Vanderbilt Soccer Player Sarah Fuller May Kick For The Football Team
Sarah Fuller made history as she became the first woman to play in a Power Five game and an SEC game.
Fuller became the Vanderbilt kicker after the football team lost all of its special teams because of COVID-19. Vanderbilt was in need of an athlete to play as their kicker for their game against Missouri on Sunday. That’s when the team turned to the women’s soccer team and chose Fuller.
Fuller is the senior goalkeeper for the Vanderbilt women’s soccer team. She had just come out of a championship win with the soccer team when she was asked to be the kicker. Fuller was seen practicing with the team before making her debut on Sunday against Missouri.
Fuller made her debut against Missouri on Sunday as she ended up doing a squib kick for 30 yards. Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason opted for a squib kick in the third quarter for Fuller to make history.
