Baltimore Ravens fans rejoiced after it was announced that left tackle Ronnie Stanley has signed a contract extension a five-year $98.75 million deal. The contract extension full worth maxes at $112.866 million.
The extension makes Stanley one of the highest-paid left tackle in the league along with Laremy Tunsil.
It means that the Ravens keep the young left tackle through 2025. The 26-year-old has become an important player for the Ravens. Stanley was selected to the Pro Bowl for the first time last year. He is important because he is the blocker for quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is the reigning NFL MVP, protecting Jackson from his blindside and from sacks. Stanley contributed to the team on the offense as his blocking enabled the Ravens to become the best rushing team in the league last season.
On the downside is that this hinders the Ravens financially because they have three more Pro Bowl players on their team whose contracts will end in the upcoming year. Ravens will eventually have to decide who to sign and who to let go. The bigger decision in the future will be the free agency of their quarterback Jackson who will be free in three years.
