Patriots Stay Undefeated After Win Over Dolphins

The New England Patriots remained undefeated, bumping their record up to 7-0, following Thursday night’s 36-7 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Foxborough, Mass. Tom Brady threw for 356 yards and four touchdowns, despite an improvised offensive line and Miami’s strong defense. After scoring the first touchdown in the first quarter, TE Rob Gronkowski now leads the NFL with seven receiving touchdowns and 113 yards. The return of RB Dion Lewis to the lineup was also a boon for the Patriots, as Lewis caught six passes and racked up 93 yards, as well as one touchdown after a pass just seconds before the end of the first half.

The Dolphins’ performance was markedly different from last week: they scored 41 points in the first half in a 44-26 home victory over the Houston Texans. This week, the team didn’t cross the field until the second half. Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill was sacked a total of five times and was hit ten times overall.

The Dolphins, who have now dropped to a record of 3-4, are now 0-3 in the AFC East, which puts them at the bottom of the division. Another major loss for the team was that of DE Cameron Wake, who was carted out due to an Achilles injury.

Miami’s team will now prepare for a key game against the Bills in Buffalo next week, while the Patriots will be playing the Redskins at home. The Dolphin’s next game is important because it is a potential elimination game, with either team ending up 3-5 if they lose, thus settling the third and fourth places in the division.
