Russell Westbrook Scoffs When Asked About Being A Spurs Fan

Just one more day of the NBA regular season and not all of the playoff spots have been set. In the Western Conference, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New Orleans Pelicans are duking it out for the final seed.

However, the Pelicans, led by Anthony Davis, currently have the tiebreaker against the Thunder: meaning if both teams have the same record — they both currently sit at 44-37 — then the Pelicans will make the playoffs. So the Thunder needs to win their last game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and hope that New Orleans loses to the Spurs.

Now when asked about whether he will be a Spurs fan on Wednesday, Russell Westbrook had an interesting answer for the press. “I ain’t got to root for nobody,” he stated after scoffing and rolling his eyes. “I ain’t no Spurs fan. What type of question is that? You see my hat.”

From this answer, he either had no idea that the Spurs were playing the Pelicans or can predict the future. Why would any athlete be this calm when their season is potentially on the line?

At the same time, as long as the Thunder win, then their playoff chances are technically out of the team’s control: so perhaps that is why he answered nonchalantly.
