Saquon Barkley Injury Update: RB Ready To Play Against Bears

Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley left last Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans with a stinger in his left arm and shoulder.

The back was seen on the sideline during the first half after his exit with his helmet off, but returned for the entire second half. The injury occurred at the start of the game on the first play.

Titans lineman Jeffery Simmons hit Barkley, which left him beneath multiple other linemen. He then entered the medical tent and ran to the locker room before returning to the sideline for the rest of the first half, where he did not play another snap. He was given the official status of “questionable” to return in the first half.

Barkley totaled only 33 yards in his second-half play and got just three more carries after the first one, which led to the injury.

Tank Bisby, Barkley’s official backup, took his place during the game and would be the frontrunner to take his spot if Barkley misses any time, but that looks unlikely. He is still listed as questionable for next week, but expect to see him back on the field. Bisby led the team in rushing yards in the 24-20 win over the Eagles. The Eagles currently have only three running backs on the roster.

The Eagles would get the win with the help of Jalen Hurts‘ last-minute connection to Darius Cooper, and would get away with it even without much of a contribution from Barkley.

This is the second close game the Eagles have won to open their season 2-0, after a 24-22 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 1. Barkley had 83 yards on 15 carries in that game, and the Eagles take on the Bears on Monday Night Football this week, giving Barkley an extra day to heal up for Week 3.
