Former University of Florida quarterback Jalen Kitna pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts of breach of the peace Wednesday. The plea was part of a deal in which five felony child pornography charges were dropped.

Kitna was arrested on Nov. 30 last year after local officers received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a Discord account in the Gainesville area had been distributing images of child sexual abuse. All of his electronic devices were seized.

A subsequent investigation by the Gainsville Police Department found that Kitna was the probable owner of the account, which had shared two images of young girls being sexually abused. Images of sexual abuse were also allegedly found on Kitna’s phone.

As a result of the plea deal, Kitna was sentenced to one year probation, which can be shortened to six months as part of his parole terms. He will not have to register as a sex offender.

“I’m thankful for all of their support during this time,” Kitna said from a statement in court. “Watching how this has affected the ones closest to me has been the most difficult during this process. I’ve learned some very valuable lessons. I will apply these lessons to my life moving forward. With my family’s support and love, I am thankful I can now put this behind me.”

Following Kitna’s arrest, the Gainsville Police Department released a statement advising parents to be aware of their children’s social networking activity.

“The Gainesville Police Department wants parents to be aware that children are solicited and exploited through social networking applications,” the statement said. “Those social networking applications … are also used to share images and videos which depict young children being sexually abused.”

Kitna appeared in four games for Florida last season as the backup quarterback behind Anthony Richardson. His father played in the NFL from 1996 to 2011 and 2013 and coached him at Burleson High School in Texas.

The 52-year-old pitcher was accused of continually sexually abusing a child under the age of 14, the Dallas Morning-News reported, citing Denton County Jail records. After posting a $25,000 bond, he was released from custody.

In 12 MLB seasons, Wetteland was 48-45 with a 2.93 ERA and 330 saves. He was a pivotal member of the 1996 New York Yankees World Series championship team and was the series MVP. He’s also the Texas Rangers’ all-time saves leader and was inducted into the Rangers Hall of Fame. He played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Montreal Expos as well.

After his playing career, Wetteland joined the Washington Nationals as a bullpen coach. He was fired from the job in 2006 for playing too many practical jokes, a reason which seems odd.  He then joined the Seattle Mariners and was hospitalized for a short period of time in 2009 for what the team thought was a mental health issue. Doctors found that the issue was related to heart and blood pressure issues.

Wetteland had also previously coached at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas. He also led Bible studies while there. He had no connection to the school at the time of his arrest.

WFAA reports that Wetteland’s wife, Rebecca, claims he is “100% innocent” and that his own children will testify to the statement.

The NFL star was reportedly trying to use the bathroom at the W Scottsdale but was not allowed to enter, and a scuffle ensued. According to ESPN, police stated Seals-Jones seemed intoxicated and had “bloodshot watery eyes.” The tight end had allegedly gotten past ropes and stanchions that had been placed at the entranced to a restaurant adjoining the hotel to prevent non-guests from going inside.

Hotel employees then confronted Seals-Jones and told him he could not enter, but the Cardinals star fought back by allegedly shoving the staffers.

The hotel’s surveillance footage showed the tight end and staffers quickly exiting the restaurant and toppling over benches. Seals-Jones was eventually tackled to the ground, the video demonstrated.

Seals-Jones landed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent last year. His arrest marks the second one of a Cardinals member this month. On July 4, general manager Steve Keim was arrested in Arizona for a suspected DUI. Keim pleaded guilty and was jailed Tuesday evening in Phoenix. The Cardinals have since suspended Keim for five weeks and he has been fined $200,000.

Police body-cam footage of Keim’s arrest was released last week:

William Jenkins was arrested for killing Roosevelt Rene, a 25-year-old friend of the former’s family who he Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated had been residing at the house. Rene’s body was found on Tuesday and a homicide investigation was quickly opened. The cornerback’s brother was named as a person of interest in the case early on Wednesday. The prosecutor’s office stressed that Williams Jenkins remains purely accused, and is “presumed innocent” until proven guilty.

Conor McGregor arrested for assault news

The combative UFC fighter was arrested in New York City on Thursday after being charged with assault. The New York Police Department said McGregor’s total charges were as follows: three counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of felony criminal mischief.

Video footage showed McGregor tossing a hand dolly through the window of a bus transporting UFC stars at a UFC 223 media event at Barclays Center. The 29-year-old Irishman — who wasn’t on the UFC 223 card — reportedly injured at least two fighters, who are now incapable of competing in Saturday night’s UFC 223 at the Barclays Center.

SLIDESHOW: 10 Highest-Paid Athletes

In an ESPN interview on Friday morning, UFC president Dana White adamantly stated he refuses to bail McGregor out. White said that although he would ordinarily jump to assist a UFC fighter, McGregor went too far and that the former featherweight and lightweight champion doesn’t deserve his help in this case.

“No … no,” White stated on ESPN’s Get Up! when asked if he was willing to assist McGregor. “Normally, yes, I would dive right in and do everything in my power to help one of my guys. But not in this situation.

“He came into the Barclays Center, attacked our fighters and attacked my staff with a bunch of guys. No, you don’t get my help on this one.”

Along with McGregor, the Irishman’s teammate Cian Cowley was also charged with assault by the NYPD.

White added that he believed McGregor was seeking revenge for an incident earlier this week between Russian lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov and featherweight Artem Lobov, a Russian-born Irishman.

The UFC president also said he was surprised by McGregor’s behavior, despite everything.

“It’s out of character for Conor McGregor and any of my fighters,” White stated of the fighter’s actions. “Listen, crazy things happen in sports. … In the history of the UFC, this is definitely the worst thing ever that’s happened. … This is not Conor McGregor. This is not the Conor McGregor that I know.”

White did not explicitly say whether he would fire McGregor, who is expected to make a court appearance on Friday.

Three fights have now been pulled from Saturday’s UFC 223 event.

Lightweight Michael Chiesa (14-3) will no longer fight Anthony Pettis due to facial injuries he sustained in the attack from broken glass. Meanwhile, flyweight Ray Borg’s (11-3) match against Brandon Moreno won’t occur because of injuries Borg suffered that the UFC called “multiple corneal abrasions.”

Finally, Lobov (13-14-1) had already been scratched from his bout against Alex Caceres due to his involvement in the assault incident.

McGregor (21-3) last competed with UFC in November 2016, when he won the lightweight (155-pound) title title, according to Bleacher Report.

The Irishman also lost to undefeated Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match in August 2017. McGregor reportedly won at least $30 million from that fight, while Mayweather earned more than $100 million.

Craig Carton, one of the two hosts of New York morning sports-radio program “Boomer & Carton” on WFAN, was arrested by the FBI on Wednesday morning on charges that he helped plot a multi-million-dollar ticket-reselling Ponzi scheme.

Craig Carton Ticket Reselling Scam News

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan accused 48-year-old Carton and another man of orchestrating a scam in which they asked for investments from firms and individuals — including a Manhattan hedge fund — whom the two defendants admitted to using to buy and sell concert tickets. The money was instead used to pay personal debts and earlier investors.

Carton, a New York native, has been charged with securities fraud, and conspiracy to commit these two offenses, per a criminal complaint filed in Federal District Court in Manhattan.

The radio host initiated the scheme last year around the time he had accrued millions of dollars in gambling debts to casinos and other parties, according to a civil complaint the Securities and Exchange Commission filed on Wednesday.

Carton’s co-host, retired NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, addressed his partner’s arrest on the pair’s show Thursday morning, saying he still holds Carton in high regard.

“I just want people know out there that I’ve loved my partner for 10 years and I still love my partner,” Esiason said on “Boomer and Carton.” Former New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms joined him as an emergency substitute. “I loved his family, loved his kids and I am praying every single day that, you know, he lands on his feet. There’s nothing worse than having a family going through what they have to go through,” Esiason told his listeners. Esiason added how shocked he was to learn of Carton’s arrest.

However, Esiason vowed his show would go on without Carton.

“We’ll continue to do it and I’m gonna bring my friends here to find a permanent replacement – if, in fact, that’s where this is going to take us,” he said Thursday. “At the end of the day we have four hours here WFAN, a great place to work with great people. It was like a morgue around here yesterday.”

Carton and event promoter Joseph Meli stand accused of stealing at least $3.6 million from two of their investors in re-selling tickets to upcoming concerts like Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Roger Waters, Metallica and Barbra Streisand. Carton is also accused of stealing an additional $2 million from another investor.

Meli was previously charged in January for defrauding investors of millions of dollars in a similar scam involving the resale of tickets to the popular Broadway musical Hamilton” and other well-known events. Meli pleaded not guilty to those charges.

Before Carton and Esiason replaced host Don Imus in 2007, the decision to put the former on the show drew strong reactions from fans. By that point, Carton had been known for making controversial statements on his previous show, “The Jersey Guys,” an afternoon talk show in Trenton, New Jersey. Carton also became known in recent years for mocking WFAN’s other major sports radio host, Mike Francesa. Francesa previously served as co-host of sports radio show “Mike and the Mad Dog” along with Chris Russo from 1989 to 2008.

The acting United States attorney in Manhattan, Joon H. Kim, said Mr. Carton and a third co-defendant Michael Wright “deceived investors and raised millions of dollars through misrepresentation and outright lies.”

William F. Sweeney Jr. — the head of the F.B.I.’s New York office — added that the two men tried to “pay off investors with money that would eventually become future debt.”

Carton and Wright were each ordered released on $500,000 bond by a federal magistrate judge, Andrew J. Peck.

Mr. Wright’s lawyer, Jonathan Davidoff, said on Wednesday that his client denied “any involvement in any criminal activity” and looked forward to “his innocence being established.”

Authorities did not name the hedge fund that provided funds to Carton to resell the tickets for large profits.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead was arrested on a misdemeanor petty larceny charge following a shoplifting incident in Virginia in June.

Cowboys’ Lucky Whitehead Arrested Shoplifting

Whitehead, 25, was also arrested for failing to appear for a court hearing on July 6.

The wideout was arrested in the early morning hours of June 22 after being accused of shoplifting less than $200 worth of merchandise from a convenience store in Woodbridge, Virginia, according to Prince William County records. Police responded to a call from a convenience store employee who claimed Whitehead ran out of the store without paying for some merchandise. Authorities located the receiver in the parking lot and arrested him shortly afterward.

A warrant for Whitehead’s arrest was also issued after he failed to appear for his July 6 arraignment. He is next scheduled to appear in court on August 10.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he learned of Whitehead’s arrest while on the practice field Monday and met with him briefly.

“We will do what’s in the best interest of the Dallas Cowboys,” Garrett said. He also added that the team is “gathering information and will respond accordingly,” and that he believed the receiver could be released.

Whitehead is entering his third season in Dallas after signing undrafted out of Florida Atlantic in 2015. He recorded three catches for 48 yards last season. He has rushed 20 times for 189 yards and caught nine passes for 64 yards, and has also been used a punt/kick returner.

The wideout made headlines last week when he announced on social media that his dog Blitz was kidnapped and was being held for ransom. He later announced that the dog had been returned unharmed.

Whitehead’s arrest is the latest in a series of legal scandals involving Cowboys players this offseason.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott was investigated last week for an incident at a Dallas bar on July 16 that left one man with a nose injury. Local police suspended their probe due to lack of sufficient evidence or witnesses, and also because they were unable to locate the victim. Elliott could also potentially face punishment from the NFL following allegations of a domestic violence incident last July in Columbus, Ohio.

Two other Cowboys players have also faced trouble this summer: Linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested July 4 on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, while rookie cornerback Jourdan Lewis recently appeared in court due to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

Australian football stars Ty Vickery and Jake King arrested on extortion charges

Former Australian Football League player Jake King was arrested on Wednesday on six charges including extortion, threatening to kill and inflicting serious injury.

jake King is set to appear in court on Nov. 15

Another AFL star, Hawthorn’s Tyrone Vickery, was also arrested as part of a similar investigation Victoria Police is conducting.

Vickery signed with Hawthorn as a restricted free agent in October 2016 after seven years with the Richmond Tigers. He and King — a former back pocket/small forward — played together on the Tigers from 2009 to 2014.

The pair were interrogated by detectives from Melbourne’s crime investigations unit.

Police confirmed they had searched properties in Wheelers Hill, South Melbourne and Thornbury.

According to the Herald Sun, authorities are investigating whether 27-year-old Vickery hired 33-year-old King to extort a business partner he was in dispute with over a six-figure sum.

The probe began after allegations surfaced that King was following Vickery’s request to threaten the third-party person who owed him money.

It is alleged that Vickery had believed a partner in his Hawthorn East Italian restaurant Fat Monkey had robbed up to $100,000 from the business, per The Age.

It remains unclear whether Vickery spoke to the police over this matter, although it is known he was concerned about the reputation of the restaurant if the dispute were to be made public.

The Hawthorn star was released shortly before 7pm on Wednesday without charge, pending further probe.

“Hawthorn Football Club is aware that Ty Vickery is assisting police in an investigation,” the team said in a statement. “As the matter is under investigation the club will not be making further comment at this time.”

Vickery kicked 158 goals in 119 games for Richmond over seven seasons. The forward/ruck has faced a tough first season at Hawthorn, with long periods on the sidelines and only two goals in six matches. Last month, he was dropped (for the second time) to the Victorian Football League following the club’s loss to Port Adelaide.

The player’s manager Scott Lucas said information about the arrests was still incomplete.

“Whenever anyone is assisting police or is involved in the investigation there certainly is an element of surprise there, no doubt,” Mr Lucas told radio station SEN 1116. “We’ll just work through that, work through it with Ty and the Hawthorn football club and, in a sense, get to the bottom of it.”

Vickery — the son of former Collingwood player John Vickery — is married to tennis player Arina Rodionova, the only Australian player remaining in this week’s Wimbledon tournament.

Rodinova ignored questions about her spouse overnight at the tournament in London.

“Just before we start, I’d just like to say all the questions please (refer) only regarding tennis, my previous match, my current match and I cannot speak about my personal life,” she said following a first-round doubles defeat alongside her sister Anastasia.

Rodionova said she “didn’t have to put anything aside” before her loss to Andreja Klepac and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez.

“I was just focusing on my match,” she added.

“I had a great day yesterday, obviously (a) worse day today and tomorrow’s another day.”

King — who was also charged with two counts of using a carriage service to harass — was released on bail and is scheduled to appear at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on November 15. He retired from the AFL after seven years following a serious toe injury in 2014.

The probe into King and Vickery is ongoing.

Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested early Monday morning in Dallas after a car he was a passenger in crashed into a bar and injured five people.

Seahawks QB Trevone Boykin Arrested After Car Crash In Dallas

According to FOX 4 in Dallas, police believe the driver of the car, 26-year-old Shabrika Baley, was drunk when she drove out of a parking garage and backed into the front of the Sidebar Bar at approximately 2 am CST.

The injured included the bartender and four people on the sidewalk. Three of them were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Boykin, 23, remains in custody as of Monday morning, and faces drug possession and public intoxication charges.

The quarterback signed with the Seahawks undrafted out of TCU in 2016. Shortly before he was drafted, Boykin assaulted a police officer during a bar fight after his senior year. He pled no contest to a charge of resisting arrest and was sentenced to a year of probation. Boykin was also suspended before the 2016 Alamo Bowl as a result.

Boykin, who signed a 3-year deal with the Seahawks in April 2016, appeared in six games as Russell Wilson’s backup, completing 13 of 18 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Boykin’s arrest follows those of Chicago Bears cornerback Deiondre’ Hall and Green Bay Packers cornerback Makinton Dorleant, who were involved in an incident in Cedar Falls, Iowa early Sunday morning.

According to the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department, police saw a crowd fighting outside of Sharkey’s Funhouse around 1 am. Hall was allegedly in the middle of the crowd lacing profanity at the bar staff and patrons.

Police physically removed Hall from the crowd, and said he then refused to answer questions and cooperate, and even spat and yelled in their faces.

In their report, the police added that Hall allegedly resisted being handcuffed and refused to enter the backseat of their squad car. One officer even tasered the cornerback’s left leg in an effort to force him to cooperate.

Dorleant then intervened by attempting to grab Hall, despite the officers’ orders for him to get back.

Hall was charged wit interference, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct. Dorleant was charged with interference.

The two cornerbacks played football at Northern Iowa.

Several news outlets report 34-year-old former Boston Celtic Orien Greene was taken into custody on Monday on battery and burglary charges.

According to police, Greene entered the first Pembroke Pines home through an unlocked door and went into a bedroom where a woman was sleeping.

A police report states Greene then left and walked to a second home, which he entered through a garage. There, police stated, Greene rubbed and kissed a woman.

The woman awoke and yelled at Greene, who fled to his girlfriend’s house.

Greene, who attended the University of Florida for two years before transferring to Louisianna-Lafayette, also played with the Indiana Pacers, Sacramento Kings, and New Jersey (now Brooklyn) nets. He also played overseas in Spain, Israel and the Netherlands.

It remains unclear whether or not Greene has an attorney.

Several news outlets report that 32-year-old Marcus Vick was arrested Saturday in Newport News and charged with one count of possession of a schedule I or II drug following a search of his apartment.

Police arrived at the scene after receiving a drug complaint. Authorities state officers smelled marijuana coming from the apartment as they approached.

Police stated Vick opened the door and allowed officers to enter. Vick and four others in the apartment were detained after police found two bags of what Vick confirmed were illegal drugs. The officer who filed the affidavit said he believed one bag contained molly, also called MDMA, and the other crack cocaine.

Court documents stated Vick was “extremely cooperative” with police when they searched his apartment.

Earlier this year, Macus Vick was charged with assaulting a police officer who was arresting him on a contempt charge in Virginia.

It remains unclear whether or not Vick has an attorney.

Vick was born in Newport News and attended Warwick High School before playing for Virginia Tech. He was signed by the Miami Dolphins in 2006, but only played one game for the team. His older brother Michael is a free agent National Football League quarterback who also played at Virginia Tech, and then went on to play for the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Browns OL Alvin Bailey Arrested For OVI

Court records revealed Bailey, 25, failed a field sobriety test, registering a reading of 0.145 percent, and was cited for OVI (operating a vehicle while intoxicated).

The right guard is also facing misdemeanor charges on possession of drug paraphernalia, drug abuse and failure to comply with a lawful order.

According to the Royalton Post, citing a police report, an officer spotted Bailey speeding northbound on West 130th Street. After chasing him, an officer saw Bailey exiting the vehicle, and he reportedly ignored commands to return inside. Instead, Bailey reportedly bent down under the tailgate. The player then stood up, appearing surprised at the officer’s presence. The arrest occurred around 1 a.m. Bailey later told police he had been drinking on the team plane as the Browns flew back from Sunday’s game in Miami., per the police report.

In 2007, the NFL banned alcohol from all team activities, including flights to and from games. Bailey admitted to police that he drank several whiskeys on the team plane home, which landed at 8:45 pm.

“We are aware of the incident and have spoken to Alvin to express our displeasure and extreme disappointment,” Sashi Brown, the team’s head of football operations, said Monday night in a statement obtained by Ohio.com. “This is a matter that must be taken very seriously and we will comment further at the appropriate time.”

The NFL has been made aware of the incident, and Bailey will be subject to the league’s personal conduct policy.

Bailey was at the team facility on Monday. He started at right guard Sunday against the Dolphins in place of John Greco, who moved to center in place of the injured Cameron Erving. Bailey signed with the Browns in March after spending two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

Bailey is due in North Royalton’s Mayor’s Court on Thursday at 9 a.m.

Hector Olivera Arrested for Assault in Arlington, Va

Atlanta Braves outfielder Hector Olivera was arrested in suburban Washington on Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted a woman at the team’s hotel. according to Arlington police spokesperson Ashley Savage’s report to USA TODAY Sports.

Braves OF Hector Olivera Arrested For Assault

Olivera was placed on paid leave by MLB on Thursday, pending the outcome of the case, according to a statement.

“Consistent with our Joint Domestic Violence Policy, the player has been placed on administrative leave and the Commissioner’s Office has begun an investigation,” MLB said in a statement received by USA TODAY Sports.

Local Arlington, Va. police responded after a woman at the Ritz Carlton Hotel called 911 to report she had been assaulted at 6:51 am on Wednesday, Savage stated. WJLA-TV first reported in the arrest.

“She had visible bruising,” Savage said, although she added that the injuries she sustained were non life-threatening. The woman was transported to a local hospital and released Wednesday afternoon.

Savage also added that Olivera and the alleged victim were familiar to each other.

After appearing before a magistrate late on Wednesday, the 31-year-old Cuban left fielder who is in his second season with the Braves was officially charged with misdemeanor assault and battery, according to David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His bond was set at $10,000.

The Braves released the following statement: “We are extremely disappointed and troubled to learn of the allegations involving Hector Olivera. We will continue to gather information and will address this matter appropriately as we determine the facts.”

Braves general manager John Coppolella declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation.

Olivera is now the third player subject to MLB’s domestic violence policy, even if he is not convicted in this case. New York Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman received a 30-game suspension for an incident at his Florida home that did not result in charges. Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes remains on paid leave after he was arrested in October for an incident involving his wife at a Hawaii resort; charges were eventually dropped after she refused to cooperate as a witness.

Olivera was traded to the Braves as part of a six-player deal in July. He played 77 games in 2015 for eight different teams during a seven-month span, including six minor league teams with the Dodgers and Braves.

The Braves are in Washington for a four-game series against the Nationals. The Nationals defeated the Braves 3-2 at Nationals Park in Washington, DC on Wednesday.
