still, beyond him, the team will primarily rely on the likes of Darius SlaytonWan’Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt.

Slayton, the team’s leading receiver last year, is holding out while he negotiates for a better contract. He had just 50 receptions for 770 yards and four touchdowns last year, as the Giants ranked near the bottom in nearly every offensive statistical category.

When Daniel Jones manages to return from the ACL injury he sustained last year, many of the team’s current problems at receiver may seem overblown. Jones is still questionable about being ready to go by Week 1 but said he is trying hard to make himself available.

“I’m going to focus on my rehab and making sure I’m doing everything I need to do there to get back healthy and get back on the field and then working on what I can do to improve,” Jones said in January.

The Giants made the playoffs in 2022 with a similar roster, but there are far more questions going into 2024. In addition to Jones’ injury, it is also unclear how running back Saquon Barkley’s departure will affect the offense.

The New York Giants will start quarterback Tyrod Taylor in Week 17 against the Los Angeles Rams. Tommy DeVito, who stepped in to replace an injured Taylor in Week 8, will return to a backup role.

Taylor replaced Devito in the second half of the Giants’ game last weekend and nearly led the team to a comeback win over the Eagles. Though New York still lost 33-25, head coach Brian Daboll said that Taylor deserved the starting position going forward.

“He earned the right to start this game,” Daboll said. “Let’s get ready for the Rams, really have nothing else to add on it. That’s where we’re at.”

Taylor and Devito may be exchanging the starting role for now, but the Giants’ problems at quarterback extend far beyond a few meaningless regular season games in 2023. Both passers began the year as backups to Daniel Jones, who has suffered two separate injuries and missed most of the season.

With a 5-10 record, the team is currently in contention for a choice draft pick in 2023 and could try to find a new franchise player under center. Faith in Jones has waned since the team’s improbable playoff run last season, which could be the deciding factor as New York considers another rebuild.

But as the Giants limp through a losing 2023 season, in which they were consistently hampered by injuries, it is clear that the team is more than a quarterback away from consistent success.

Star running back Saquon Barkley will depart for free agency in 2024 and the team’s pass catchers beyond tight end Darren Waller are relatively uninspiring. The offensive line has also underperformed and could take partial blame for multiple injuries at the quarterback position.

Multiple Giants games this season have been touted as excruciating defensive battles ahead of time, and the team has repeatedly lived up to that billing. Games against the Jets and Patriots, teams with their own issues on offense, were particularly poor.

2023 may be a year to forget as Taylor looks to end it as respectably as possible under center, but the path forward for New York from here remains unclear.

Devito has won the hearts of New Yorkers with stories of living at home, where his mom makes his bed every day.

New York Giants quarterback Tommy Devito will start under center in Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys. The third-string quarterback has filled in for Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor for the past two weeks, putting up exceptionally poor numbers in both New York losses.

In Devito’s first appearance this season against the Jets following Taylor’s injury, coaches were so scared about his throwing ability that they almost exclusively ran the ball in the second half. He attempted just seven throws, completing two for -1 yards. The Giants lost the dreadful game 13-10 in overtime.

The following week against the Raiders, the Giants thought that usual starter Jones was back for good until he went down again on the first play of the second quarter. Devito came back in, and though the team was more liberal in the passing game, he still completed 15 of 20 attempts for 175 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. The Raiders won 30-6.

“I think it’s a shock to everybody. Not to have one quarterback but two quarterbacks go down, I mean it’s tough,” DeVito said Wednesday. “The quarterback position runs the team, and to have one and two go down like that, you would’ve never guessed that to happen.”

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that there were talks of signing a veteran to take over the quarterback position, but coaches agreed that Devito was the best option because of his experience with the team. Journeyman backup Matt Barkley will be Devito’s backup.

Devito, a New Jersey native, has proven popular with fans during his stint with the team. During the game against the Jets, the crowd at MetLife Stadium was audibly frustrated with the coaching staff for not allowing him to throw. That being said, the undrafted rookie has not yet come close to proving that he can compete at this level.

If he starts as planned on Sunday, Devito will be the 10th rookie quarterback to start in 2023, the most in a single season in NFL history.

New York Giants coach Brian Daboll has confirmed quarterback Daniel Jones has suffered an ACL injury in their game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

With the injury, Jones will miss the rest of the season.

“He’s worked really hard to get back, and it’s unfortunate,” Daboll said.

Jones’ injury occurred in the second quarter when Jones dropped back for a pass and his right knee looked to have buckled under him while going down awkwardly and immediately grabbed his right knee.

He was then ruled out for the rest of the game and replaced by Tommy DeVito

Before leaving the game, he went four for nine on passing for 25 yards.

“He felt like he buckled,” Daboll said of the injury. “Then he was running it off. We went over to him, we talked to him, he said, ‘I’m good.’ Then he went back in and obviously wasn’t.”

DeVito finished the game with 175 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

The Giants ended up losing 6-30 to the Las Vegas Raiders. They currently sit in last place in the NFC East and face the Dallas Cowboys on November 12.

The New York Giants are optimistic that starting quarterback Daniel Jones will play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday after he left the Dolphins game with a neck injury.

Jones was hurt in the fourth quarter when he was sacked for the sixth time. He was taken off for the rest of the game after feeling some pain. Jones had X-rays after the game and is due for an additional test on Monday. However, according to Giants Coach Brian Daboll said the team is feeling positive about the injury.

“I’d say we’re optimistic,” he said. “He’s feeling better [Monday]. So, I think he’s moving in the right direction. See where he is, obviously, when he comes back on Wednesday.”

Despite this, Daboll noted that he still needed to speak with the professionals. The Giants, who are 1-4, play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

The Giants are also dealing with injuries from running back Saquon Barkley and left tackle Andrew Thomas. Their statuses are “yet to be determined” against the Bills. Jones has been sacked 16 times in the past two games. This isn’t the first time Jones has had a neck injury, as he missed the final six games of the 2021 season due to one.

The NFL is reportedly considering disciplinary action against Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams after the star defender screamed at a doctor on the sideline while he was being evaluated for a concussion. Adams was making his first start after a season-ending injury in 2022 but had to exit the game early. He is now in concussion protocol.

Adams apologized on Twitter after the incident, thanking the doctor for assisting him despite his outburst.

“First and foremost, I want to apologize to the OG. You did everything right when you realized I was concussed, I apologize for any negative energy I brought your way,” Adams said. “Watching the replay, I am thankful for your patience knowing I wasn’t myself in that moment. You’re a real one and you serve a great purpose that benefits the NFL and so many players. Prioritizing player’s health is essential. Much respect to you!”

Though Adams apologized for his actions, the league could still punish him for berating medical personnel, who he also seemed to threaten to the point that he had to be held back on the sidelines. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the league was considering serving Adams with a fine, though opponents to this measure argue that Adams was not in a sound state of mind. Some have even pointed at the NFL’s own classification of concussions, which specifically cites uncharacteristic aggression and agitation as key symptoms.

Adams last played for the Seahawks in Week 1 of the 2022 season, when he suffered a torn quad tendon that required surgery to repair. In the first quarter of his return game Monday night, he seemed to sustain the concussion while attempting to tackle Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Adams dove at Jones’ knees and hit him headfirst. He appeared disoriented after the play and was escorted off the field. Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said that he expects Adams to recover and plans to continue using him as a key part of the team’s defense going forward.

New York Giants offensive lineman Evan Neal apologized after delivering a rant to reporters in response to fans booing the team at MetLife Stadium last week. The Giants lost the primetime contest to the Seattle Seahawks 24-3.

“Why would a lion concern himself with the opinion of a sheep?” Neal said, according to NJ Advance Media. “The person that’s commenting on my performance, what does he do? Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere?”

Neal went on to say that he told fans that they should “boo louder” as he was walking off the field. He continued his rant after being asked to explain his response to fans.

“Because that just further shows that people are fair-weather,” Neal said. “A lot of fans are bandwagoners. I mean, I get it: They want to see us perform well. And I respect all of that. But no one wants us to perform well more than we do … And how can you say you’re really a fan when we’re out there battling our asses off – and the game wasn’t going well – but the best you can do is boo your home team? So how much of a fan are you, really?”

In his apology Thursday, Neal backtracked on many of his original comments, claiming that he was frustrated by the team’s loss and took it out on fans. He also admitted that the offensive line had to improve.

“I am wrong for lashing out at the fans who are just as passionate and frustrated as I am,” Neal said in a statement posted on Twitter. “I let my frustrations in my play + desire to win get the best of me. I had no right to make light of anyone’s job and I deeply regret the things I said. We are working day in and day out to grow as a team and this was an unnecessary distraction. I apologize.”

In four games, Neal has allowed 25 quarterback hurries, one of many factors negatively impacting quarterback Daniel Jones’ play. The team is 1-3 and faces the Dolphins and Bills in Weeks 5 and 6.

The New York Giants have a big decision to make on its quarterback as he may not be worth the money is asking for.

Daniel Jones is seeking up to $45 million per year in a new contract or maybe even more, reports ProFootballTalk.

Additionally, the North Carolina native has switched agents from Creative Artists Agency LLC to Athletes First.

It’s unclear what the Giants are offering, but if it’s not in his ballpark then it will lead to a likely franchise tag, which would cost a little more than $32 million.

Applying the tag buys them time – but it’s only temporary.

And after that things could get interesting.

For one, Jones could decide to hold out not and play until he gets traded or the Giants make him an offer that he finds acceptable.

Another option is he could play through it but the team would be in the same situation as next year to decide.

Another viable is to trade him to a team willing to pay him if the Giants aren’t.

The package would probably include multiple first-round picks and more.

But if the Giants do that what is the alternative?

Sign a veteran quarterback like Jimmy Garoppolo or Ryan Tannehill and be maybe a playoff team? Not really ideal.

The best option might be to come up with some kind of short-term contract agreement if they aren’t comfortable with going long-term.

Jones last season threw for more than 3,200 yards and 15 touchdown passes along with 708 yards rushing.

Those are respectable numbers but just not exactly worth $45 million a year.

The question is can both sides find common ground as the negotiations continue?

We know that Jones’ franchise tag would cost around $32 million in 2023 and if the Giants decide to do it again next year it would cost roughly $38.89 million after a 20 percent raise kicks in.

Perhaps a two to a three-year deal worth $35 million would be enough for both sides.

If not the Giants are probably the-suited franchise tagging him and seeing how he performs next year.

But Jones is an ideal fit for Brian Daboll’s spread offense and it’s worth seeing how well the 25-year-old can run it for at least another year.

Mike Kafka was a big part of what fueled the New York Giants turnaround last season – and now he’s a finalist for the Arizona Cardinals head coaching job.

The 35-year-old reportedly is interviewing with the Cardinals for a second time today.

While it’s unclear if Kafka will wind up being the guy it hires – there’s clearly some serious interest.

The Cardinals will also interview Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo for its vacant head coaching job this week, according to reports.

After last a disappointing 2022 season, the Cardinals fired Kliff Kingsbury.

The team finished with just four wins after going 11-6 the year before.

But hiring Kafka could be big for the offense and quarterback Kyler Murray.

The offensive-minded coach was key in helping develop the league’s best Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.

He served as the Chief’s quarterback coach and passing game coordinator.

Then eventually, Kafka joined Brian Daboll’s staff with the Giants as offensive coordinator for the 2022 season.

And he proved that his work with Mahomes wasn’t a fluke, as he took the Giants near dead-last offense in 2021 to 18th in total yards.

The play of quarterback Daniel Jones improved significantly despite the lack of wide receiver talent around him.

Jones threw for more than 3,200 yards with 15 touchdown passes compared to just 2,428 and 10 the year before.

Kafka also turned him into more of a running quarterback, as he had more than 700 yards rushing last year compared with only 298 the previous season.

While Kafka would be missed with the Giants, the fan base has to trust Daboll to find the right replacement.

Daboll would likely want someone similar who runs the spread offense.

But of course, we’ll have to see if Jones returns and if the Giants can improve the offense around him.

SNY’s Connor Hughes reports that Jones is worth between $35 and $37 million.

If the Giants can’t reach a deal in the near future, it will likely place the franchise tag on him, which would reportedly pay Jones more than $32 million in 2023.

It remains to be seen if Jones can continue to improve after having a breakout season in his 2022 campaign.

Also, the Giants are in danger of losing defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.

He is reportedly one of the frontrunners for the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job.

During the Thursday Night Football game between the New York Giants and the Washington Football Team, cameras caught wide receiver Kenny Golladay appearing to have a few choice words for his quarterback Daniel Jones.

Questions quickly arose over whether Golladay’s outburst was due to the lack of looks his way. The former Lions receiver finished the game with just three receptions for 38 yards.

After the game, Jones attributed the emotions to Golladay’s competitive spirit, “I’ll say again: He wasn’t showing me up individually,” he asserted. “So, part of the game. Like I said, he’s emotional, wants to win. We all do. I respect that.”

However, Golladay clarified that his comments were actually intended for Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garett, rather than Jones.

“It was me just talking to JG [Jason Garett] a little bit. That’s two competitive guys right there. More so, just me wanting to do anything I can. Not so much, ‘Give me the ball,’ though.”

On March 20, the fifth-year wideout signed a four-year, $72 million contract with Big Blue.

Hopefully, Golladay can harness this energy and help lead the Giants to their first victory of the season, as his squad is currently 0-2 following the heartbreaking loss against Washington.

The New York Giants continue to build in their post-Eli Manning era. Last season, the Giants exceeded expectations in their first full season without Manning on the roster. The team was very close to winning the division and making the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Head coach Joe Judge will look to continue the Giants’ improvement and perhaps qualify for the playoffs this upcoming season. The team also has taken massive strides on the defensive side of the ball. New York had one of the best defenses in the league last season.

The Giants will expect third-year quarterback Daniel Jones to improve this season. To help out Jones, the team signed Pro Bowl wide receiver Kenny Golladay. Golladay and Jones both have good chemistry so far in practice. New York also added rookie wideout Kadarius Toney in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft to help Jones. Jones has no excuses now. It’s time to put up or shut up.

NFC East: The division was competitive in 2020 for three teams: the Giants, Washington and Dallas. New York was very close to winning the division but came up just short. This coming season, the team will be able to compete and have a chance to win it this time. The Giants should dominate the Eagles, but their matchups with Washington and Dallas will be difficult.

Matchups: The Giants will have key games against Washington, who won the division last season. If the team wants to win the division crown, then beating Washington is on the top of their list. New York will also have tough games when they face off with the Chiefs, Rams and Buccaneers. New York also has some easier games on the schedule such as matchups with Atlanta, Philadelphia, Denver and Carolina.

Overall: The Giants are desperately looking to make the playoffs. The team added Golladay to form an offensive duo with Jones. Jones is expected to improve in his third NFL season. The Giants can finish anywhere between first and last place in the division. They are a somewhat inconsistent football team. The offense will need to improve dramatically if they want to compete.

Prediction: The Giants will finish with a 9-8 record.
