Rob Gronkowski Shaves Head For Charity Event At Gillette Stadium

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski appeared at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, but not for a game – it’s June.

Rather, Gronk participated in the One Mission Buzz Off where he had his head shaved to raise money and awareness for children with cancer.

The football star made his sixth straight appearance at the event, which was held for the eighth time in Foxborough on Sunday. To date, nearly 5,000 heads have been shaved as part of the event, according to the foundation’s website. Over 7,000 families and patients have been assisted, with nearly $6 million raised as well.

Gronkowski’s appearance at Gillette Stadium is usually a highlight of the event. Gronk also shaved the heads of his brothers, Gordie and Glenn, as well as several other participants.

This kicks off an exciting week for Gronkowski and the Patriots, who begin their three-day mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. The 28-year-old is expected to attend after undergoing back surgery in December, causing him to miss the final five games of the regular season and all of the playoffs, including the team’s second Super Bowl title in three years. Injuries in total limited Gronk to just eight games all season, but he did participate in team workouts last month.
