Sixers’ Joel Embiid Leaps Out Of Bounds & Frightens Regina King; Actress Reacts On Twitter [VIDEO]

On Wednesday night, the New York Knicks were hosting the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden, with both teams acquiring new assets before the deadline. This game was sure to be a good test of strength from both sides.

It wasn’t until late in the third quarter that Joel Embiid had to test his own athletic ability. Embiid had dropped a pass and proceeded to run after the ball in attempts to save it from going out of bounds, which cost the team a turnover.

However, sitting court-side was no other than legendary and award-winning actress Regina King. While going after the ball, Embiid spotted King and at the last second was able to leap over her and land on the fans behind her.

King had a look of surprise and shock on her face as Embiid made the play. But who could blame her, the All-Star Cameroonian-born center weighs a heavy 250 pounds and is over seven feet tall.

The actress, who seemed in good spirits, took to Twitter to express how thankful she was that Embiid was athletic enough to jump over her without harming her.

We can see how it would have been a crisis if the seven-footer had crashed into the much-smaller actress.

King won a Golden Globe Award last month for her supporting role in Barry Jenkins‘ new drama If Beale Street Could Talk, which is based on James Baldwin’s novel of the same name. King is now nominated for an Oscar for her performance and is considered the favorite to win the prize. She gave a powerful speech at the Globes in which she pledged to include more women in her future film and television projects.

Comedian and Brooklyn native Tracy Morgan also attended Wednesday’s game at MSG.
