The prodigy son is back! Carolina Panther’s Cam Newton scored two touchdowns in his first two plays in the team against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

“No disrespect to them,” Newton said. “But I’m just floating at an all-time high frequency. It’s almost scary.”

Newton brought much-needed energy to a Panthers team that had lost five of its past six games and faced long odds against the Cardinals, who entered the day with an NFL-best 8-1 record.

He scored on a two-yard run around the right side less than four minutes into the game, lunging through linebacker Isaiah Simmons and into the end zone. He followed with a two-yard touchdown pass to Robby Anderson on his second play, which the two had worked on for the first time Friday.

“We worked on that a couple of times to get the timing of it down,” Anderson said. “We knew it was going to be there.”

Newton finished with 8 yards passing and 14 yards rushing. Those aren’t the numbers that made him the NFL MVP in 2015, but they were a good beginning considering Newton spent only three days on the playbook. These two scoring plays came in the same stadium where Newton made his NFL debut in 2011 after Carolina drafted him first overall out of Auburn.

“I was reading about Moses, and God spoke to Moses in the desert,” Newton said. “And where are we at?”

Running back Christian McCaffrey said Newton brings energy like nobody he’s ever known. Walker said he felt it, too.

“Just him being himself, him bringing the juice and energy he brings, it helps this team a lot,” he said. “It helps us all relax, be comfortable to play great football.”

Coach Matt Rhule wouldn’t say for sure that Newton would start, but added: “We brought him here to play.”

Newton made sure to remind everyone that he was grateful for the opportunity: “I’ll put it like this: This time last week I was eating a bowl of cereal,” he said. “That puts things in perspective.”

The Houston Astros have, once again, kept their dreams of becoming the World Series champions alive after beating the Atlanta Braves 9-5 on Sunday.

The Braves would have achieved the title with a victory in front of their home fans; however, a new batting order from the Astros caught them off guard and lost them their series-winning victory.

Astros manager Dusty Baker decided to switch things up paid off as shortstop Carlos Correa, bumped up to third in the batting order, came through with three hits and a pair of RBIs. And Yuli Gurriel, who moved up to fifth after hitting seventh in Game 4, had three hits of his own and scored two runs.

“We don’t worry about what other people say or what they think. It’s what you think of yourself and what you think of each other on the team that really counts,” Baker said. “These guys are together, they’ve been through many of these battles and so they don’t know how to quit and they are always looking for an edge or an opening. Fortunately, tonight we took advantage of some.”

The Braves, seeking their first championship since 1995, opened the scoring in explosive fashion with Adam Duvall hitting a grand slam in the first inning; however, the Astros quietly chipped away, ultimately drawing even at 4-4 after a Gurriel groundout in the top of the 3rd.

The Astros then added an insurance run in the seventh with catcher Martin Maldonado‘s third RBI of the night, and one more in the eighth with Correa’s single which plated second baseman Jose Altuve.

“You always love to do it here. I’ll take it anywhere,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said. “I don’t care where we’re at. If we win the World Series, it doesn’t matter where it is. I’d have loved to have done it in front of our fans. Hopefully, we can do it the next couple of days.”

With game six on their home stadium, the Astros will try to become the 15th team in MLB history to beat a 3-1 deficit and still win the best-of-seven postseason series.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - JUNE 21: Cody Bellinger #35 of the Los Angeles Dodgers reacts to his solo homerun, to take a 2-1 lead over the Colorado Rockies, during the fourth inning at Dodger Stadium on June 21, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

On Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers were within five outs of going down 0-3 to the Atlanta Braves in the best-of-seven of the NLCS. The game seemed lost as the Dodgers were about to fall into the abyss known as a 3-0 series deficit.

Then out of a sudden, in the eighth inning, Cody Bellinger gave new life to the Dodgers’ season with a three-run homer against Luke Jackson that tied the game 5-5. One out later, Mookie Betts doubled home Chris Taylor to give the Dodgers a 6-5 lead that would stand as the final score of the game.

“In the moment, it’s loud and you don’t really hear anything and you don’t really see anything,” Bellinger said. “Rounding second, I saw the boys in the dugout giving me the celebration, so I had to do it back. Just pure joy and just glad I could tie up the game right there to give us a chance.”

Bellinger’s series-altering three-run homer came on a 96-mph fastball that was well above the zone.  Instead of taking the pitch for ball two, Bellinger sent it flying 399 feet to right-center, and in doing so, he erased a 5-2 deficit with one swing.

“We were dead in the water,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

After Taylor singled and stole second against Jesse Chavez, Betts delivered the knockout punch with a shot into the right-center gap. Taylor’s stolen base became a larger problem for the Braves as the ensuing batter, Matt Beaty, hit a grounder that could have otherwise been an inning-ending double play.

“That stolen base right there is huge,” Betts said. “It got other guys up to the plate and gave us two more chances instead of one.”

The Dodgers have an outstanding record of 13 for 13 in stolen bases this postseason ─ no other team has more than seven steals this October ─ and they’re the first team with multiple stolen bases in four straight postseason games since the 1995 Mariners.

Even though game three was an ugly loss for the Braves, they still have a 2-1 series lead against the Dodgers. Historically, teams with a 2-1 lead in a best-of-seven have gone on to win the series 70 percent of the time. The odds are still in the Braves’ favor; however, if Tuesday’s game is indicative of something it’s that the Dodgers still have some fight in them.

The next two games will be played in Dodger Stadium, and the Braves have lost 11 of their last 12 games in Chavez Ravine.

Daniel Bryan to make return to WWE

Daniel Bryan is making a WWE comeback nearly three years after his final match.

Daniel Bryan WWE return news

The 36-year-old former World Heavyweight champion was cleared to return to the ring. Bryan tweeted this announcement Tuesday afternoon:

Bryan sustained several concussions throughout his career as an active WWE superstar, which began when he was 18. He also reportedly suffered concussion-based seizures that he confessed to have hidden from wrestling officials. Bryan was told during experimental testing in early 2016 that he wouldn’t be cleared to compete again in a WWE ring.

In an interview with ESPN’s SportsCenter shortly after that, Bryan warned young athletes about the dangers of brain trauma and urged them to take precautions.

Bryan began undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments to reverse the effects of previous concussions.

The wrestler signed his first WWE developmental contract in 2000. After 18 months, he was released and began a run in the independents. He eventually re-signed with WWE in 2009, debuted as part of the reality-show version of NXT and ultimately made his “main roster” debut as part of The Nexus in June 2010. On that night, however, an incident involving the choking of ring announcer Justin Roberts with his own tie led to Bryan’s release four days later.

Bryan eventually took home three world titles and also fought in WrestleMania XXX before ultimately winning the WWE world heavyweight championship.

Approximately a year prior to his last competition, in May 2014, Bryan had surgery to fix a nerve located in his neck. He came back to fight ahead of the Royal Rumble in 2015.

Since 2016, Bryan has been the on-screen general manager for SmackDown Live.

Bryan’s famous chants of “Yes! Yes! Yes!” are still used today in many WWE competitions.

Stephon Marbury NBA Comeback News

However, the 40-year-old point guard announced on Instagram on Tuesday that the rumors of him returning to the league are true.

Since 2010, Marbury has been playing for several teams in the Chinese Basketball Association, including the Beijing Ducks and most recently the Beijing Fly Dragons.

“Yes, it’s true: an NBA comeback is coming. Love is love,” Marbury said in the Instagram video.

Marbury’s post comes as a surprise to many not only because of his age, but also because he recently said his upcoming season with the Fly Dragons would be the last of his career.

The guard — who also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns and then-New Jersey Nets — struggled in his last few seasons in the NBA. In his last campaign, when he was 31, he averaged just 3.8 points per game.

Vince Young is hoping to make a comeback career in the NFL.

Former Titans QB Vince Young Hopes To Return To Playing Football

The former Texas and Tennessee Titans quarterback has hired agent Leigh Steinberg to help him find a new team in the league.

Young, 33, hasn’t played in a regular season game since 2011, when he threw four touchdown passes and nine interceptions for the Philadelphia Eagles. The former first-round pick has since then spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns, but has never made it past the preseason.

Chosen as the third-overall pick in the 2006 draft by Tennessee, Young had his moments under center for the Titans. Compiling a 30-17 record, Young threw 42 touchdowns and 42 picks in Tennessee before later starting three games for the Eagles.

The QB announced his retirement from the NFL in 2014.

Off the field, Young pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 18 months of probation last month for a 2016 drunk driving arrest in Austin, Texas, according to The Associated Press. He currently works for the University of Texas promoting diversity and community engagement.

One team in the Canadian Football League, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, seem open to potentially giving Young an opportunity:

Time will surely soon tell where the former star ends up.

The Atlanta Falcons seemed like they were comfortably cruising toward their first Super Bowl victory.

The Game Marks The First Super Bowl To Ever Go To Overtime

However, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots said “Not so fast,” and made an incredible, 25-point comeback to secure their quarterback’s fifth national championship in overtime, marking the first time any NFL team has won the Super Bowl in the extra session.

First, Brady connected with Danny Amendola for a 6-yard touchdown pass, and then followed it up with a 2-point conversion to cut the Falcons’ lead to 28-20.

Then, Atlanta committed their first turnover of the game when Matt Ryan decided to aim for a deep pass on 3rd-and-1. Before the QB could throw the ball, he was blindsided by Dont’a Hightower, who tapped the ball just enough to knock it out of Ryan’s hands. Alan Branch recovered the ball, which put the Patriots just 25 yards away from a touchdown.

Brady needed only five plays, and was only sacked by Dwight Freeney for the rest of regulation.

Due to a sack by Trey Flowers and a holding call on Tom Compton, the Falcons did not even manage to get a field goal.

Ryan began his last drive at his own 10-yard line and quickly fond Devonta Freeman for a 39-yard catch-and-run that initially seemed like it could lead to a score. After a short run by Freeman, Ryan evaded pressure from New England’s defense and found wide receiver Julio Jones, who made an acrobatic 27-yard reception just inside the sideline by reaching over a defensive back to get the ball.

Following a spectacular 10-play, 91-yard Patriots drive in 2:33, which included a great catch by Julian Edelman, James White ran for a 1-yard touchdown, and Brady found Amendola for a successful 2-point conversion. Thus, New England tied the game 28-28 with less than a minute left.

The Pats won the toss and delivered an eight-play, 75-yard game-winning drive, which ended in a 2-yard TD run by White to seal the 34-28 victory.

Ryan, Jones–who played an amazing game– couldn’t help but stare blankly into space and hang their heads in frustration.

Ryan, however, did walk away with the title of the league’s MVP. The Associated Press gave the QB the award at Saturday night’s NFL Honors. Ryan earned 25 votes for the honor, while Brady finished second with 10 votes.

Brady was named the Super Bowl LI MVP.  According to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, the Patriots expect their quarterback, who is 39, to play another three to five years and could work on another contract extension as early as next offseason. Brady’s current deal runs through the 2019 season.

Nevada Wolf Pack Make 25-Point Comeback to Beat New Mexico Lobos 105-104 in OT

After three quarters of play during the Nevada Wolf Pack’s road game against the New Mexico Lobos Saturday night, nearly all hope seemed to be lost for the visitors.

Nevada Makes Historic 25-Point Comeback To Earn 105-104 OT Win Over New Mexico

Nevada won 105-104 in overtime despite trailing by 25 points with 11 minutes remaining in regulation, by 19 with four minutes left and by 14 with just over one minute to go.

Sophomore Jordan Caroline buried a go-ahead pull-up 3-pointer from the left wing with 2.9 seconds remaining in overtime to secure the Wolf Pack’s thrilling comeback victory. Caroline’s game winner gave Nevada its first lead since the first three minutes of the opening half.

“I’ve coached in college, in the NBA, internationally, and I’ve never seen anything like that,” Wolf Pack coach Eric Musselman said. “The biggest benefit of it is now our guys know that we can come back from any deficit. I’m 52, and it’s a lesson for me that anything is possible in sports.”

Musselman pulled leading scorer Marcus Marshall with a few minutes remaining, hoping to give the senior guard some extra rest rather than risk injury in a game that already seemed decided.

The coach’s view hadn’t changed as the Lobos’ Jalen Harris raced up-court with a 14-point lead and 70 seconds to play. Only after Caroline poked the ball away from behind and fed walk-on Charlie Tooley for a transition 3-pointer did Musselman think it was logical to put Marshall back in. Nevada scored five more 3s in the final minute, four of them from Marshall.

“He’s as good a late-game shot maker as I’ve ever been around including NBA players,” Musselman said. “He takes the shots where you go, ‘Oh no … Yes!’”

The 11-point deficit Nevada erased in under 60 seconds marked the second-largest last-minute comeback in college basketball history. Texas A&M set the record during the second round of the NCAA tournament last March when it exploded back from 12 points down to stun Northern Iowa.

The heroics of Marshall and Caroline kept Nevada (14-3, 3-1) within a game of first-place Boise State in the Mountain West standings.

Edge Returning To WWE For 900th Episode Of SmackDown

Fan-favorite wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Edge will reportedly join the episode with a special version of his ‘talk show,’ The Cutting Edge.

The event’s commissioner, Shane McMahon, made the announcement on Twitter Tuesday:

The 43-year-old Edge retired in 2011 following complications with a neck injury. However, he’s made periodic appearances outside the ring since then, while mostly working as an actor.

Cutting Edge was originally used as a way to keep Edge relevant as he recovered from a torn pectoral muscle. It evolved into a way to taunt Ric Flair into a match upon his return to the ring. The platform ultimately worked — except that Flair defeated Edge to retain the title — but the segment became popular among fans and has been brought back in several different ways.

Edge returned for the September 9, 2013 episode of Raw in his hometown of Toronto where he hosted The Cutting Edge with Daniel Bryan as his special guest.

In lesser appearances, Edge has made backstage showings with Seth Rollins, The New Day, and The Dudley Boyz.

Throughout his career, Edge was one of the most decorated wrestlers of all time. He won 31 championships in the WWE overall, including 14 tag team championships, 11 world championships, five Intercontinental Championships, and one United States Championship.

The Undertaker, born Mark William Calaway, made his last showing came at WrestleMania 32, where he defeated Shane McMahon in a Hell in a Cell match.

SmackDown will be held on Nov. 15 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. The venue announced the 51-year-old wrestler’s appearance on Twitter, and he appears as a featured star scheduled to appear on the official WWE ticket page. That episode will be the 900th episode of SmackDown.

The Undertaker has been seen walking around on crutches, reportedly from a hip surgery he recently underwent. He shocked fans by showing up at Battleground 2015 to reignite his feud with Brock Lesnar ahead of SummerSlam.

Justin LaBar of Upgruv is already looking toward WrestleMania 33:

WWE fans will undoubtedly be delighted to hear that the towering man is returning to the arena.
