Seattle Seahwaks running back Marshawn Lynch has told several people close to him that he will be retiring soon, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Schefter also stated that Lynch’s teammates are actively trying to convince Lynch, 29, to return next season. Nevertheless, the RB, nicknamed ‘Beast Mode,’ has already informed the team that he plans to hang up his cleats for good.
Lynch rushed for over 1,000 yards in four straight seasons for the Seahawks, and carried the ball just 111 times for 417 yards in 2015. He played seven games while nursing hamstring and abdominal injuries.
Lynch is entering the second season of a three-year, $31 million contract with Seattle. If he does retire, the Seahawks would save themselves roughly $11.5 million.
