Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette stated in a video he posted to Facebook that his trainers saved his life after he sustained a neck injury last November.

Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette: ‘My Trainers Saved My Life’

Lockette, 29, was injured during the Seahawks’ 13-12 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Nov. 1. He crashed into Dallas safety Jeff Heath during punt coverage and then just lay motionless on the field before being carted off.

“What saved my life is the trainers,” Lockette said. “The trainers came over, and they did it perfectly, perfectly by the book. The way that they held my neck, all the training is what saved my life. If they would have went too far to the left or moved me without stabilizing this or that, then I would have been dead.”

“If the returner at the time would have broken a couple tackles, and they would have rolled and fell on me, I would have died on that field,” Lockette added. He also thanked the firefighters and paramedics, and offered to help them in any way possible. He recently visited them in Redmond, Wash.

The wide receiver was forced to undergo surgery to stabilize ligament damage in his neck. He also suffered a concussion and disk injury, which caused him to miss the remainder of the 2015 season, and continues to wear a neck brace.

Lockette signed with the Seahawks in 2011 as an undrafted free agent and is expected to play next season.
