Ravens’ QB Lamar Jackson Makes The Case As An MVP Candidate

The answer to this season’s NFL MVP’s question might’ve been answered.

Lamar Jackson has made a statement win against the San Francisco 49ers 33-19. The win cemented his favorite status as an MVP. Jackson had 252 passing yards, two touchdowns, and another 45 rushing yards during the win.

His win saw praise from coaches and teammates.

“I thought Lamar had an MVP performance,” coach John Harbaugh said. “It takes a team to create a performance like that, but it takes a player to play at that level – to play at an MVP level – it takes a player to play that way. And Lamar was all over the field doing everything.”

Ravens wideout Zay Flowers echoed these sentiments, saying Jackson “can do everything” on the football field.

“He ran it; he threw it; he led the team,” he said. “That’s the MVP. You lead your team, you have the best record in the NFL, and he just comes out and continues to come out and do what he [does] game in and game out even though people [say], ‘He can’t do this. He can’t do that,’ and he comes out and proves them wrong every time.”

Jackson, however, downplayed his MVP narrative. When he won it last time, his team came up short in the playoffs.

So far, the Ravens are 13-3 in the regular season and have secured a playoff spot. They blew out the current No. 2 seed in the Miami Dolphins, 56-19, on December 31, which clinched home-field advantage in the playoffs.
