Patriots’ Robert Kraft Hoping Trump Can Get Super Bowl Ring Back From Putin

Robert Kraft is looking to get a prized piece of jewelry back from a renown world leader – namely his Super Bowl ring.

ROBERT KRAFT Super Bowl Ring

The New England Patriots owner is likely one of the few who hopes his friend President Donald Trump can maintain a strong relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, so that he can retrieve one of his Super Bowl rings.

“I do have an emotional attachment to that ring,” Kraft told Fox News Sunday.

Putin reportedly stole Kraft’s $25,000 ring during their meeting in 2005. The Patriots owner let the Russian President simply try it on, but Putin instead pocked it and took off.

“I could kill someone with this ring,” Putin remarked.

Despite several attempts to retrieve it during Barack Obama’s tenure as president, Kraft was unsuccessful in getting his ring back. The Pats CEO even said he’d be willing to make a new one for Putin in exchange for getting the second of his four Super Bowl rings back, and that Trump could be the courier.

“I was willing to have one made with his name on it. Maybe we will have the new president bring it to him when he connects with him,” Kraft said.

The subject was not mentioned in FOX’s pre-game interview with Trump, so we will have to wait and see how the president responds to his friend’s plea.

Kraft also praised Trump, whom he said was very compassionate when his wife died in 2011.

“I believe in loyalty to friends, and the president has been a great friend of mine for over 20 years. And one of the most difficult times of my life he was there for me,” Kraft said, noting Trump called and checked in on him every week for a year.

The Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons 38-24 in overtime in Super Bowl LI on Sunday in Houston. The win marked Tom Brady and Bill Bellichick’s fifth Super Bowl title.
