The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants got caught in a benches-clearing brawl on Tuesday night after outfielder Yasiel Puig aggressively shoved catcher Nick Hundley.

Dodgers’ Yasiel Puig & Giants’ Nick Hundley Ejected

It started in the seventh inning when Puig hit a foul ball from Tony Watson, and Hundley proceeded to say something to the Dodgers outfielder. Puig then turned around and confronted the Giants catcher, and after a brief shoving and punching match both benches at Dodger Stadium cleared and an all-out fight began. Puig and Hundley were both ejected after officials intervened. Coaches like Dodgers first base coach George Lombard also jumped in to separate players.

“When I missed the pitch, I knew I thought it was the best pitch that Watson was gonna throw me,” Cuban-born Puig said through an interpreter, according to ESPN. “So I was a little upset, and [Hundley] told me to stop complaining, get back into the box. And when I got in his face, he told me to also get out of his face. So that’s when I got upset.

“I didn’t like that he was telling me what to do, and then he said some words to me in English that I really can’t repeat. So that is why I was upset.”

Hundley was less specific in explaining his side of the story behind what sparked the argument, saying simply, “We had some words and pushed a couple times. There’s really not more to it than that.”

San Francisco ultimately won 2-1 on Tuesday. Austin Barnes replaced 27-year-old Puig at bat after the ejections and struck out. Buster Posey stepped in for Hundley as catcher.

Puig now has four ejections in his five-year MLB career. The Giants and Dodgers will face off again in Los Angeles on Wednesday night for the finale of their three-game series. San Francisco also won on Monday.

The Dodgers (64-57) are third in the NL West, three games ahead of the fourth-place Giants (61-60). Los Angeles is two games behind division-leaders Arizona.

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees engaged in a benches-clearing brawl on Wednesday night, and catcher Christian Vazquez believes the feud may not yet be over.

Red Sox vs. Yankees Brawl

The massive fight began in the seventh inning of the Bombers’ 10-7 victory at Fenway Park. Boston reliever Joe Kelly nearly hit Yankees designated hitter Tyler Austin on one throw, then two pitches afterwards actually struck Austin in the back with a 97-mph toss. Austin screamed and furiously tossed his bat onto the field.

Austin started making his way to the mound, and Kelly signaled for him to keep approaching. Then, all hell broke loose as Austin pushed Kelly onto the ground, both benches emptied and even coaches became involved and attempted to help officials separate players.

Kelly left Austin with a bruised mouth after punching him several times and unsurprisingly, both players were ejected. Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge seemed to be among the least violent players in the fight. In fact, both sluggers appeared to try and create peace amid the chaos.

There had already been some tension brewing at Fenway Park before Kelly hit Austin. The Yankees designated hitter slid roughly into shortstop Brock Holt in the third inning while attempting to spit a double play. Austin was marked safe and Holt and the Red Sox were livid.

“He overslid,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora stated about Austin, “and his spikes were up.”

Austin’s spikes reportedly struck Holt in his calf region.

After the game, Vazquez said he expects the Yankees will seek further revenge for Kelly’s hit-by-pitch and the ensuing fight.

“You know that’s coming. They feel like us,” said the Red Sox catcher. “The clubhouse is our second home. It’s wanting to protect our home. So it will be something soon. If not this series maybe in New York.”

Stanton also said he predicts the feud will carry over in Thursday’s series finale.

Yankees manager Aaron Booneon the other hand, said he believes the feud between the two teams has been resolved and will not continue.

The Red Sox (9-2) and Yankees (6-6) will face off in Boston for the series finale Thursday at 7:10pm EST. The series is tied 1-1, after the Red Sox thrashed the Bombers 14-1 on Tuesday.

The brawl between Boston and New York wasn’t the only giant melee involving two MLB teams on Wednesday. The San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies also engaged in fisticuffs at Coors Field after Padres starter Luis Perdomo threw a fastball behind Nolan Arenado and the Rockies star charged the mound.

The benches cleared and five players including Perdomo and Arenado were ejected.

The United States U-19 men’s national team fell 3-1 to Bahrain on Monday, thus crashing out of the group stage of the 2016 COTIF Tournament in Valencia, Spain, following a massive, bench-clearing brawl that broke out between the two teams.

Huge Brawl Breaks Out In U.S. U-19s 3-1 Loss To Bahrain

The U.S. could have advanced to the semifinals after defeating Spain 1-0. Nevertheless, the Americans lost on Monday and in stoppage time, a Bahraini player tripped Pierre Da Silva, sending him to the ground. What happened next, however, really started the melee. As Da Sliva went down, an opposition player smashed the ball off his head. Da Silva’s teammates chased after the offending Bahraini, pushing him to the ground and falling over him. Unsurprisingly, his own teammates came to defend him, both benches cleared, and all hell broke loose.

The referees and coaches naturally attempted to break it up. Even Da Silva entered the brawl, despite having just taken a soccer ball to the face. Clearly, the 18-year-old Orlando City striker did not let the pain stop him from responding to the attack.

There has been no word on U.S. Soccer regarding any type of disciplinary action as of yet, although one can only assume federation President Sunil Gulati will be very disappointed with this type of behavior. Four players were sent off with red cards as a result of the fight.

Bahrain will now advance to the semifinals. The U.S., led by head coach Brad Friedel, is now eliminated after also losing to Venezuela but defeating Mauritania.
