Barkley was pulled over after he ran a stop sign. When the officer approached the vehicle, they smelled alcohol and conducted a series of field sobriety tests, which Barkley failed.

He was arrested shortly after he failed the sobriety tests. At the scene, Barkley refused to take a breathalyzer test, but a blood test later revealed that his blood alcohol content was .149, which is almost twice the legal limit in Arizona.

Barkley faced three charges: two DUI misdemeanors and one count of running a red light. He pleaded guilty to all three charges.

He was sentenced to five days in jail, which was later reduced to three days, over $2,000 in fines, and he was required to attend an alcohol-awareness program. Barkley was also required to have an ignition-interlock device installed in his vehicles.

Barkley is widely regarded as one of the greatest NBA players never to have won a championship ring. He played college basketball at Auburn University, where in his junior season, he won the SEC Player of the Year Award.

Barkley entered the 1984 NBA Draft, where he was selected No. 5 by the Philadelphia 76ers.

During his 16-year NBA career, Barkley was an 11-time All-Star and an 11-time All-NBA selection. During the 1992-93 season, Barkley took home the NBA MVP award.

Barkley retired in 2000, and he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.

Slice went 1-1 in the UFC, and after signing with Bellator, where he had two fights, winning one and the other ending in a no-contest.

On June 3, 2016, Slice was hospitalized and diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Three days later, on June 6, Slice passed away due to cardiac arrest.

On May 3, 2008, former NFL running back Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with boating while intoxicated (BWI) and resisting arrest.

Benson’s boat was stopped during a routine safety inspection. Authorities saw signs of intoxication, and Benson reportedly refused to put on a life jacket, and he refused to get off the boat to take a sobriety test.

Benson was forced to be removed from the boat, and officers had to use pepper spray during the incident. He was taken into custody and released on a $14,500 bond.

>50 MOST-INFAMOUS CELEBRITY MUGSHOTS SLIDESHOW & STORIES BEHIND THEM!

A grand jury didn’t indict Benson on his charges due to insufficient evidence.

Benson attended the University of Texas, where he was a standout running back. He won the Doak Walker Award in 2004, which is given to the best running back in the nation.

He entered the 2005 NFL Draft and was selected No. 4 by the Chicago Bears. Benson struggled with injuries in Chicago, and he eventually signed with the Cincinnati Bengals during the 2008 season.

Benson had a career resurgence with Cincinnati, where he was named to a Pro Bowl, All-Pro team, and he won a rushing title.

He signed with the Green Bay Packers after the 2011 season, but suffered a Lisfranc injury that ended his season, and he never played another snap in the NFL.

On August 17, 2019, Benson passed away in a motorcycle accident at 36 years old.

In 2004, he left the WWE to pursue a career in the NFL. Lesnar joined the Minnesota Vikings training camp and played the preseason with the team, but he was cut before the regular season.

On September 12, 2011, former MLB superstar Manny Ramirez was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

>50 MOST-INFAMOUS CELEBRITY MUGSHOTS SLIDESHOW & STORIES BEHIND THEM!

Ramirez’s wife called the police after an altercation occurred in which he slapped her in the face, which caused her to hit her head on a headboard. He was released one day after his arrest on a $2,500 bail, and the judge issued a no-contact order with his wife.

Ramirez pleaded not guilty, and the charges were eventually dropped because his wife was unwilling to cooperate with the prosecution.

Ramirez entered the 1991 MLB Draft, where the Cleveland Indians selected him No. 13 overall. He played eight seasons in Cleveland before signing with the Boston Red Sox in December 2000.

During Ramirez’s time in Boston, he helped the team win two World Series in 2004 and 2007. He won the World Series MVP for the 2004 championship.

In addition to two rings and one World Series MVP, Ramirez also made 12 All-Star games, won nine Silver Slugger awards, and hit over 30 home runs in 12 total seasons.

Ramirez’s stats suggest he should be in the Hall of Fame, but he will likely never be inducted because he failed multiple drug tests in his career related to performance-enhancing drugs.

On July 5, 2010, former NFL quarterback JaMarcus Russell was arrested and charged with illegal drug possession.

Russell had possession of codeine syrup, which was discovered in a two-month undercover narcotics investigation. He was released shortly after he was arrested and booked on a $2,500 bond.

>50 MOST INFAMOUS SPORTS MUGSHOTS & THE STORIES BEHIND THEM!

Russell pleaded not guilty to his charge. One big selling point for Russell’s attorney was that around 10 others were at the home when the codeine syrup was discovered.

A grand jury declined to indict Russell, which resulted in his charge getting dropped.

Russell attended Louisiana State University, where he won the Manning Award in 2006, was a First-Team All-SEC selection, and was the MVP of the Sugar Bowl in 2006. He also won a National Championship in 2003, but he redshirted that season.

He entered the 2007 NFL Draft and was selected first overall by the Oakland Raiders. Russell only played three seasons in the NFL due to poor efficiency, work ethic concerns and weight issues.

One well-known incident from his career was when the Raiders’ coaching staff didn’t believe Russell was watching film, so they gave him a blank DVD as a test. He told the coaching staff that he watched the film they provided, which was impossible.

Oakland eventually lost trust in Russell, which led to his release in May 2010.

On November 5, 1999, former NBA star Dennis Rodman was arrested and charged with simple battery.

Rodman was at the Bentley Hotel in Miami when people reported screaming and arguing from his hotel room. Police found Rodman with scratches on his arm and a ripped shirt, and his ex-wife, Carmen Electra, was also in the room with a cut on her lip and foot, along with multiple bruises.

>SLIDESHOW: MOST INFAMOUS SPORTS MUGSHOTS & THE STORIES BEHIND THEM!

Both Rodman and Electra were arrested and charged with simple battery. The charges were later dropped because neither party wanted to pursue the case, and there was insufficient evidence to further the prosecution.

During Rodman’s collegiate career, he initially attended Cooke County College before transferring to Southeastern Oklahoma State University due to academic reasons.

Despite playing at the NAIA level, Rodman was dominant, which prompted him to enter the 1986 NBA Draft, where he was selected No. 27 by the Detroit Pistons.

Rodman played 14 seasons in the NBA, where he won five championships, two NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards, and was an eight-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection. He was also a two-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA Third Team selection.

In the NBA, Rodman was renowned for his exceptional rebounding ability. He led the league in rebounding for seven consecutive seasons from 1992 to 1998.

Rodman retired during the 1999-2000 season to pursue other interests. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011.

In May 2005, former MLB MVP Josh Hamilton was arrested and charged with misdemeanor property damage after he smashed his friend’s windshield on his truck.

Hamilton never went to trial for the incident, but the Tampa Bay Rays removed Hamilton from its 40-man roster and placed him on the restricted list.

>SLIDESHOW: MOST INFAMOUS SPORTS MUGSHOTS & THE STORIES BEHIND THEM!

Hamilton was selected first overall by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 1999 MLB Draft, where he was viewed as a generational prospect.

During Hamilton’s early career, he struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, which resulted in his getting suspended by the MLB and missing multiple seasons. From 2003 to 2005, Hamilton was out of the league due to his addictions, and many believed his career was over.

Hamilton got clean and played with the Cincinnati Reds in 2007. After the 2007 season, Hamilton was traded to the Texas Rangers, where he showed why he was the number one pick in the draft.

With the Rangers, Hamilton was a five-time All-Star, won three Silver Slugger Awards, and won the American League MVP in 2010. Hamilton also helped the team appear in two World Series in 2010 and 2011.

Hamilton signed a lucrative contract with the Los Angeles Angels before the 2013 season, but his production declined due to injuries.

In 2017, Hamilton retired from the MLB, despite his last game having been played on October 4, 2015. In 2019, Hamilton was inducted into the Texas Rangers’ Hall of Fame.
