Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning has stated that he has no plans to retire at the end of the current 2015 season, at least according to one NFL reporter.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk appeared on Football Night in America Sunday night and said he spoke to someone who was familiar with Manning’s plans who stated that the QB, who will turn 40 next March, will play in 2016, even if it isn’t as a member of the Broncos.
Manning is currently dealing with several injuries, most notably a torn plantar fascia in his foot. Backup QB Brock Osweiler started for the Broncos two Sunday ago and threw two touchdowns and no interceptions for 250 yards to net the Broncos a 17-15 win over the Chicago Bears.
Many believe Osweiler, a former Arizona State player, could potentially steal Manning’s job given how the latter has been playing since last year (through the first half of this season). It is also rumored that some NFL teams have reportedly begun thinking about offering Manning a job after he retires, although that may not be until at least the end of 2016.
