How Does Rory McIlroy’s 2015 Look?

Rory McIlroy has been the most consistent number one the PGA Tour has seen since Tiger Woods: but could anyone actually top him in 2015? McIlroy is the clear favorite to remain number one in the world as well as finally achieve his first FedExCup. At the same time, the famous Irish golfer is taking everything in strides: he still swears he is as hungry as ever in 2015.

Despite winning The Open Championship (British Open) and PGA Championship in 2014, he still finished tied for 23rd at last year’s U.S. Open and tied for eighth at The Masters. So it is safe to assume, the 25-year-old golfer is still as motivated as ever and he gets to show that at his opening 2015 tournament: the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship on the European Tour.

And what better way to start a year than win at a tournament that he has finished second at in three of the last four years. But once he is passed this and hopefully continues his consistent play seen at the end of 2015, the big question is will Rory finally get over the hump and win The Masters? It is not until April 9, yet it is still one of the last major tests for the golfer: the only major that has eluded him in his career.

As many people have pointed out, at the moment he is the clear favorite: at the same time, one must take in account the lawsuit that looms over his 2015 season. The court case stems from Rory McIlroy leaving Horizon Sports Management: whom he claims coerced him into a contract three years ago. At the end of 2014, the two parties met in an attempt to settle out of court, but an agreement could not be reached: thus the trial will begin sometime in February, with Rory taking the stand himself. Could this case hinder his focus and thus hurt his chances at The Masters: it is certainly a possibility.

At the same time, many critics have pointed out that the young golfer usually thrives during intense pressure: despite a poor start to last year he won two majors and even held it together through controversy — tooth aches — and a very public break up. Either way, uSports is certainly looking forward to his 2015 season.

And despite the athlete’s lack of 2015 highlights, here is McIlroy messing around with Rickie Fowler at the Yas Island Mangrove Challenge.
