Steph Curry Sets NBA Finals Record With Nine 3-Pointers In Warriors’ Game 2 Win Vs. Cavaliers [VIDEO]

Stephen Curry made history in the Golden State Warriors‘ home victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night.

Steph Curry Sets NBA Finals Record For 3s

The 30-year-old, two-time MVP finished with nine 3-pointers — and 33 points — in the 122-103  win to break the NBA Finals record for most 3s in a game.

Five of Curry’s 3-pointers came in the fourth quarter to help Golden State get ahead for good after the Cavs got to within seven points at the beginning of the period. Curry has now surpassed Ray Allen, who completed eight 3s in a contest in 2010 while playing for the Boston Celtics, and also jumped ahead of LeBron James for the career lead with 90 3s in the last round of the playoffs. Curry also had seven rebounds and eight assists.

The Warriors now lead the series 2-0, with Game 3 set for Wednesday at 9pm EST in Cleveland. Golden State coach Steve Kerr poked fun at James — who had 29 points and 13 assists on Sunday — during the press conference after Game 2.

“By the way, I thought you guys were much better today,” Kerr told reporters. The coach was referencing James’ comment to the media after Game 1 on Thursday. The Cavs forward told the press to “be better tomorrow” as he walked out of the conference.
