In an incident that is as scary as the Richard Zednick or Clint Malarchuk accidents, Red Wing’s Drew Miller is lucky to still have his eye after a skate slashed him in the face.
The play in question happened during a face off between the Senators’ Mark Stone and the Red Wings’ Luke Glendening. As the two fought for the puck, the winger attempted to come in and support his teammate. Unfortunately, at that moment Stone tumbled to the ice causing his skate to fly up and strike Miller in the face.
He raced off the ice as play continued and was directly rushed to the training room to observe the damage. As previously mentioned, he was lucky the blade missed his eye and only caused a deep cut that required stitches.
