Steph Curry Responds To Sean Combs’ Tweet About Buying Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are up for sale after the 2017 season, and several celebrities have already begun expressing interest in the NFL team.

Carolina Panthers team sale news

Panthers owner Jerry Richardson announced the news Sunday in a letter posted on the team’s website. The development follows the league taking over an investigation into sexual harassment allegations tied to Richardson.

Among the first household names to say they are interested in purchasing the team is music mogul Sean Combs. Combs, formerly known as “Diddy,” recently changed his name again to “Brother Love.” He posted a video about his interest on Twitter:

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, who is a Panthers fan, seconded Combs’ motion shortly afterwards:

Whether these celebs are serious in their desire to purchase the franchise or not, we will surely find out soon.

Richardson, a former offensive player for the Baltimore Colts, has been the Panthers’ owner since 1993, when the team became the NFL’s 29th franchise.

The 81-year-old allegedly made verbal comments about women’s appearances, inappropriately touched female employees and made advances to women that included asking whether he could shave their legs and for them to give him foot rubs. The claims against Richardson also included the use of a racial slur that led to a settlement with a scout, as well as his threat to discipline players who launched protests to address social issues.

Richardson was one of the few NFL owners who vehemently expressed disapproval of the national anthem protests soon after they began in September.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, another opponent of these protests, was four years into his ownership tenure of the Cowboys when Richardson was put in charge of the Panthers.

Jones expressed dismay on Sunday about the situation involving Jones:

“I’m very sad,” Jones said following the Cowboys’ victory at Oakland. “Jerry is one of the really, really, really outstanding men of football that I’ve ever met, and I really admire him. I know that he made it the old-fashioned way. He worked for it. He took what he made in a short time in pro football and turned it into a great business and then used that to get the Carolina franchise. So he’s a great story.”

Richardson was hospitalized in 2008 after it became known he was suffering from heart problems. Six years before this, he underwent quadruple bypass surgery. He received his new heart in February 2009, and has not had any medical issues since.
